  • This paper develops a mathematical model which searches an optimum lot size of a press line, and applies this model to the scheduling of the press line. This mathematical model is not a widely studied cost model but a model which considers the utilization of the press line under a lean production system. In this paper, the optimum lot size is a minimum lot size which does not exceed the total work time of the press line. A production volume and the priority of the production in the press line are adjusted using this optimum lot size. A mathematical model developed in this paper will allow determining the optimum lot size easily in case of variable production environments such as an introduction of a new product and a fluctuation of production volume of each item. Therefore, our model will make a better scheduling of the press line and will enhance the utilization of it.

  • This study is to find the optimal lot size method in the distribution system. In general, the lot size methods used in the distribution system is the same as the methods of the MRP system. The lot size methods used in this study are LFL, EoQ, LTC and POQ.. Resulting in case study, LTC is the optimal lot size method in the distribution system. In distribution system, VRP and VSP shall be investgated.

  • Many producers put sampling inspection policy into the way of their convenience. Examples of the convenience are irregular lot size and too small sample size. Because they don't use a standard sampling inspection policy, they can not guarantee the quality level of their products. In this study, we developed a user-centered design program which can calculate the AOQL of their products to their buyers in the case of irregular lot size and too small sample size. Also this program propose a linear inspection cost by Hald's model.

  • Economic Lot size decision is studied on this thesis foe the muti-product small batch production system. Even though economic lot size decision has been studied for the MRP system. this could be applied at the industry under the multi-product small batch production system because of very complicate and manager's lack of understand. Therefore, this technique is applied at the industry in order to minimize ordering cosy based on optimal quantity and period, and holding cost according to optimize inventory level under the muti-product small batch production system. After that, lot size decision technique is compared with lot size decision technique which has been used for analyzing and emphasizing productivity

  • This paper presents an EMQ model which determines an optimal manufacturing lot size in an unreliable machine. The machine has an exponentially distributed life time, and requires a constant time to repair when it fails. We 1) derive an average cost function, 2) obtain an optimal lot size and show that it is unique, 3) carry out sensitivity analysis to examine the effect of machine parameters (life time, time to repair) to optimal lot size.

  • Set-up reduction is an important aspect of the Japanese Just-In-Time (JIT) and Zero Inventory (ZI) concepts. In this paper, we first analyze the effects of set-up cost reduction on tatal inventory, average lot size and forecast horizon in the dynamic lot size model. We also examine the various effects of set-up cost reduction in the EOQ model and explain why many Japanese firms try to cut set-up cost and/or set-up time greatly.

  • Previous MRP models were developed without considering learning effects on the determination of the production lot size environment. The only consideration was the setup and inventory holding costs. In this paper the proposed MRP model were developed incorporated the effects of learning. The result of this model show that learning significantly influence the production lot size and total variable cost. The numerical examples have been used to illustrated the impact of proposed model.

  • We consider the sensitivity of average inventory cost rate when true values of the parameters in the EOQ model are unknown over known ranges. In particular, in the case that the valid range on the true economic lot size are known, we provide a formula for estimating the lot size under minimax criterion. Moreover, to estimate the valid range, we apply the propagation of errors technique. Then, we present a scheme to find a (valid) lot size, based on the estimated range of the true lot size from the propagation of errors technique.

  • This paper deals with an assembly process of the TFT glasses and the color filters in LCD manufacturing. Two specific problems are presented and solved. One is a matching problem to find the best matches between a set of TFT glasses and a set of color filters, which result in the maximum number of good LCD assemblies. A simple mathematical model is constructed for this problem and an optimal solution can be obtained using an existing algorithm. The other is a main problem that requires a determination of an economic lot size of the color filters which are going to be assembled with a given set of TFT glasses. A Bayesian dynamic forecasting model is developed to predict the defective patterns of color filters. Based on the predicted defective rate of color filters, the minimum lot size of the color filters can be determined to minimize the probability of losing good TFT glasses and color filters.
