In this paper we consider a joint test for seasonal cointegrating(CI) ranks that enables us to simultaneously model cointegrated structures across seasonal unit roots in seasonal cointegration. A CI rank test for a single seasonal unit root is constructed and extended to a joint test for multiple seasonal unit roots. Their asymptotic distributions and selected critical values for the joint test are obtained. Through a small Monte Carlo simulation study, we evaluate performances of the tests.

In this paper, the formulas for calculating the extremal ranks and inertias of the Hermitian least squares solutions to matrix equation AX = B are established. In particular, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existences of the positive and nonnegative definite solutions to this matrix equation are given. Meanwhile, the least squares problem of the above matrix equation with Hermitian R-symmetric and R-skew symmetric constraints are also investigated.

We discussed a comparison of distribution-free two-sample procedures based on placements or ranks. Iterative asymptotic distribution of both two-sample procedures is studies and small sample Monte Carlo simulation results are presented. Also, we proposed the Hodges-Lehmann type location estimator based on linear placement statistics.

We construct the sets of Boolean matrix pairs, which are naturally occurred at the extreme cases for the Boolean rank inequalities relative to the sums and difference of two Boolean matrices or compared between their Boolean ranks and their real ranks. For these sets, we consider the linear operators that preserve them. We characterize those linear operators as T(X) = PXQ or $T(X)\;=\;PX^tQ$ with appropriate invertible Boolean matrices P and Q.

The term rank of a matrix A is the least number of lines (rows or columns) needed to include all the nonzero entries in A. In this paper, we obtain a characterization of linear transformations that preserve term ranks of matrices over antinegative semirings. That is, we show that a linear transformation T from a matrix space into another matrix space over antinegative semirings preserves term rank if and only if T preserves any two term ranks $k$ and $l$.

The ignition behavior of single coal particles of five kindes of coal with different ranks (low volatile bituminous, low volatile sub-bituminous, high volatile bituminous, lignite) with particle size of $150-200{\mu}m$ was investigated at high heating rate condition. Particles were injected into a laminar flow reactor and the ignition behavior was observed with high speed cinematography. Sub-bituminous were observed to ignite homogeneously; however, low volatile bituminous coal and lignite undergo fragmentation prior to igntion. The observation was analyzed with previous work.

We define the incidence matrices of oriented and nonoriented ${\kappa}$-hypergraphs, respectively. We discuss the ranks of some circulant matrices and show that the rank of the incidence matrices of oriented and nonoriented ${\kappa}$-hypergraphs H are $n$ under a certain condition on the ${\kappa}$-edge set or ${\kappa}$-arc set of H.

We estimate the stable rank, connected stable rank and general stable rank of the multiplier algebras of $C^{＊}$-algebras under some conditions and prove that the ranks of them are infinite. Moreover, we show that for any $\sigma$-unital subhomogeneous $C^{＊}$-algebra, its stable rank is equal to that of its multiplier algebra.

Objective : The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty is a primary historical record that has provided a great deal of information about what the Joseon Dynasty was like. However, as of yet, we know very little about the medical officers in Joseon dynasty, such as their government posts and official ranks. The purpose of this study is look in to the activities, government posts, and official ranks of the medical personnel by examining Yeongjosillok. Methods : First, I selected historical records containing '醫' in Yeongjosillok. Then, I organized medical officers' name by reading each record. I screened historical records in Yeongjosillok with their names to analyze their activities, government posts, and official ranks. When there was limited information available, I referred to The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty. Results : I found 262 historical records in Yeongjosillok containing '醫'. Then I found 26 people who served as medical officers in Yeongjosillok. Also, l found that 11 government posts and 7 official ranks were awarded to them throughout the 110 historical records in Yeongjosillok and The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty. Conclusion : Through this study, I was able to examine the detailed activities of unknown medical officers by studying the historical records in Yeongjosillok and The Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty. Under the Joseon Dynasty's class-based society, the middle class had various restrictions. However, I found that medical officers that belonged to the middle class received exceptional treatment despite their social status.

The main purpose of this study is to systematically classify words indicating pain in terms of their ranks in each subclass. This study is a part of developing a Korean Pain Measurement Tool. This study didnot include exploration of each word's dimension such as sensory or affective. Eighty three Korean words tentatively classified in 19 subclasses in previous study were used for this study. At least three to six words were included in each subclass and the words were randomly placed in which each subject indicates their rank of pain degree. One hundred and fifty nursing students and one hundred clinical nurses were requested to indicate the rank of each word. One hundred and sixteen students and eighty three nurses completed the ratings for analysis. The data were collected from June 1983 to July 1983. The data using ordinal scale were analyzed by Friedman ANOVA to test significant difference between rank means. All of pain words indicated significant rank mean difference in all of 19 subclasses. Some of the words were either cancelled or replaced by other words, or rearranged for their ranks. Subclasses of which words were cancelled were 1) Simple stimulating pain, 2) Punctuate pressure, 3) peripheral nerve pain, 4) radiation pain, 5) punishment-related pain, and 6) suffering-related pain. Subclasses of which words were replaced or rearranged were 1) incisive pressure, 2) constrictive pressure, 3) dull pain, 4) tract pain, 5) digestion-related pain and 6) fear-related pain. Four subclasses such as traction pressure, thermal, cavity pressure, and fatigue- elated pain indicated significant differences among rank means in each subclasses and showed no visible overlaps of the ranks among means. Further research is needed using high level measurement of pain degree of each word and more sophisticated analysis of the pain degrees. Three pain words which would be related to chemical stimulation were newly explored and included as a new subclass. Through this study, the total number of subclasses increases from 19 to 20 and the total number of Korean words in the scale decreases from 83 to 80.
