Purpose: The purposes of this study were to describe the relationship between depression and resilience and to identify variables associated with depression among children with nephrotic syndrome. Method: Data was collected from 45 children who were registered at one hospital in Seoul. The criteria for sample selection were 10 to 15 year-old children who were diagnosed at least 6 month prior. The instruments included a self-reported questionnaire on resilience by Kim, CDI by Beck, and MBRI by Kwak. Descriptive, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analyses were done. Result: The mean score of depression was 11.44 (range:0-54) and resilience was 97.47 (range:32-128). There were significant positive relationships between depression and age (r=0.302, p<.005) and academic achievement (r=-0.318, p<.005). In addition, negative relationships between depression and maternal attitude (r=-0.412, p<.001) and resilience (r=-0.649, p<.001) occurred. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that maternal behavior (${\beta}$=-0.421, p<.005) and resilience (${\beta}$=-0.639, p<.001) were related to depression. Conclusion: Children with higher resilience and with an affectionate mother were less depressed. Thus, it is important to identify strengths of children and help them to increase resilience and implement parenting and counseling programs for parents' of these children. Similar studies with children with other chronic illnesses are needed.

Purpose: This study was to examine the values of marriage, gender-role and having children, and to explore the factors impacting the values of having children by university students. Methods: A cross-sectional design and structured questionnaires were adopted for data collection of university students in September through November, 2011. Structured questionnaires were based on participants' socio-demographics and scales on values of marriage, gender role and children developed by Young-Mi Park. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and hierarchical multiple regression were applied to data analysis. Results: A total of 366 university students participated in this study. Females and nursing students had negative values toward having children and marriage and positive thoughts about the value of gender role. The value of having children was positively associated with marriage (r=.61, p<.001) and negatively with gender role (r=-.11, p<.032). Relationship between gender role and marriage was negative (r=-.28, p<.001). Hierarchical multiple regression found that the value of children was significantly predicted by the value of marriage.
Purpose: The main objectives of this study were to examine relationship between depression and resilience in children with IDDM and identify factors associated with depression. Method: Data were collected from 63 children whose ages ranged from 10 to 15 years and who had been diagnosed with IDDM for over six months. Resilience was measured with an instrument developed by Kim (2002) and depression with the CDI by Beck (1967). Descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression analyses were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean score for depression was 11.71 (range: 0-54) and resilience was 99.03 (range: 32-128). There was a significant positive relationship between depression and academic performance (r=0.598, p>.01), and negative relationships between depression and perceived parenting attitude (r=-0.579, p>.01) and resilience (r=-0.577, p>.01). The result of multiple regression analysis showed that academic performance (${\beta}=-0.419$, p>.01), perceived parenting attitude (${\beta}=-0.338$, p>.01) and resilience (${\beta}=-0.219$, p>.05) were statistically significant for depression. Conclusions: The children with IDDM who reported lower resilience, negative parenting attitude, and better academic performance were more depressed. It is important for nurses to identify the strengths of the children with chronic illnesses and to help them increase their resilience level to prevent depression. Parenting classes are necessary to help parents support resilience of their children and counseling programs for mothers of these children are also recommended.
The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship among self-regulation and multiple intelligences of preschool children. The participants were 275 children between the ages 3, 4 and 5 and their mothers and teachers from kindergarten in Ulsan. The collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS v.21 computer program. The major results of this study were as follows; First, children's self-regulation ability was statistical significant disparity between sex and age. Second, children's Spatial Intelligence and Linguistic Intelligence were statistical significant disparity between sex and age. Logical-mathematical Intelligence, Interpersonal Intelligence were statistical significant disparity only age. Musical Intelligence, Intrapersonal Intelligence were statistical significant disparity only sex. but Bodily-kinesthetic Intelligence was not statistical insignificant disparity between sex and age. Third, Intrapersonal Intelligence, Linguistic Intelligence, Spatial Intelligence, Logical-mathematical Intelligence and Interpersonal Intelligence were significant predictors on children's self-regulation ability. These results could be used as stepping stone in developing preschool children's self-regulation program in near future.
Objective: The current study aimed at examining the mediation effects of children's self-esteem and self-control in learning between perceived academic achievement at $4^{th}$ grade and $6^{th}$ grade. This article proposes that perceived academic achievement boosts self-esteem and self-control in learning and both in turn, influence subsequent perceived academic achievement. We especially attempted to empirically prove that a serial multiple mediation of self-esteem and self-control in learning between the perceived academic achievement at two time points exists. Methods: We analyzed the longitudinal data of 1,881 children from the $4^{th}$ to the $6^{th}$ wave data of the '2010 Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS)' by means of a Hayes's PROCESS(2012) program. Results: The results revealed that perceived academic achievement at $4^{th}$ grade influenced children's self-esteem and self-control in learning at $5^{th}$ grade. Children' self-esteem and self-control in learning subsequently predicted perceived academic achievement at $6^{th}$ grade. Children's self-esteem significantly predicted self-control in learning supporting the hypothesis of serial multiple mediation. Conclusion/Implications: In conclusion, children's self-esteem and self-control in learning behaviors both mediated the association between perceived academic achievement at $4^{th}$ grade and at $6^{th}$ grade. The findings imply the importance of consideration of both psychosocial and behavioral aspects in understanding the academic performance during childhood.
Background: The purpose of this study is to examine the multiple-parallel mediation effects of self-esteem and body-image on the relationship between peer attachment and happiness in children with chronic diseases. In addition, this study aims to provide a basis for supporting psychological services alongside therapeutic services as a way to increase the overall happiness of children with chronic diseases. Design: This study utilized data from the 2020 Panel Study on Korean Children. Methods: The survey method was conducted as a survey by investigators, and the number of cases used in the study was 363. Results: First, children's peer attachment is associated with higher levels of overall happiness. Second, it can see that peer attachment not only increases self-esteem, but also leads to a positive perception of one's own body-image. Third, it can be seen that peer attachment, high self-esteem, and positive perception of body-image increase children's overall happiness. Finally, it can be seen that peer attachment can increase children's happiness through self-esteem and body-image Conclusion: It is thought that a more positive prognosis can be expected when psychological support is provided together with therapeutic treatment in providing medical services for children with chronic diseases.

Digital edutainment games and educational content to the concept of combining learning and to draw conclusions that can be varied and fun learning program. Yet effective design. There's a lot of discussion about the systematic and scientific research, explore the difficult, but so is the growing field of endless possibility. Merely a linguistic capabilities of human intelligence and mathematical ability were measured primarily on issues raised in the traditional intelligence tests, and emerged a variety of multiple intelligences theory of human intelligence classified into 8 types and characteristics of each intelligence activities and guidelines for faculty are presented. These lessons are based on multiple intelligences theory professor activities through the design study for students to form learning activities to meet effectively and systematically conducted classes, and student-specific classes can be designed. In this study, multiple intelligences theory, based on children's edutainment content by linguistic intelligence, and intrapersonal intelligence body-kinestic intelligent and can learn by linking to content that was designed. Children interested in animation and gaming content through the feeling that you can become stiff in Korean alphabet education to solve the quests were designed to be a natural puleonagal.
This research analyzed differences between parents and teachers in assessment of young children's potential abilities based on multiple intelligences theory. Subjects were 10 boys and 10 girls, 4 and 5 years of age and their parents and teachers. Children's potential abilities were measured by the Korean Project Spectrum(KPS) and by the assessments of parents and teachers. Data were analyzed by SPSS. Statistical methods were Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, t-test, and Pearson's and Spearman's correlations. Results revealed differences between the assessments of parents and of teachers. While teacher assessments were very similar to the results of the KPS on logical mathematical and linguistic intelligence, the results of parents' assessments were different from the results of the KPS on musical, interpersonal-intrapersonal, and naturalistic intelligence.
Gifted children cultivate their many talents through experience. For the purpose of revealing the talents or abilities of gifted children, it is necessary to provide them with various types of environment for their exploration from the early stage of their school age. In addition, knowing their concern, aptitude and interest from the early stage of their school age will be much helpful for them to grow, advance and search for their future career path. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to examine the definitional and cognitive characteristics of gifted children through tests on the creative disposition, creative thinking power, multiple intelligences and morality of gifted children at the early stage of their school age in order to provide basic information on the gifted children studies. Accordingly, 90 gifted children were selected as the participants of this study through observation and recommendation. The result showed much difference between the second grade and the third grade in their creative disposition, creative thinking power, multiple intelligences and morality according to school year. As for the difference according to gender, the second grade female students showed meaningful differences in the sub-domain of creative disposition, multiple intelligences and morality and the third grade showed no differences. Such study result shows that students in upper school year clearly have their own sense of purpose.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the level of burden and social support of mothers with Cerebral Palsy (CP) children, and to determine whether providing social support is an effective strategy to relieve the burden of those mothers. Method: From October to November 2007, the data were collected from 63 mothers with CP children who were admitted and treated for CP at Y rehabilitation center in Seoul. The data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Stepwise Multiple Regression using SPSS 12.0. Results: Burden of mothers was related to the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) of the CP children. Social support was negatively correlated and GMFCS was positively correlated with burden of mothers. Social support and GMFCS was statistically significantly related with burden of mothers with CP children by multiple regression analysis. Conclusion: There was a significantly negative correlation between social support and burden. It demonstrated that social support, an important factor relating to burden imposed on mothers of CP children, can be considered as an intervening variable which can contribute to decrease of burden. In addition, applying developmental screening measures are needed to decrease disability severity.
