Globalization of the industry induces the internationalization of any given manufacturing company's supply chain. Development of e-Commerce and Information Technology (IT) changes the logistics structure, making logistics information systems essential. Web-based connectivity and supply chains based on new technologies are becoming essential in the logistics industry. Customers are driving the implementation of systems to ensure timely, thorough, and accurate information, often with immediate access; in response, the Internet has propagated tracking and tracing systems. Value-added services are the key to successful intermediary activities. The nationwide Integrated Logistics Information System (ILIS) aimed to utilize existing and future information infrastructure and knowledge bases to build an integrated logistics information network that would provide comprehensive logistics information services for shippers and carriers in order to improve the efficiency of both inventory and information flows in their supply chains. The ILIS, as one of the seven national information networks, has provided various services, particularly services related to import/export and clearance. Though a survey concerning logistics information services shows rather positive results, shippers and carriers still require better services and reductions in EDI prices. Therefore, the role of the ILIS needs to be re-defined. Short-term plans for the ILIS contain ICD services and XML/EDI services, which are described in detail.
Tube Lines has carried out a "knowledge and investigation programme" on the deep tube tunnels comprising the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines, as required by the PPP contract with London Underground. Many of the tunnels have been in use for over 100 years, so this assessment was considered essential to the future safe functioning of the system. This programme has involved a number of generic investigations which guide the assessment methodology and the analysis of some 5,000 individual structures. A significant amount of investigation has been carried out, including ultrasonic thickness measurement, detection of brickwork laminations using radar, stress measurement using magnetic techniques, determination of soil parameters using CPT, pressuremeter and laboratory testing, installation of piezometers, material and tunnel segment testing, and trialling of remote photographic techniques for inspection of large tunnels and shafts. Vibrating wire, potentiometer, electro level, optical and fibre-optic monitoring has been used, and laser measurement and laser scanning has been employed to measure tunnel circularity. It is considered that there is scope for considerable improvements in non-destructive testing technology for structural assessment in particular, and some ideas are offered as a "wish-list". Assessment reports have now been produced for all assets forming Tube Lines' deep tube tunnel network. For assets which are non-compliant with London Underground standards, the risk to the operating railway has to be maintained as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) using enhanced inspection and monitoring, or repair where required. Monitoring techniques have developed greatly during recent years and further advances will continue to support the economic whole life asset management of infrastructure networks.

Research underlined that Small and Medium Enterprises' performance is enhanced by different types of innovation capabilities. This research tends to present a comprehensive model to explain the relationship between innovation capabilities and SMEs' financial and operational performance. Specifically, this study tends to achieve three objectives: explores the set of product, process, organizational and marketing innovation capabilities possessed by owners/managers of SMEs and their impact on Chinese manufacturing SMEs' operational and financial performance dimensions, identify the determinants of innovation capabilities, and determine the contextual factors that moderate innovation capabilities and SMEs' performance. This research employed a qualitative research method using in-depth interviews with eight owners/managers of Chinese manufacturing SMEs. Research findings revealed that product and marketing innovation capabilities have a significant impact on SMEs' financial performance while process and organizational innovation capabilities positively influence SMEs' operational performance. The major determinants of innovation capabilities involved availability of sufficient organizational resources, entrepreneurial orientation, knowledge development and external networks. The contextual moderating factors on the relationship between innovation capabilities and SMEs' performance involved internal factors which are: SME size, SMEs' owner/manager work experience, entrepreneurial mindset; and external factors: market dynamism and cooperation strategies. This paper ends by drawing some concluding remarks and proposing future research avenues.
Among the effector molecules connected with the group of cell surface receptors, Ras proteins have essential roles in transducing extracellular signals to diverse intracellular events, by controlling the activities of multiple signaling pathways. For over 20 years since the discovery of Ras proteins, an enormous amount of knowledge has been accumulated as to how the proteins function in overlapping or distinct fashions. The signaling networks they regulate are very complex due to their multiple functions and cross-talks. Much attention has been paid to the pathological role of Ras in tumorigenesis. In particular, human tumors very frequently express Ras proteins constitutively activated by point mutations. Up to date, three members of the Ras family have been identified, namely H-Ras, K-Ras (A and B), and N-Ras. Although these Ras isoforms function in similar ways, many evidences also support the distinct molecular function of each Ras protein. This review summarizes differential functions of Ras and highlights the current view of the distinct signaling network regulated by each Ras for its contribution to the malignant phenotypic conversion of breast epithelial cells. Four issues are addressed in this review: (1) Ras proteins, (2) membrane localization of Ras, (3) effector molecules downstream of Ras, (4) Ras signaling in invasion. In spite of the accumulation of information on the differential functions of Ras, much more remains to be elucidated to understand the Ras-mediated molecular events of malignant phenotypic conversion of cells in a greater detail.

This paper proposes a robust adaptive fuzzy backstepping control scheme for trajectory tracking of an electrically driven nonholonomic mobile robot with uncertainties and actuator dynamics. A complete model of an electrically driven nonholonomic mobile robot described in this work includes all models of the uncertain robot kinematics with a nonholonomic constraint, the uncertain robot body dynamics with uncertain frictions and unmodeled disturbances, and the uncertain actuator dynamics with disturbances. The proposed control scheme uses the backstepping control approach through a kinematic controller and a robust adaptive fuzzy velocity tracking controller. The presented control scheme has a voltage control input with an auxiliary current control input rather than a torque control input. It has two FBFNs(Fuzzy Basis Function Networks) to approximate two unknown nonlinear robot dynamic functions and a robust adaptive control input with the proposed adaptive laws to overcome the uncertainties such as parameter uncertainties and external disturbances. The proposed control scheme does not a priori require the accurate knowledge of all parameters in the robot kinematics, robot dynamics and actuator dynamics. It can also alleviate the chattering of the control input. Using the Lyapunov stability theory, the stability of the closed-loop robot control system is guaranteed. Simulation results show the validity and robustness of the proposed control scheme.

This paper introduces unmaned fully automation systems, which are applied for the CSTR(Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor) and SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) wastewater treatment system. The pilot plant is constructed in the country side which is little far from a main city. So networks and wireless modules are employed for the data transmission. The SBR plant has a local control and the remote monitoring system which is contained communication parts which consist of ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) network and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) Wireless module. Remote control and monitoring systems are constructed at laboratory in a metropolis.

Thanks to recent advance of next generation sequencing techniques, RNA-seq enabled to have an unprecedented opportunity to identify transcript variants with isoform diversity and allelic imbalance (Anders et al., 2012) by different transcriptional rates. To date, it is well known that those features might be associated with the aberrant patterns of disease complexity such as tissue (Anders and Huber, 2010; Anders et al., 2012; Nariai et al., 2014) specific differential expression at isoform levels or tissue specific allelic imbalance in mal-functionality of disease processes, etc. Nevertheless, the knowledge of post-transcriptional modification and AI in transcriptomic and genomic areas has been little known in the traditional platforms due to the limitation of technology and insufficient resolution. We here stress the potential of isoform variability and allelic specific expression that are relevant to the abnormality of disease mechanisms in transcriptional genetic regulatory networks. In addition, we systematically review how robust Bayesian approaches in RNA-seq have been developed and utilized in this regard in the field.

The advance of the smart working environment came the expectation that it would innovate and revolutionize the way people work, particularly in a society where smart work is readily available for creating a collaborative and 'connected' business. One of the core infrastructure elements for making smart work a viable option is the smart work center, the promotion of which requires a new form of 'smart work center business model' that can satisfy the purposes of both public services and private businesses. This calls for collaboration between the public and private sectors. Recently a number of businesses have been making significant headway in the creation of a new environment for business support and collaboration by adopting a sharing economy business model in their offices. The so-called 'Coworking Space' is an advanced form of business environment in the emerging 'smart work' era, and comes with the benefits of reduced costs as a result of sharing office space and knowledge sharing through the use of human networks. This paper describes the framework of a 'smart work center business model based on the sharing economy' using a BMC (Business Model Canvas), with an understanding of the characteristics inherent to the smart work center and the sharing economy. It was on the basis of this framework that a smart work center model for business incubation and startup, a private smart work center model for childcare services, and a community marketplace model with a global network were developed.
Short term load forecasts complexly affected by socioeconomic factors and weather variables have non-linear characteristics. Thus far, researchers have improved load forecast technologies through diverse techniques such as artificial neural networks, fuzzy theories, and statistical methods in order to enhance the accuracy of load forecasts. Short term load forecast errors for special days are relatively much higher than that of weekdays. The errors are mainly caused by the irregularity of social activities and insufficient similar past data required for constructing load forecast models. In this study, the load characteristics of Lunar New Year's Day holidays well known for the highest error occurrence holiday period are analyzed to propose a load forecast technique for Lunar New Year's Day holidays. To solve the insufficient input data problem, the similarity of the load patterns of past Lunar New Year's Day holidays having similar patterns was judged by Euclid distance. Lunar New Year's Day holidays periods for 2011-2012 were forecasted by the proposed method which shows that the proposed algorithm yields better results than the comprehensive analysis method or the knowledge-based method.

This paper presents the Genetic Algorithm based Task Scheduling (GATS) method for the scheduling of programs with diverse embedded parallelism types in Distributed Parallel Systems, which consist of a set of loosely coupled parallel and vector machines connected via high speed networks The distributed parallel processing tries to solve computationally intensive problems that have several types of parallelism, on a suite of high performance and parallel machines in a manner that best utilizes the capabilities of each machine. When scheduling in distributed parallel systems, the matching of the parallelism characteristics between tasks and parallel machines rather than load balancing should be carefully handled with the minimization of communication cost in order to obtain more speedup. This paper proposes the based initialization methods for an initial population and the knowledge-based mutation methods to accommodate the parallelism type matching in genetic algorithms.
