  • The p-version of the finite element method is a new approach to finite element analysis in which the partition of the domain is held fixed while the degree p of approximating piecewise polynomials is increased. In this paper, the focus is on computer implementation of a new hierarchic p-convergence shell model based on blend mapping functions. Its rigid-body modes, round-off error, and convergence characteristics are investigated.

  • Background and Purpose: We developed a new digital cognitive assessment called Seoul Cognitive Status Test (SCST), formerly called Inbrain Cognitive Screening Test. The purpose of this study was to validate the clinical utility of the SCST by comparing its scores of those with subjective cognitive decline (SCD), amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI), and dementia diagnosed by the Korean version of the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Packet (CERAD-K). Methods: All participants (n=296) who completed the CERAD-K, SCST, and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living tests were included in this study. Total score, cognitive domain scores, and subtest scores of the SCST were compared among the 3 groups (SCD, aMCI, and dementia). Additionally, correlations between SCST and CERAD-K subtests were examined. Results: Cognitive domain scores and total score of the SCST showed significant differences among the three groups, with scores being the highest in the order of SCD, aMCI, and dementia (p<0.001). Most subtests of the SCST also showed higher scores in the order of SCD, aMCI, and dementia (p<0.001). However, SCD and aMCI groups showed no significant differences in scores of the Phonemic Word Fluency Test (p=0.083) or Korean Trail Making Test-Elderly version Part A (p=0.434). Additionally, there was no significant difference in the score of Place Recognition (p=0.274) of the Word-Place Association Test between aMCI and dementia groups. Conclusions: In conclusion, differences in total score, cognitive domain scores, and subtest scores of the SCST among the 3 groups of participants diagnosed using CERAD-K confirm the clinical utility of the SCST for cognitive assessment.

  • The purpose of this study is to be conducive to work improvement through analyzing turnover intention and organizational commitment of EMT within medical institution. The subjects of this study were randomly extracted 188 EMT. The survey period was conducted from May 3, 2011 to May 19 (May 3rd-4th in G Province, May 14th in B Metropolitan City, May 18th-19th in D Metropolitan City). An analytical method was made with SPSS WIN program(Version 12.0). As a result of research, the turnover intention was high in women(p<.001), in under 30 years old(about 4.9 times, p<.001), in the unmarried(about 4.3 times, p<.001), and in junior college graduate(about 4 times, p<.001). Also, the turnover intention was high in income with under 1,500,000 won(about 3.3 times, p<.001), in working career with under 5 years(about 3.2 times, p<.001), in feeling the legal work limit(about 1.8 times, p<.05), and in group with low job satisfaction(p<.001). In correlation between organizational commitment and job variable, the variables in age, marriage, academic background, turnover intention, income, career, and legal work limit except gender and job satisfaction showed positive correlation with organizational commitment(p<.01). As for the factors affected on the organizational commitment, the turnover intention(p<.01), the legal work limit(p<.01), and the job satisfaction(p<.001) had significant effect on organizational commitment.

  • We prove an extended version of asymptotic behavior of the orthonormal cardinal refinable functions from Blaschke products introduced by Contronei et al [2]. In fact, we show the orthonormal cardinal refinable function ${\varphi}_{k,q}$ converges in $L^p(\mathbb{R})$ ($2{\leq}p{\leq}{\infty}$) to the Shannon refinable function as ${\kappa}{\rightarrow}{\infty}$ uniforml on a class $\mathcal{Q}_{A,B}$ of real symmetric polynomials determined by positive constants $A{\leq}B$.

  • Duggal-Jeon-Kubrusly([2]) introduced Hilbert space operator T satisfying property ${\mid}T{\mid}^2{\leq}{\mid}T^2{\mid}$, where ${\mid}T{\mid}=(T^*T)^{1/2}$. In this paper we extend this property to general version, namely property B(n). In addition, we construct examples which distinguish the classes of operators with property B(n) for each $n{\in}\mathbb{N}$.

  • We develop a new function space $L_{\alpha}(X)$ that generalizes the classical Lebesgue space $L^p(X)$. The generalization is focused on a better explanation of the flux terms arising from many dynamics.

  • In this paper, we extend Ganelius' lemma in Anderson [1]. In the Ganelius' original version several of the ${\alpha}$$\sub$k/ are equal to 1, but in our extension theorem we have the ${\alpha}$$\sub$k/ distinct and all unequal to 1. Then our theorem can be used to introduce an indefinite quadrature formula for ∫$\sub$-1/$\^$1/ f($\chi$)d$\chi$, f $\in$ H$\^$p/, with p > 1. We will also correct an error in the proof of Ganelius' theorem provided in Ganelius [2].(omitted)

  • It is recently proved by Aiyama and the authors [2] that a complete space-like complex submanifold of a complex space form $M^{n+p}$$_{p}$ (c') (c'.geq.0) is to totally geodesic. This is a complex version of the Bernstein-type theorem in the Minkowski space due to Calabi [4] and Cheng and Yau [5], which is generalized by Nishikawa[7] in the Lorentz manifold satisfying the strong energy condition. The purpose of this paper is to consider his result in the complex Lorentz manifold and is to prove the following.e following.

  • In this paper, we prove, in the spirit of [3, 12, 20, 22, 23], the existence of infinitely many small solutions to the following quasilinear elliptic equation $-{\Delta}_{p(x)}u+{\mid}u{\mid}^{p(x)-2}u={\mid}u{\mid}^{q(x)-2}u+{\lambda}f(x,u)$ in a smooth bounded domain ${\Omega}$ of ${\mathbb{R}}^N$. We also assume that $\{q(x)=p^*(x)\}{\neq}{\emptyset}$, where $p^*(x)$ = Np(x)/(N - p(x)) is the critical Sobolev exponent for variable exponents. The proof is based on a new version of the symmetric mountainpass lemma due to Kajikiya [22], and property of these solutions are also obtained.
