  • This study examines the effect of college students' interpersonal relations disposition on appearance concern and appearance management behavior. Questionnaires were administered to 202 college students living in Daegu. The SPSS 20.0 package was utilized for data analysis which included frequency analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, cluster analysis, regression analysis, t-test and logistic regression. Five factors of appearance management behavior (body management behavior, skin care behavior, hair/fashion behavior, cosmetics usage behavior, plastic surgery behavior), seven factors of interpersonal relations disposition (independent/responsibility, sympathetic/receptive, sociable/friendly, competitive/aggressively, conspicuous/narcissistic, defiant/distrust, dominant /supreme) and two groups of appearance concern (high, low) were utilized for the problem analysis of the study. The results of this study were: First, Interpersonal relations disposition had an influence on appearance management behavior. Conspicuous/narcissistic type showed a positive influence on body management behavior, skin care behavior, hair/fashion behavior, cosmetics usage behavior, plastic surgery behavior. The sympathetic/receptive type showed a positive influence on skin care behavior and the competitive/aggressively type showed a positive influence on hair/fashion behavior; however, independent/responsibility type showed a negative influence on cosmetic usage behavior. Second, dominant /supreme type showed a negative influence on appearance concern; however, conspicuous/narcissistic type and defiant/distrust type showed a positive influence on appearance concern. Third, the appearance concern groups showed differences on appearance management behavior. The higher appearance concern group compared to the low appearance concern group were more active for cosmetics usage behavior, hair/fashion behavior, plastic surgery behavior, body management behavior and skin care behavior.

  • Career indecision has long been a phenomenon of interest to parents, faculty, school counselors, and others who advise young adults on their career choices. The earliest work on career indecision focused almost exclusively on the negative consequences that young adults faced as a result of lack of self-insight into their own skills and abilities, lack of specific information about various occupations and labor markets, and fear of commitment to any career path in particular. More recently, researchers have noted that some of the short run negative consequences of early career indecision may ultimately lead to long-term positive consequences, particularly if better person-occupation fit is achieved as a result of young adults' extended search behavior. Extroversion, agreeableness, emotional stability, and openness showed to have negative effects on indecisiveness. In case of lack of job information, only extroversion and emotional stability showed to have negative effects on indecisiveness, and openness showed negative effect. Indecisiveness has negative effect on preparatory job search behavior. Lack of information has negative effect on preparatory job search behavior and active job search behavior.

  • Monitoring and assessing aquatic ecosystems using the behavior of organisms is essential for sustainable ecosystem management. Oligochaetes, which inhabit various freshwater ecosystems, are frequently used to evaluate the environmental conditions of freshwater ecosystems. Tubifex tubifex (Müller, 1774) (Oligochaeta, Tubificidae) is tolerant to organic pollution and has been used to evaluate the toxicity of toxicants, including heavy metals. We studied the behavioral responses of T. tubifex to three different copper concentrations (0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 mg L-1). The specimens were exposed to copper in an observation cage containing 150 mL of dechlorinated water. Movement behavior (diameter, speed, acceleration, meander, and turning rate) was continuously observed for two hours before and after the copper treatments. After the treatments, the diameter shrank and showed rapid twisting movement under all the copper conditions. The turning rate had a positive correlation with meander and acceleration both before and after treatment at all three concentrations, whereas speed and meander had a negative correlation. Length and turning rate also showed a negative correlation. The correlation coefficient between speed and acceleration in the highest copper concentration changed from positive before treatment (r=0.64) to negative (r= -0.52) after treatment. Our results present the possibility of using behavioral parameters to detect copper contamination in freshwater ecosystems.

  • Objectives : This study examined the relationship of parent-related negative life events with mental health and delinquent behaviors among Korean adolescents. Methods : A total of 2,976 high school first-grade pupils (1,498 boys & 1,478 girls) taking part in the third wave of Korean Youth Panel Survey completed a self-administered questionnaire regarding parent-related life events, depressive feelings, suicidal ideation, delinquent behaviors, demographic characteristics, parental socioeconomic status, social support, and social capital. Data analyses were conducted using multivariate logistic regression. Results : After adjusting for all covariates, the more parent-related negative life events adolescents experienced throughout their whole life, the more likely adolescent were to have mental and behavioral problems. A significant dose-response relationship between them was more clearly observed in girls than in boys. The experience of parentrelated negative events during childhood was significantly associated with suicidal ideation and delinquent behaviors for boys, and with depressive feelings for girls during adolescence. Indeed, parental social support, social capital, and having a close friend with delinquent behaviors, especially for girls, partially mediated the relationship between parent-related negative life events and both outcomes. Conclusions : The study showed a clear dose-response relationship of frequency of parent-related negative life events with poor mental and behavioral health for both genders. The residual effect of being exposed to parent-related events during childhood on mental health and delinquent behaviors during adolescence still remained.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of soda, fast food, and ramen consumption on dietary habit and health behavior of adolescents and to investigate pathway of which junk food influencing health status. Methods: The findings of this study were based on the data obtained from the 2015 11th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey. The analysis was accomplished using structural equation model which was designed based on the ideas that junk food consumption affects health status not only directly but also indirectly through eating habit and health behavior. Results: The structural models of both sexes revealed that the more they consumed junk food, the more negative effects it had on eating habit and health behavior. In addition, junk food consumption had an negative influence on health status directly and indirectly through eating habit and health behavior. Conclusions: The study results imply that school health education regarding proper eating habit should be implemented and that related policies should be established since complex individual, social, and environmental factors contribute to adolescents' eating habit.

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine pathways from maternal parenting behavior to externalizing problem behavior through deviant peer affiliation and self-concept. A sample of 405 high school students (184 boys and 221girls) in the Gyeonggi-do region of South Korea completed questionnaires focusing on maternal monitoring and adolescent deviant peer affiliation, self-concept, and externalizing problem behavior. Data were analyzed by structural equation modeling. The results demonstrated that maternal monitoring indirectly influences adolescent externalizing problem behavior through deviant peer affiliation and/or self-concept. When maternal monitoring was perceived as low by adolescents, they were more involved with deviant peers. This was followed by a more negative self-concept. Finally, negative self-concept resulted in more externalizing problem behavior by adolescents. The results emphasize that deviant peer affiliation plays a crucial role in increasing adolescent externalizing problem behavior.

  • This study was designed by paying attention to the negative aspects of the performing arts service. As interest in performing arts increases, various studies on services are being conducted in the performing arts field as well. However, although research on the positive side of performing arts services is steadily increasing, research on the negative side is insufficient. In this study, the limitations of existing studies were supplemented and the study was conducted by applying the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) model for empirical research. The effect of failure of performing arts service as a stimulus variable on the response to complaint behavior through negative emotion as an organism was verified. As a result of the analysis, it was found that among the factors of failure in performing arts services, performance works and personal services had a significant influence on negative emotions. In addition, the influence of negative emotions on public and private complaints was confirmed. Lastly, this study will have academic significance in that it analyzed consumers by converting the factors of service failure of performing arts into variables.
