  • Consider the problem of estimating the system reliability using noninformative priors when both stress and strength follow generalized gamma distributions. We first treat the orthogonal reparametrization and then, using this reparametrization, derive Jeffreys'prior, reference prior, and matching priors. We next provide the suffcient condition for propriety of posterior distributions under those noninformative priors. Finally, we provide and compare estimated values of the system reliability based on the simulated values of the parameter of interest in some special cases.

  • In this paper, we introduce the noninformative priors such as the matching priors and the reference priors for the common scale parameter in the Pareto distributions. It turns out that the posterior distribution under the reference priors is not proper, and Jeffreys' prior is not a matching prior. It is shown that the proposed first order prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense through simulation study.

  • In this paper, we develop the noninformative priors for the common shape parameter in the gamma distributions. We develop the matching priors and reveal that the second order matching prior does not exist. It turns out that the one-at-a-time reference prior and the two group reference prior satisfy a first order probability matching criterion. Some simulation study is peformed.

  • In this paper, we develop noninformative priors for the generalized Pareto distribution when the scale parameter is of interest. We developed the rst order and the second order matching priors. We revealed that the second order matching prior does not exist. It turns out that the reference prior and Jeffrey's prior do not satisfy a first order matching criterion, and Jeffreys' prior, the reference prior and the matching prior are different. Some simulation study is performed and a real example is given.

  • This paper considers noninformative priors for the scale parameter of exponential distribution when the data are collected in step stress accelerated life tests. We find the Jeffreys' and reference priors for this model and show that the reference prior satisfies first order matching criterion. Also, we show that there exists no second order matching prior in this problem. Some simulation results are given and we perform Bayesian analysis for proposed priors using some data.

  • In this paper, we consider the second order probability matching criterion for the ratio of the variance components under the one-way random effect model. It turns out that among all of the reference priors given in Ye(1994), the only one reference prior satisfies the second order matching criterion. Similar results are also obtained for the intraclass correlation as well.

  • Recently an important issue in Bayesian methodology is determination of noninformative prior distributions, often required when there is no idea of prior information. In this thesis attention is focused on the development of noninformative priors for stationary AR(1) model. The noninformative priors primarily discussed are the Jeffreys prior, and the reference priors. The remarkable points in the result are that the Jeffreys prior coincides with the reference prior for the case that $\rho$ is the parameter of interest.

  • In this paper, we want to develop objective priors for the common location parameter in two half-t distributions with unequal scale parameters. The half-t distribution is a non-regular class of distribution. One can not develop the reference prior by using the algorithm of Berger of Bernardo (1989). Specially, we derive the reference priors and prove the propriety of joint posterior distribution under the developed priors. Through the simulation study, we show that the proposed reference prior matches the target coverage probabilities in a frequentist sense.

  • In this paper, we consider Bayesian approach to the Fieller-Creasy problem using noninformative priors. Specifically we extend the results of Yin and Ghosh (2000) to the unbalanced case. We develop some noninformative priors such as the first and second order matching priors and reference priors. Also we prove the posterior propriety under the derived noninformative priors. We compare these priors in light of how accurately the coverage probabilities of Bayesian credible intervals match the corresponding frequentist coverage probabilities.

  • In this paper, we develop the noninformative priors when the parameter of interest is the common coefficient of variation in two inverse Gaussian distributions. We want to develop the first and second order probability matching priors. But we prove that the second order probability matching prior does not exist. It turns out that the one-at-a-time and two group reference priors satisfy the first order matching criterion but Jeffreys' prior does not. The Bayesian credible intervals based on the one-at-a-time reference prior meet the frequentist target coverage probabilities much better than that of Jeffreys' prior. Some simulations are given.
