  • A thermally responsive hydrogel has reversibility with temperature during swelling. Here, we proposed origami inspired temperature sensor by using multi-layered hydrogel film. The formation of patterned stripes on microscale film drives bending to an angle that can be controlled linearly. Although temperature range was not wide, measured sensitivity of sensors has high resolution and accuracy. It providing a powerful platform for the design of sensitive sensors and that easily adapt other type of sensors in microscale.

  • By learning math, constructing math problems helps us to improve analytical thinking ability and have a positive attitude and competency towards math leaning. Especially, gifted students should create math problems under certain circumstances beyond the level of solving given math problems. In this study, I examined the math problems made by the gifted students after the process of raising questions and discussing them for themselves by doing origami. I intended to get suggestions by analyzing of problem posing strategy and method facilitating the thinking of mathematics gifted students in an origami program.

  • Paper folding is a versatile tool that can be used not only as a mathematical model for analyzing the geometric properties of plane and spatial figures but also as a visual method for finding the real roots of polynomial equations. The historical evolution of origami's geometric and algebraic techniques has led to the discovery of definitions and properties that can enhance one's cognitive understanding of mathematical concepts and generate mathematical interest and motivation on an emotional level. This paper aims to examine the history of origami geometry, the utilization of origami for solving polynomial equations, and the process of determining the real roots of quadratic, cubic, and quartic equations through origami techniques.

  • The Original forms of the ancient clothing have been evolved in various designs and showed each unique formativeness based on the basic principles of origami. The purpose of this study was to analyze the basic clothing formativeness in the original forms of the ancient clothing based on the principles of origami. The methods of this study were to identify significant relevant ancient clothing figures with each unique formativeness based on the principles of origami and analyze the formativeness characters and values through comprehensive literature reviews on topic-related books and theses on a foundation of triangulation of observer. The results were as follows: The significant ancient clothing figures with principles of origami were identified as kalasiris, chiton, chlamys, toga, dalmatica, paludamentium, and lorum. The formative principles applied in the ancient clothing figures were identified as exaggerated measurements, folding and unfolding, bending, and angle. And the formative characters and values were identified as potential drape realization, potential silhouette realization, potential three-dimensional design optimality, and potential three-dimensional formativeness realization. The result of this study may be used for a newer approach for the fundamental digging of clothing formativeness in advance.

  • A wearable antenna made using conductive tape on paper is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna is composed of a half-wavelength conducting dipole strip and a parasitic conducting strip on the A4 copy paper. The antenna is fed at the center of the dipole strip by an SMA connector. The configuration of the proposed antenna changes according to the origami method. Therefore the radiation patterns of the antenna vary according to whether or not the paper is folded. This approach solves the problem that the reception ratio of the signal decreases because of null points in the antenna radiation pattern. The reflection coefficient and the radiation pattern of the proposed antenna at 900 MHz are evaluated using an EM simulation and measurements. It was shown that the proposed paper antenna has reconfigurable characteristics at 900 MHz when utilizing the origami method.

  • Candida antarctica lipase B (CalB) is an efficient biocatalyst for many organic synthesis reactions. To make full use of CalB, we need effective expression system. Previously recombinant CalB was successfully expressed in the methylotropic yeast Pichia pastoris. In addition, we succeed in the functional expression of CalB in the Escherichia coli cytoplasm. This CalB expression system in E.coli has many considerable advantages in comparison with other expression systems and enables high-throughput screening of gene libraries as those derived from directed evolution experiments. To optimize E.coli system, we investigate comparing between OrigamiB (DE3) and BL21 (DE3) and observing effect of IPTG amount.

  • Quadrotor with limited flight time due to battery level can have the extended mission life by applying energy harvesting technology. Bio-inspiration from the birds' locomotion of flight and perch-and-stare can make energy consumption efficient, and energy harvesting technology can generate energy. In order to charge the battery with solar power, the drones are required to be in a position without shade. In the mountainous terrain, a novel mechanism is required in order to be located stably at the top of the tree or the inclined rock. In this study, we propose an analysis of the origami structure and the concept design of the perching mechanism with two stable equilibrium states. The origami structure composed of compliant material can be applied to the perching mechanism that can be locked passively. Moreover, the experimental results of the trajectory and perching test are discussed.

  • The concept of locating chromatic number of graph is a development of the concept of vertex coloring and partition dimension of graph. The locating-chromatic number of G, denoted by χL(G) is the smallest number such that G has a locating k-coloring. In this paper we will discussed about the procedure for determine the locating chromatic number of Origami graph using Python Programming.

  • The dynamic behavior of the deployment and folding process of a foldable boom based on the Miura origami pattern is investigated in this paper. Firstly, mechanical behavior of a single storey during the motion is studied numerically. Then the deployment and folding of a multi-storey boom is discussed. Moreover, the influence of the geometry parameters and the number of Miura-ori elements n on the dynamic behavior of the boom is also studied. Finally, the influence of the imperfection on the dynamic behavior is investigated. The results show that the angles between the diagonal folds and horizontal folds will have great effect on the strains during the motion. A bistable configuration can be obtained by choosing proper fold angles for a given multi-storey boom. The influence of the imperfection on the folding behavior of the foldable mast is significant.
