For these purposes, the learning and instructional theories and the developing phases and strategies for the program were reviewed to design the CAI program. And then the developing unit was selected and the CAI types and the developing direction were set according to the analysis of the CAI programs and related literatures on home economics teaching, The four phases-analysis, design, development, and formative evaluation-were carried out in this study. The results of this study are as following: 1. The CAI porgram was developed on health and food life units. The program contains 12 classes on health and food life in two floppy diskettes. It consisted of total 9,000 lines and 76 frame and takes two hours to study this program. This program could be used in educational computers an could be utilized for unit learing tutorial. It was composed of three parts-unit learning, finding maze, and finding food. In the unit learning part, the learning contents in health and food life units were structured and presented. In finding maze and food part, the basic and the applied problems were presented with game. The characteristics of this program were as followings: (1)This program was able to bring learners’motivation due to the strategies of tutorial and instructional game and they can interestingly learn the program for themselves. (2) The learner could practive the learning contents repeatedly and unit learning while playing the gaming, (3) The learner himself can review and supplement the learning contents without teacher’s help. (4) This program was developed to unit learning on health and food life, on the other hand so far many CAI programs for home economics teaching were developed for studying separate learning units. 2. To effectively utilize this program, the guide book for the student and the teacher was developed. The purpose of this study was to explore the identity of home economics(HE) education by assessing perceptions of HE teacher, students, and general adults regarding the images and characteristics of HE education. Respondents in this study were 234 HE teachers, 505 students, and 264 general adults. Questionnaires were collected through both online and offline. The image and the characteristics of HE education were the factors of the identity that were also the byproducts of HE education operation of the past and present, and had the characteristics in changing in accordance with the change of time. The current image of HE education was shown to positive recognition as the curriculum helpful to the actual living and future living for the HE teacher, students, and the general adults. For the HE teacher, it had strong emotionally warm image similar to the image of 'home', and it was connected to the curriculum image to be acknowledged as good problem solving teachers in terms of competence and conservative image. However, on the images of the HE curriculum and HE teacher, the HE teachers had the most positive recognition, and on the image of the HE curriculum, the students had the most negative recognition while the image of the HE teacher, the general adults had the most negative recognition. The general adults among the three groups recognized the HE curriculum as the most technical oriented curriculum while the students recognized as interesting curriculum, curriculum contributing on society. In the meantime, for the characteristic of the HE education, the HE teachers recognized that it had weak female curriculum characteristics and strong living functional curriculum characteristics, and the practical curriculum characteristics would be important in the future. Accordingly, the identity of the HE education formulated might be considered as the practical curriculum that was helpful to problem solving in actual living of the family and family members with the connection to the concept of 'home'. However, depending on the definition on implication of practice and issue of actual living, the characteristics and appearance of the HE education had been changed and might interpret as changing according to the above.for the fertility policy and the methods for the estimation of the child cost were suggested based on the results.

This study examined the organization and operation of home economics curriculum of specialized middle school in the form of regular school among alternative schools and analyzed the perceptions of teachers and students about home economics class. Interviews were conducted with teachers of 6 specialized schools in order to determine the operations and teachers' perceptions of home economics education. Students' perceptions for home economics class were gathered through surveys with students from the 3 (of the original 6) schools that authorized the questionnaire survey. The final analysis utilized 205 student responses. Survey data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The results of the research were as follows: First, home economics education within specialized middle schools was mostly conducted according to the form of the technology-home economics curriculum, which is the national common basic curriculum. Compared to the 7th national curriculum, the class of technology-home economics curriculum in 4 schools occurred 1 hour less each week. Each school incorporated various specialized curricula related to home economics. Second, as for the operation of home economics education in specialized schools, most home economics classes were conducted by teachers who had majored (or minored) in home economics. Moreover, all but 1 school, which used self-made materials, used the national textbook and dealt with the entire content of the textbook. For teaching-learning methods and instructional media, various means were utilized. For evaluation methods, most schools based grades on paper-and-pencil tests(50-60%) and performance tests(40-50%). Third, among teachers' perceptions of home economics education, the meaning of home economics education was focused on practical help and the pursuit of home happiness; the purpose was to realize the happiness of students and their homes by applying these to actual living, and increase students' ability to see the world. In regards to difficulties in educational operations, most pointed out poor conditions of practice rooms. As for differences from general schools, most teachers mentioned the active communication with students. Fourth, through the home economics class, it was found that students perceived the goal of technology-home economics curricula as lower than average. Among students' perceptions about home economics class, most were negative. Perceptions about goal of technology-home economics curricula and home economics class also showed meaningful differences according to each school. Students of the school, which had more home economics class hours and specialized curricula related to home economics, perceived more positively. Also, students who were more satisfied with school and learned from a teacher who majored in home economics tended to perceive home economics class more positively.
This study examined the influences of middle school students' affective empathy and guilt-proneness on defending behavior against bullying and investigated if class climate (teacher support and student support) had moderating effects. The participants consisted of 163 second to third grade students (77 boys and 86 girls) in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression. Moderating effects were examined using multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicated that guilt-proneness, teacher support, and student support had significant effects on the defending behavior of middle school students. The higher the level of guilt-proneness, the higher the level of defending behavior. Defending behavior was also higher when students perceived a belongingness to a classroom where their teacher and students provided support. However, affective empathy had no effect on defending behavior. Second, teacher support moderated the relation between guilt-proneness and defending behavior. The effects of guilt-proneness on defending behavior against bullying were greater when teacher support was high compared to low. The results suggested that guilt-proneness and classroom climate play important roles in increasing defending behavior in middle school students. Some implications for future research were also discussed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate middle school home economics(HE) teachers' perception and needs on self supervision related to HE subject matter, Using the methods of survey and interview, 177 samples were collected. For collected surveys, mean value, standard deviation, frequency, percentage analysis were performed by using an SPSS/Win (ver10.1) program. The results of this study were as follows. First, the middle school HE teachers recognized that self supervision related to HE subject matter was absolutely needed to expand the improvement of techniques for teaching instructions and the width of knowledge on the studies on textbook. Second, the middle school HE teachers recognized the necessary parts of self supervision related to HE subject matter as HE teaching-learning methods, the studies on textbook contents, and HE education philosophy in order. Third, the middle school HE teachers recognized that it would be helpful in improving their HE class and expertise in order of field survey, participation in various training programs, utilization of mass media, participation in societies for researches and meetings and information sharing with co-teachers among the types of self supervision. Fourth, the middle school HE teachers needed the reduction in miscellaneous duties, less pressure for time, restoration of teachers' desire, support of physical resources (improvement of various environments such as classrooms and special rooms), economic support and various support programs (expanding the opportunities to participate in training and society and establishment of a database for relevant materials, etc.) to facilitate self supervision. As such, the middle school HE teachers' overall recognition on HE-related self supervision became significantly higher. To enhance the HE-related expertise, however, it would be necessary to conduct concrete and active support for HE education, philosophical area and the studies on textbook contents as well as the teaching-learning methods for HE in which teachers' demand was high. In addition, the HE teachers wanted to have an easy and quick access to various HE-related data; therefore, it would be urgent to summarize scattered relevant data and support the HE teachers more systematically.
