  • In this paper, we define the generalized k-balancing numbers {B(k)n} and k-Lucas balancing numbers {C(k)n} and associated polynomials, where n is of the form sk+r, 0 ≤ r < k. We give several formulas for these new sequences in terms of classic balancing and Lucas balancing numbers and study their properties. Moreover, we give a Binet style formula, Cassini's identity, and binomial sums of these sequences.

  • Much research has focused on the conflict and balance between work and family. Yet few studies examine how women feel in balancing these two roles. In that regard, this study examines how married working women feel balanced between work and family as well as the levels of support availability/demand that exists. The level of sense of balance regarding work-family is average. Sense of balance is related to age, income, work hours, size of workplace, numbers of family friendly policies, the family's attitude to woman's work, and the level of balancing strategies used. The demand for support is higher than the availability of support. Both factors are related to working hours and balancing strategies, etc.

  • Disassembly is one of the important activities in treating with the product at the End of Life time (EOL). Disassembly is defined as a systematic technique in dividing the products into its constituent elements, segments, sub-assemblies, and other groups. We concern with a Fuzzy Disassembly Line Balancing Problem (FDLBP) with multiple objectives in this article that it needs to allocation of disassembly tasks to the ordered group of disassembly Work Stations. Tasks-processing times are fuzzy numbers with triangular membership functions. Four objectives are acquired that include: (1) Minimization of number of disassembly work stations; (2) Minimization of sum of idle time periods from all work stations by ensuring from similar idle time at any work-station; (3) Maximization of preference in removal the hazardous parts at the shortest possible time; and (4) Maximization of preference in removal the high-demand parts before low-demand parts. This suggested model was initially solved by GAMS software and then using Genetic Algorithm (GA) in MATLAB software. This model has been utilized to balance automotive engine disassembly line in fuzzy environment. The fuzzy results derived from two software programs have been compared by ranking technique using mean and fuzzy dispersion with each other. The result of this comparison shows that genetic algorithm and solving it by MATLAB may be assumed as an efficient solution and effective algorithm to solve FDLBP in terms of quality of solution and determination of optimal sequence.

  • To reduce system complexity and implementation costs, fully-controlled H-bridge (FHB) modules and diode H-bridge PFC (DHB) modules are cascaded to form a hybrid cascaded H-bridge rectifier (HCHR). In this paper, the advantages of such a HCHR over other cascaded rectifiers are analyzed depending on the numbers of FHB modules and DHB modules. Therefore, to assign proper numbers to these two kinds of modules for the HCHR, a configuration determination method is investigated under balanced and imbalanced loads. Three principles are also presented to guide the configuration determination for the HCHR. In addition, the constraints for selecting the step-up ratio and filter inductance are derived based on a phasor diagram analysis. The proposed configuration determination method is validated by simulations under three different conditions in the PSIM environment. Finally, experiments are carried out on a scaled-down prototype where the configuration can be easily adjusted. The feasibility of the proposed theory is then verified by experimental results.

  • This article is concerned with choice-based conjoint analysis versus rating-based and ranking-based conjoint analysis. Choice-based conjoint analysis has a definite advantage in that the respondent's task of choosing the most preferred profile from several competing profiles adequately mimics consumer marketplace behavior. It is crucial to design the choice sets appropriate for the choice-based conjoint. Thus, this article suggests a new method to design the choice sets that are well-balanced. It augments the balanced incomplete block design and then obtains the dual design of the result to accommodate various numbers of profiles. In consequence, the choice sets designed by the new method have the desirable characteristics that each profile is presented to the same number of respondents, and pairs of any two distinct profiles occur together in the same number of choice sets. The balancing of the design increases the efficiency of the conjoint analysis. In addition, the pair-comparison scheme can improve the quality of data through the identification of contradictory responses.

  • The current paper presents a novel control strategy of a three-phase, four-wire Unified Power Quality (UPQC) to improve power quality. The UPQC is realized by the integration of series and shunt active power filters (APF) sharing a common dc bus capacitor. The realization of shunt APF is carried out using a three-phase, four-leg Voltage Source Inverter (VSI), and the series APF is realized using a three-phase, three-leg VSI. To extract the fundamental source voltages as reference signals for series APF, a zero-crossing detector and sample-and-hold circuits are used. For the control of shunt APF, a simple scheme based on the real component of fundamental load current (I $Cos{\Phi}$) with reduced numbers of current sensors is applied. The performance of the applied control algorithm is evaluated in terms of power-factor correction, source neutral current mitigation, load balancing, and mitigation of voltage and current harmonics in a three-phase, four-wire distribution system for different combinations of linear and non-linear loads. The reference signals and sensed signals are used in a hysteresis controller to generate switching signals for shunt and series APFs. In this proposed UPQC control scheme, the current/voltage control is applied to the fundamental supply currents/voltages instead of fast-changing APF currents/voltages, thus reducing the computational delay and the required sensors. MATLAB/Simulink-based simulations that support the functionality of the UPQC are obtained.

  • This study was accomplished to analyse and compare the occlusal contact patterns during eccentric mandibular movements in adult with normal occlusion. 50 subjects(male 27, female 23), who had natural occlusion and no symptom of temporomandibular disorder, were selected. Teeth contact patterns during mandibular eccentric movements were recorded and the distribution of tooth contacts in maximum intercuspation analysed by T-scan system. And then, tooth contact numbers recored by T-scan and silicone bite registration at centric occlusion were analysed and compared. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Antero-posteriorly, the qualitative center of occlusal contacts in centric occlusion were in the first molar areas, but there was a slight deviation in left-right directions. Thus, distribution of occlusal contacts were not bilaterally symmetric. 2. During the mandibular movements from centric occlusal position to right lateral and left lateral directions, the frequency that maxillary canine joined in lateral guidance was relatively high, but pure canine protected occlusion or pure group function occlusion had small frequency. 3. During mandibular protrusive movement, one or more maxillary central incisors frequently joined in protrusive guidance. 4. During mandibular eccentric movements, working and balancing side premature contact was observered in relatively high frequency. 5. In centric occlusal position, the numbers of occlusal contacts recorded on T-scan were relatively smaller than on silicone bite registration.

  • Currently, increasing numbers of access points (AP) are being deployed in enterprise offices, campuses and municipal downtowns for flexible Internet connectivity, but most of these access points are idle or redundant most of the time, which causes significant energy waste. Therefore, with respect to power conservation, applying energy efficient strategies in WIFI networks is strongly advocated. One feasible method is dynamically managing network resources, particularly APs, by powering devices on or off. However, when an AP is powered on, the device is initialized through a long boot time, during which period clients cannot be associated with it; therefore, the network performance would be greatly impacted. In this paper, based on a global view of an entire WLAN, we propose an AP selection technology, known as Temporary Access Selection (TAS). The criterion of TAS is a fusion metric consisting of two evaluation indexes which are based on throughput and battery life, respectively. TAS is both service and clients' preference specific through balancing the data rate, battery life and packet size. TAS also works well independently in traditional WLANs in which no energy efficient strategy is deployed. Moreover, this paper demonstrates the feasibility and performance of TAS through experiments and simulations with Network Simulator version 3 (NS3).

  • Genetic diversity and genetic differentiation of thirteen Pinus densiflora populations in South Korea were estimated using nine ESTP (Expressed Sequence Tag Polymorphism) markers. The numbers of allele and the effective allele were 2.2 and 1.8, respectively. The percentage of polymorphic loci (P) was 98.8%. The observed and the expected heterozygosity were 0.391 and 0.402, respectively, and the eleven populations except for Ahngang and Gangneung population were under Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium state. The level of genetic differentiation (Wright’s FST = 0.057) was higher than those of isozyme or nSSR markers. We could not find out any relationship between the genetic distance and geographic distribution among populations from cluster analysis. Also, the genetic differentiation between populations was not correlated with the geographic distance (r = 0.017 and P = 0.344 from Mantel test). From the result of FST-outlier analysis to identify a locus under selection, six loci were detected at confidence interval of 99% by the frequentist’s method. However, only three loci (sams2+AluⅠ, sams2+RsaⅠ, PtNCS_p14A9+HaeⅢ) were presumed as outliers by Bayesian method. The sams2+AluⅠ and sams2+RsaⅠlocus were originated from the sams2 gene and seemed to be the loci under balancing selection.

  • The efficiency of the purchasing and procurement logistics is important in automotive industry. The rationalization of production system is directly impact on productivity and quality. For this reason importance of logistics is high. Despite we are continuously making effort, our country are still below the level than developed country on logistics efficiency. Rising labor costs is an important factor in increasing logistics costs. So workforce reduction in logistics department is a large part. We deal with A-company inbound logistics, especially procurement logistics in automotive logistics as research object. So in this study we do research on work load balance about workers. We do research on 1,475 kinds of components in procurement process. We applied work load balance algorithm on chassis, final, sequence, trim warehouses workers. According to number of workers and average M/H, algorithm is applied in two ways. After applied work load balance algorithm we reduced numbers of workers from 28 to 20 and improved worker load balance rate from 47.1% to 93.7%.
