  • In a water treatment process a complete and homogeneous dispersion of the coagulants in the raw water could be most important factor. This research was performed to evaluate coagulation performance of the in-line-orifice mixer which was recently introduced as a rapid mixing device. The test was to determine the actual coagulant dispersion distribution on the overall cross-section at a distance of 1.6~3D from the chemical injection point by measuring zeta potential. From the results of zeta potential test, it was shown that the coagulant dispersion within the in-line orifice mixer was occurred very unevenly. The results have confirmed that it is necessary to increase the velocity of coagulants injection or pressurized water rates, in order to reduce nonuniform distribution of chemicals.

  • So far, The methods for identifying the parameters of some region or material have been developed. This paper describes a new method for electric resistivity reconstruction using multi-resolution property of wavelet. The outputs of the potential electrodes are computed using two dimensional FEM in the wave number space by Fourier transforming the governing equation. The resistance distribution in the region of interests, which makes the computed potential distribution coincide with the measured potential, is found by minimizing the objective function using an optimization method. Multi-resolution analysis introduced in this paper will be proved to be the proper method in the viewpoint of effectivity and time-consuming by the numerical results.

  • This study investigates the stress distribution in a transversely isotropic medium containing a spheroidal cavity where the medium is under uniaxial tension in z-direction in one case and pure shear in the plane of isotropy in another case. The technical approach used in this study combines exact analytical and numerical methods. The exact analytical method is based upon three potential functions taken in terms of the Legendre associated functions of the first and second kind. The numerical method is based upon the finite difference approach. Numerical results concerning the two loading conditions with five anisotropic materials are presented.

  • This paper describes touch and step voltage in the reinforced concrete and steel poles. Ground surface potential rises were measured as a function of the separation between pole and ground rod. Touch and step voltage are calculated on the basis of the distribution of ground surface potential rises. As a result, touch and step voltages strongly depend on the position of installation of ground rod.

  • In this paper, a new two dimensional (2D) analytical modeling and simulation for a surrounding gate tunnel field effect transistor (TFET) is proposed. The Parabolic approximation technique is used to solve the 2-D Poisson equation with suitable boundary conditions and analytical expressions for surface potential and electric field are derived. This electric field distribution is further used to calculate the tunneling generation rate and thus we numerically extract the tunneling current. The results show a significant improvement in on-current characteristics while short channel effects are greatly reduced. Effectiveness of the proposed model has been confirmed by comparing the analytical results with the TCAD simulation results.

  • The object of this work is to establish an electrochemical noise(EN) measurement technique combined with a direct current potential drop(DCPD) method for monitoring of localized corrosion cracking of nickel-based alloy, and to analyze its mechanism. The electrochemical current and potential noises were measured under various conditions of applied stress to a compact tension specimen in a simulated primary water chemistry of a pressurized water reactor. The amplitude and frequency of the EN signals were evaluated in both time and frequency domains based on a shot noise theory, and then quantitatively analyzed using statistical Weibull distribution function. From the spectral analysis, the effect of the current application in DCPD was found to be effectively excluded from the EN signals generated from the localized corrosion cracking. With the aid of a microstructural analysis, the relationship between EN signals and the localized corrosion cracking mechanism was investigated by comparing the shape parameter of Weibull distribution of a mean time-to-failure.

  • This paper analyzed the change of subthreshold current for channel doping concentration of double gate(DG) MOSFET. Poisson's equation had been used to analyze the potential distribution in channel, and Gaussian function had been used as carrier distribution. The potential distribution was obtained as the analytical function of channel dimension, using the boundary condition. The subthreshold current had been analyzed for channel doping concentration, and projected range and standard projected deviation of Gaussian function. Since this analytical potential model was verified in the previous papers, we used this model to analyze the subthreshold current. As a result, we know the subthreshold current was influenced on parameters of Gaussian function and channel doping concentration for DGMOSFET.

  • A two-dimensional treatment of the potential distribution under the depletion approximation is presented for poly-crystalline silicon thin film transistors. Green's function approach is adopted to solve the two-dimensional Poisson's equation. The solution for the potential distribution is derived using Neumann's boundary condition at the silicon-silicon di-oxide interface. The developed model gives insight into device behavior due to the effects of traps and grain-boundaries. Also short-channel effects and drain induced barrier lowering effects are incorporated in the model. The potential distribution and electric field variation with various device parameters is shown. An analysis of threshold voltage is also presented. The results obtained show good agreement with simulated results and numerical modeling based on the finite difference method, thus demonstrating the validity of our model.

  • Purpose - This study aims to exploratorily analyze relationship among pressure on business failure, social safety net perception, and entrepreneurial intention targeting potential business founders - pre-entrepreneurs and re-entrepreneurs. Research design, data, and methodology - Out of 450 collected surveys, 386 were used for analysis. Among these, 216 were from pre-entrepreneurs and 170 were from re-entrepreneurs. Frequency analysis, reliability and validity analysis, and regression analysis were performed. Results - In analysis of pre-entrepreneur and re-entrepreneur's pressure on business failure and social safety net perception, objective environment perception - a subfactor of social safety net perception - had statistically significant difference between the two potential entrepreneur groups. Conclusions - We categorized potential entrepreneurs into pre-entrepreneurs and re-entrepreneurs. Also, the current study suggests importance of social safety net to vitalize food service business startup by validifying its mediating effect between pressure on business failure and attitude towards restaurant business establishment. This research also established groundwork for future studies on ways to improve entrepreneurial intention or startup business sustainability by deducing social safety net perception difference between pre-entrepreneurs and re-entrepreneurs. This study was able to analyze relationship between those two groups in terms of entrepreneurial intention and startup business sustainability.

  • If we use the 2-dimensional analyzing method with the magnetic vector potential for the analysis of eddy current distribution in electric machinery, we can obtain the magnitude of eddy current but can't have the characteristic of eddy current distribution. For the settlement of this problem, we have induced the governing equation with the current vector potential and attemptted 2-dimensional analysis of eddy current distribution by finite element method. And the time domain weighted residual method is used in treatment of time differential term and we have developed the algorithm by it. And then, we analyze eddy current distributions of analytic model and aluminium disk in singlephase watt hour meter. Consequently we have verified the propriety and utility of above mentioned method.
