  • To understand the research trends of English education in Korea for the last 20 years from 2000 to 2019, 12 major academic journals in Korea in the field of English education were selected, and bibliographic information of 7,329 articles published in these journals were collected and analyzed. The total number of articles increased from the 2000s to the first half of the 2010s, but decreased somewhat in the late 2010s and the number of publications by journal has become similar. These results show that the overall influence of English education journals has decreased and then leveled in terms of quantity. Next, 34 topics were extracted by applying latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) topic modeling using the English abstract of the articles. Teacher, word, culture/media, and grammar appeared as topics that were highly studied. Topics such as word, vocabulary, and testing and evaluation appeared through unique keywords, and various topics related to learner factors emerged, becoming topics of interest in English education research. Then, topics were analyzed to determine which ones were rising or falling in frequency. As a result of this analysis, qualitative research, vocabulary, learner factor, and testing were found to be rising topics, while falling topics included CALL, language, teaching, and grammar. This change in research topics shows that research interests in the field of English education are shifting from static research topics to data-driven and dynamic research topics.

  • In North Korea, where there was little external activity, the number of overseas academic paper publications has recently increased. This study aims to quantitatively analyze North Korean papers published abroad to identify changes in North Korea's research and development trends, and to explore the possibility of developing them through joint research with domestic researchers in the future. To this end, since 1986, frequency analysis and network analysis have been conducted on papers published overseas including North Korean researchers. The analysis was conducted on authors, research institutes, countries, and research fields, and changes were analyzed before and after Kim Jong-un took office. According to the results of the analysis, as the number of foreign papers published rapidly increased during the eight years after Kim Jong-un took office, the composition of the top researchers, research institutes, and researchers with high influence in joint research also changed a lot. After Kim Jong-un came to power, the proportion of North Korean researchers and research institutes increased relatively, and a network component was formed between researchers with high influence on joint research, so it was observed that they focused on specific research topics. It was found that the major foreign collaborators or research institutes of North Korean researchers were from China.

  • Purpose: This study is an integrated literature review to analyze health problems and social determinants of multicultural adolescents in South Korea. Methods: An integrative review was conducted according to Whittemore & Knafl's guideline. An electronic search that included publications from 2018 to 2020 in the PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, RISS, and KISS databases was conducted. Of a total of 67 records that were identified, 13 finally met full inclusion criteria. Text network analysis was also conducted to identify keywords network trends using NetMiner program. Results: The health problems of multicultural adolescents were classified into mental health (depression, anxiety, suicide and acculturative stress) and health risk behaviors (smoking, risky drinking, smartphone dependence and sexual behavior). As social determinants affecting the health of multicultural adolescents, the biological factors such as gender, age, and visible minority, and the psychological factors such as acculturative stress, self-esteem, family support, and ego-resiliency were identified. The sociocultural factors were identified as family economic status, residential area, parental education level, and parents' country of birth. As a result of text network analysis, a total of 41 words were identified. Conclusion: Based on these results, mental health and health risk behaviors should be considered as interventions for health promotion of multicultural adolescents. Our findings suggest that further research should be conducted to broaden the scope of health determinants to account for the effects of the physical environment and health care system.

  • Information technologies in higher education are the basis for solving the tasks set by monitoring the quality of higher education. The directions of aplying information technologies which are used the most nowadays have been listed. The issues that should be addressed by monitoring the quality of higher education with the use of information technology have been listed. The functional basis for building a monitoring system is the cyclical stages: Observation; Orientation; Decision; Action. The monitoring system's considered cyclicity ensures that the concept of independent functioning of the monitoring system's subsystems is implemented.. It also ensures real-time task execution and information availability for all levels of the system's hierarchy of vertical and horizontal links, with the ability to restrict access. The educational branch uses information and computer technologies to monitor research results, which are realized in: scientific, reference, and educational output; electronic resources; state standards of education; analytical materials; materials for state reports; expert inferences on current issues of education and science; normative legal documents; state and sectoral programs; conference recommendations; informational, bibliographic, abstract, review publications; digests. The quality of Ukrainian scientists' scientific work is measured using a variety of bibliographic markers. The most common is the citation index. In order to carry out high-quality systematization of information and computer monitoring technologies, the classification has been carried out on the basis of certain features: (processual support for implementation by publishing, distributing and using the results of research work). The advantages and disadvantages of using web-based resources and services as information technology tools have been discussed. A set of indicators disclosed in the article evaluates the effectiveness of any means or method of observation and control over the object of monitoring. The use of information technology for monitoring and evaluating higher education is feasible and widespread in Ukrainian education, and it encourages the adoption of e-learning. The functional elements that stand out in the information-analytical monitoring system have been disclosed.

  • North Korea's cyber capabilities represent a relatively new threat to global financial institutions and foreign governments, particularly the U.S and South Korean governments. Based primarily on publicly available sources, such as journalistic accounts and scholarly publications, this qualitative paper analyzes the ways in which North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has bolstered his country's asymmetric power and advanced his line of byungjin (dual development in the economy and military). Particularly by merging the cyber and maritime domains, North Korean operatives generate more revenue for the regime and helps keep the heavily sanctioned leadership in power. Despite the increased international attention to North Korean hackers, few analysts have examined the important role of cyber in the DPRK's internal political culture, specifically in advancing Kim Jong Un's byungjin line. Cyber fits into the DPRK's longstanding tradition of irregular warfare and guerilla-based armed struggle. Cyber also further advances Kim's personal reputation in the DPRK as an economic innovator and military strategist. This paper pays particular attention to the role of the DPRK's cyber operations in both ideological and maritime contexts. Recently, North Korean hackers have targeted South Korean shipbuilding industries and developed a blockchain scam, known as Marine Chain. North Korean cyber agents have increasingly paid attention to the nexus of cyber and maritime domains in their activities.

  • Road Deposited Sediment (RDS) is the solids formed from the wear of road, wear of vehicles, exhausts, and the input of the emissions from various sources out of the roads. RDS is seriously polluted by organic matter, nutrients, and metals. RDS plays an important role as the sink and the transport medium of the associated pollutants because RDS can be carried to the adjacent water system via stormwater runoff. In this regard, the heavy metals in RDS were investigated based on the publications. The contents of the metals in RDS were highly variable. The concentration of Cr, Ni, Cu, Fe, Zn, As, Cd, and Pb in urban RDS in various regions was in a range of 3.16-3,410, 1.15-1,382, 20.2-9,069, 2,980-124,853, 81-2,550, 2.3-214, 0.19-21.3, and 15.21-1,125 mg/kg, respectively. The anthropogenic enrichment of the metals in RDS was confirmed by the high concentration of Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb. The contents of the metals were higher in industrial and traffic areas than in residential areas, while they were generally increased with decreasing particle size. It is believed that this study's results would contribute to quantifying the metals' load via RDS and establishing control strategies.

  • In this study, the current status of digital humanities(DH) research support guide service, which is increasing recently in research-oriented academic libraries in the United States, was analyzed by comparing the contents provided by each institution's Website. Based on the ranking of research-focused academic libraries with the largest volume of books in North America as of 2018-19 in Association of Research Libraries(ARL) statistics, the service contents of 30 institutions providing DH research support guide service were analyzed. The criteria for analysis are 8 components of services presented in previous studies: (1) tools and technology, (2) funding, (3) community, (4) pedagogy, (5) projects, (6) resources, (7) publications and consultations, and (8) workshops and training. As a result of the analysis, it was found that most of the institutions operating the DH research support guide service provided 'DH resources', and more than half of the institutions were providing 'DH tools and technology' and 'DH community' information. In addition, most institutions are operating the DH research support guide service in cooperation with the library itself, on-campus research institutes and centers, or other departments for DH publication and project consultation, so they focused on research support information services through consulting. In the future, discussions on the DH research support guide service operation plan of domestic academic libraries and the competency of service personnel should be continued.

  • Bibliographic metadata can help researchers effectively utilize essential publications that they need and grasp academic trends of their own fields. With the manual creation of the metadata costly and time-consuming. it is nontrivial to effectively automatize the metadata construction using rule-based methods due to the immoderate variety of the article forms and styles according to publishers and academic societies. Therefore, this study proposes a two-step extraction process based on rules and deep neural networks for generating bibliographic metadata of scientific articlles to overcome the difficulties above. The extraction target areas in articles were identified by using a deep neural network-based model, and then the details in the areas were analyzed and sub-divided into relevant metadata elements. IThe proposed model also includes a model for generating reference summary information, which is able to separate the end of the text and the starting point of a reference, and to extract individual references by essential rule set, and to identify all the bibliographic items in each reference by a deep neural network. In addition, in order to confirm the possibility of a model that generates the bibliographic information of academic papers without pre- and post-processing, we conducted an in-depth comparative experiment with various settings and configurations. As a result of the experiment, the method proposed in this paper showed higher performance.

  • Background: The effects of radiation on the health of radiation workers who are constantly susceptible to occupational exposure must be assessed based on an accurate and reliable reconstruction of organ-absorbed doses that can be calculated using personal dosimeter readings measured as Hp(10) and dose conversion coefficients. However, the data used in the dose reconstruction contain significant biases arising from the lack of reality and could result in an inaccurate measure of organ-absorbed doses. Therefore, this study quantified the biases involved in organ dose reconstruction and calculated the bias-corrected Hp(10)-to-organ-absorbed dose coefficients for the use in epidemiological studies of Korean radiation workers. Materials and Methods: Two major biases were considered: (a) the bias in Hp(10) arising from the difference between the dosimeter calibration geometry and the actual exposure geometry, and (b) the bias in air kerma-to-Hp(10) conversion coefficients resulting from geometric differences between the human body and slab phantom. The biases were quantified by implementing personal dosimeters on the slab and human phantoms coupled with a Monte Carlo method and considered to calculate the bias-corrected Hp(10)-to-organ-absorbed dose conversion coefficients. Results and Discussion: The bias in Hp(10) was significant for large incident angles and low energies (e.g., 0.32 for right lateral at 218 keV), whereas the bias in dose coefficients was significant for the posteroanterior (PA) geometry only (e.g., 0.79 at 218 keV). The bias-corrected Hp(10)-to-organ-absorbed dose conversion coefficients derived in this study were up to 3.09- fold greater than those from the International Commission on Radiological Protection publications without considering the biases. Conclusion: The obtained results will aid future studies in assessing the health effects of occupational exposure of Korean radiation workers. The bias-corrected dose coefficients of this study can be used to calculate organ doses for Korean radiation workers based on personal dose records.

  • This study aims to present the direction of research for rational clothing design and production and improve the productivity of the fashion industry by analyzing the most recent 11 years (from 2010 to 2021) with regard to the clothing construction field. Analyzing the research trends in the field of clothing construction, which is deeply related to clothing production, will suggest the direction of research for clothing design and production. To analyze the current status of research in the field of clothing construction, research trends were analyzed, focusing on 525 research journal articles from six Korean clothing-related journals with terms related to torso and upper and lower limbs. The analysis results of this study are as follows. First, the rapid development of IT technology requires changes and innovations in all processes of clothing construction, including body shape analysis and pattern design. Therefore, it is believed that both body shape and pattern research should be continuously conducted to produce clothes with an excellent silhouette and fit depending on the body shape through studies, such as developing 3D patterns and converting 3D body figures into 2D patterns, among others. Second, since body shape studies are concentrated on young, middle-aged, and the elderly, it is believed that various body shape studies should be conducted on infants and elementary, middle, and high school students who have significant changes in body shape due to changes in the living environment. Third, if the content of pattern research is expanded to various items and is widely conducted, it will contribute to the production of clothing that has an excellent fit. Fourth, at a time when aging in society is accelerating, it is believed that research on patterns and clothing systems that can increase the fit of clothing by analyzing the body types of elderly male and female consumers should be actively conducted. Because the analysis was conducted only among six Korean academic journals, there is a limitation in the expanded interpretation of the results derived from this study.
