In this study, we investigated the application of oriental history of mathematics in school mathematics teaching. We set up three study problems to achieve this purpose. First, we analyze the middle and high school mathematics textbooks and auxiliary books. Second, we survey the mathematics teacher's knowledge and degree of application on history of mathematics. Third, we develop the teaching and learning materials on oriental history of mathematics. We performed three study-methods to settle above study problem. First, we analyzed 24 textbooks and auxiliary books for study problem 1. There were 6 middle school mathematics textbooks and 6 auxiliary books and also 6 high school mathematics textbooks and 6 auxiliary books. We categorized the contents into "anecdote", "systematization", "application of problem", "expansibility of thought", and "comparative of the contents". Second, we surveyed the 78 mathematics teachers's knowledge and degree of application using questionnaire about knowledge and application on history of mathematics. The questionnaire was made up of four types of question; the effect of material about history of mathematics, the understanding of western history of mathematics, the understanding of oriental history of mathematics; the direction of development of teaching material. Third, we exemplified the teaching and learning materials about three categories: "anecdote", "comparative of the contents".

본 논문에서는 동양수학과 고대 그리스 수학을 비교한 결과, 동양수학은 엄밀한 논리적 체계를 갖추지는 못했지만 양적이고 계산적이며 어떤 원리를 가지고 문제를 해결한 반면, 고대 그리스에서는 완전한 학문으로써의 공리적이고 연역적인 전개로 이루어진 수학의 특성을 가지고 있음을 고찰하였다. 이는 동양과 고대 그리스의 수학적 특성과 장점들을 결합하여 연구하면 미래의 수학교육과 수학발전에 원동력이 될 것으로 기대된다.

중국, 한국, 인도, 아라비아 등 동양 수학에서는 수학 내용을 구결, 즉 내용을 입으로 전하기 위해 싯구의 형식을 빌려 표현한 경우가 종종 있다. 본 연구에서는 우선 동양 수학책에서 발견되는 구체적인 구결 및 그것이 담고 있는 수학적 지식에 대해 고찰한다. 그리고 구결의 형식을 빌려 수학 지식을 제시한 이유에 대해 추론함으로써 수학 활동에서 구결의 역할에 대해 생각해보고, 나아가 수학교육적 관점에서 절차나 알고리즘 지도와 관련하여 구결을 활용하는 방법에 대해 제안한다.

In this paper, the current problems and challenges of mathematics teachers practice and conditions are discussed with an oriental perspective. What are mathematics teachers' needs of their professional practice? What contradictions and difficulties do they meet in the condition of their professional development? The problems and challenges are described with the result of a group of surveys.

Treatment method refers to a principle or method for treating diseases in Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM). As doctors determine the ideal treatment for a patient's disease or symptom, they are also able to prescribe effective treatment means for the diseases or symptom such as medicinal materials, prescription, acupuncture and moxibustion. Therefore, if significant symptom-treatment method combinations are found from literature or database, proper treatment means for the patient's diseases or symptom may be presented to TKM doctors and enhanced treatment accuracy and efficiency can be expected. This study aims to analyze the relation between symptom and treatment method by interpreting hypotheses through null hypotheses to find significant symptom-treatment method combinations. This combinations suggested in this study will be compared with TKM experts analysis result to find an objective analysis method and eventually apply the method to medical big data, e.g., a huge amount of literature or treatment records.

Geometry is one of the important parts of Chinese school mathematics. There is a large difference in teaching and contents (standards, curriculum) between the US and China. Many mathematics educators in both countries are trying to reform the instruction of geometry and have made some progress. Close attention has been given to the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics (NCTM 2000), in which we have found many good ideas. In this paper, we introduce new developments of school geometry in China and have made some comparisons between the US and China. The new technology is becoming popular step by step in Chinese high schools. We believe we should learn from each other and exchange the ideas. In doing this mathematics teaching will be improved.

Even though Sanhak has a long history, it has disappeared from the stage of modern mathematics. What happened to Sanhak? This article tries to answer the question. In fact, the authors argue that the oriental perception toward to infinity has played an important role in such situation. The authors claim that actual infinity and virtual infinity have resulted in quite different types of mathematics, respectively.

In this paper, we introduced that the differences and reasons about oriental and western consciousness structure by borrowing from Dr. Richard E. Nisbett who is a professor of Michigan University of USA and writer of . And then, we introduced two survey results about likeness, dislikeness and aesthetic sence on mathematics. In their surveys, we researched the differences and attitudes between Korean male students and female students. Furthermore, we present a new educational curriculum to promote university students' various culture consciousness on mathematics.

The aim of this paper is to present two new viscosity rules for nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert spaces. Under some assumptions, the strong convergence theorems of the purposed new viscosity rules are proved. Some applications are also included.
