Sound absorption coefficients of oak (Quercus mongolica) wood and oak mushroom bed log were measured by the two microphone transfer function method and anatomical features of oak mushroom bed log examined by stereo scope and SEM observations. The sound absorption coefficients of oak mushroom bed log seemed to be higher than those of normal oak wood specimen over all estimated frequency range. Especially, in the frequency range of 2 to 6 kHz, they were about 2~3 times higher than those of normal wood specimen. Due to fungi degradation, the specific gravity of oak mushroom bed log decreased about 70% than that of normal wood. For oak mushroom bed log, abundant pores occurred on the radial, tangential and cross sectional surface and it was considered that the pores behaved as a sound absorbing pore.
An unrecorded Hypoxylon sp. was observed on the bed-log of oak-mushroom (Lentinula edodes) in Korea. The stroma of the fungus was formed on the bed-log (Quercus spp.) damaged by Korean squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris coreae). Perithecia were $200{\sim}400{\mu}m$, and asci containing 8 ascospores were $7{\sim}8{\times}150{\sim}230{\mu}m$ in size. Paraphysis was cylindrical shape, Ascospores were $5{\sim}9{\times}12{\sim}17.5{\mu}m$ in size, pale brown to dark brown, elliptical, and smooth. They have germination cleft and $1{\sim}2$ oil droplets.
Anamorph and teleomorph of Diatrype stigma on the bed-log inoculated with oak-mushroom (Lentinula edodes) in Korea were observed and identified. As the characters of anamorph of Diatrype stigma, conidia were hyaline, falcate or slightly curve, and $1{\sim}1.5{\times}12.5{\sim}17.5\;{\mu}m$, and conidia layer was confirmed under the bark. About teleomorph, perithecia $150{\sim}200{\times}450{\sim}500\;{\mu}m$, with ostiole ($30{\sim}40\;{\mu}m$, three- to four-sulcate). Size of ascus containing 8 ascospores was $5{\sim}6{\times}30{\sim}40\;{\mu}m$. Ascospores were hyaline to pale brown, $1.5{\sim}2{\times}5{\sim}7.5\;{\mu}m$ and mostly biguttulate.

The temperature and humidity of 49 greenhouses for oak mushroom cultivation were investigated for 5 years to analyze the trends in the change of these parameters according to the climate change in Korea. The 5-year average temperature and humidity were $24.7^{\circ}C$ and 60.5%, respectively, in sawdust media-based cultivation houses and $24.4^{\circ}C$ and 60.0%, respectively, in log-bed cultivation houses. The average temperature in the summer was $29.8^{\circ}C$ in 2016, $29.1^{\circ}C$ in 2017, and $33.3^{\circ}C$ in 2018 in the log-bed cultivation houses and $26.8^{\circ}C$ in 2016, $20.4^{\circ}C$ in 2017, and $24.2^{\circ}C$ in 2018 in the sawdust media-based cultivation houses. During the investigation, temperatures over $30^{\circ}C$ were detected in one cultivation house in spring and five such houses in summer. When classifying by cultivation type, temperatures over $30^{\circ}C$ were found in five log-bed cultivation houses and temperatures less than $20^{\circ}C$ were found in four log-bed cultivation houses in fall. This study shows that log-bed cultivation houses for oak mushroom need to be modified to cope with the climate change.

Five empirical farmhouses were selected to reduce the high temperature damage in oak mushroom cultivation using bed-logs. The cultivation facilities were categorized as follows: those having two blackout curtains or one blackout curtain and outdoor oak mushroom cultivation. The inequality of the indoor condition, oak mushroom hyphae rampant ratio, and fruit body production in each test condition was evaluated. $3^{\circ}C$ was lower in indoor temperature of cultivation facility having two blackout curtains than one blackout curtain. Specifically, the indoor air humidity average of cultivation facilities having one or two blackout curtains was 10% lower than that of outdoor oak mushroom cultivation. This condition is not ideal for oak mushroom cultivation as continuous indoor humidity control is essential for producing good fruit bodies. The Inoculated bed-log surface and oak mushroom hyphae rampant ratio of bed-logs cultivated with two blackout curtains was superior to other tested conditions. The mushroom production ratio observed in facilities with two blackout curtains was 117-204% higher than those cultivated in facilities with only one blackout curtain. Furthermore, the mushroom production ratio increased in based on these findings, we recommended five cultivation facility models to reduce high temperature damage in oak mushroom cultivation using bed-logs.
This study attempted to estimate the degree of management of oak mushroom farms in Chungcheongnam-do and to provide information to establish oak mushroom cultivation-related policies. The oak mushroom management standard diagnostic table consists of three major categories, growing condition, inoculation management, cultivation management and management administration, along with 20 subcategories. Thus, 209 households of oak mushroom farms were surveyed from 2015 to 2018 in Gongju, Cheongyang, Buyeo and Seochun in Chungcheongnam-do. The average score for the 20 subcategories was 71.5 points (representing a significant level), indicating that these areas have excellent management conditions. The analysis of the management performance indicators revealed a high number of indicators with scores of five or above. The total score was higher, and the amount per bed log and the rate of top-grade products in the total output were also higher, indicating a significant correlation. These findings will provide consulting services to oak mushroom growers as they highlight the correlation between the higher scores of indicators in the oak mushroom management standard diagnostic table and the management performance of farmers. We found that the scores of the indicators for management administration, such as management record and analysis and fund plan were relatively lower than those of other indicators. It is assumed that the owners aging has led to negligence in recording the details on incomes, expenditures, and work and lowered the willingness to make substantial profits. Therefore, it is essential to overcome these problems for profitable oak mushroom farming.
To provide further information for reutilization of the bed-logs decayed by oak mushroom(Lentinus edodes), the properties of wood-based board prepared with mixed materials of normal wood and bed-logs were examined. Wood fibers in bed-logs showed different morphology from normal wood fibers, that is, shorter length and rough surface. Thickness swelling increased with increasing mixing ratio of bed-log. On the other hand, modulus of rupture(MOR) in bending strength decreased. In products, the visual surface of board prepared from higher mixing rate of bed-log chips was smooth. Consquently, it is considered that the optimum mixing rate of bed-log to normal wood is the range of 25-50% and the bed-log can be used for raw material of board instead of normal wood.
We monitored the occurrence of fungal species on bed-logs inoculated with oak mushroom (Lentinula edodes) and the environmental conditions of temperature and humidity in the cultivation houses during monsoon. Six fungal species, viz., Cladosporium sp., C. cladosporioides, C. anthropophilum, Pleosporales sp., Trichoderma harzianum, and Acremonium sp., wereidentified from the cultivation houses located in Jangheung, Jeonnam province. This identification was confirmed by performing nucleotide sequence analysis of the internal transcribed spacer and 28S rDNA regions. Our study presents significant findings that can help in preventing fungal damage induced by inappropriate temperature and humidity in oak mushroom cultivation houses.

Oak mushroom is cultivated using logs and sawdust media as substrates. In this study, fungi were isolated during a monitoring of indoor air in the oak mushroom cultivation houses located in Cheongyang-gun of Chungnam, Geoje-gun of Gyeongnam, Gumi-si of Gyeongbuk, Jangheung-gun of Jeonnam and Yeoju-si of Gyeongggi-do. Identification of the fungi based on morphology and molecular analysis of the internal transcribed spacer region and 28S rDNA, translation elongation factor translation elongation factor 1 a gene, and ${\beta}-tubulin$ gene revealed that six fungi, Cenangium acuum, Neopestalotiopsis surinamensis, Metarhizium marquandii, Periconia macrospinosa, Trichoderma petersenii, and Trichoderma paratroviride that have not been recorded previously in Korea.
This study was performed to investigate the antagonistic properties of mushroom strains against Korean oak wilt pathogen (Raffaelea quercus-mongolicae) by assessing their predominance on potato dextrose agar plates after pairing culture. Among the total of 158 strains of mushroom tested, thirty-three strains showed no antagonistic activities against the pathogen in both the short term (6~7 days) and long term (27~31 days). Ninety-six strains of tested mushrooms had a weak or no long term antagonistic activity. The antagonistic activities of 29 strains were higher than those of other strains with the levels of $\geq$ R+ and $\geq$ R for short and long term, respectively. We found that these strains with antagonistic activities against R. quercus-mongolicae belong to the species of mushrooms living on different host plants such as conifers, oaks and other broad-leaved trees. In order to use the trees damaged by Korean oak wilt as a resource(bed-log) for cultivating mushrooms, seven strains of antagonist 29 strains were selected as follows; Laetiporus sulphureus KFRI 654, Laetiporus miniatus KFRI 914, Lentinula edodes KFRI 269 and 764, Pycnoporus coccineus KFRI 588, Schizophyllum commune KFRI 832 and Trametes versicolor KFRI 100.
