Construction of road closed to mountains is inevitable in Korea because the mountainous region in Korea is more than 70% in area. Recently, due to global warming, typhoons or heavy rainfalls frequently occur, and accordingly, mountain roads are seriously damaged by landslides, debris flows, and uplift pressure below pavement. in this study, damage on pavement by uplift pressure was investigated. Various influencing factors such as slope angle, reinforcement of slope surface, thickness of soil cover underlain by rock, and types of drainage system were considered to evaluate uplift pressure acting on the bottom of pavement. Raising of water table up to the surface of slope may depend on the duration and intensity of rainfall. It shows that the installation of subdrain can reduce the uplift water pressure. Therefore, It is concluded that the use of subdrain system is effective to decrease uplift pressure and cement treated base is more endurable than typical crushed-stone base.
This paper presents an evaluation index for the supply levels of pedestrian facilities in residential area planning. The pedestrian facility supply levels reveal the quality of a residential area, and can be associated with the resident living standards and satisfaction, pedestrian safety levels, and the effectiveness of the construction cost. This research conducted multifaceted procedures for the index development, and these procedures start first by identifying dominant influencing factors on pedestrian travel demand by reviewing the final reports of site planning in more than eight already-completed residential development sites. Second, based on the Space Syntax model, which was initially developed in the UK by establishing statistical relationships among an integration index, population size (persons/day), and the total development area, this research formulated a set of pedestrian demand estimation models. Then these models were utilized in forming a pedestrian facility supply index by integrating the new models and their results with the available accepted practice in the residential planning sector. This was necessary because planners want to understand the total supply level of pedestrian facilities in a residential area during the initial design stage. Finally, to test the model validity in satisfying pedestrian satisfaction, the research included a resident satisfaction interview, and it was revealed that the evaluation index developed in this research could provide planners and engineers with more promising results. It is therefore anticipated that this research can be of service when designing pedestrian facilities in future residential area planning and design activities.

This study investigated the use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) over a two-decade period on public roads, focusing on the electromagnetic characteristics of the pavement dielectrics and attenuation. From the results, a typical range of characteristic value, influencing factors, and a correction method were suggested. The typical dielectrics of asphalt pavements were 4-7, as measured by an air-coupled 1 GHz GPR antenna. The dielectrics of concrete pavements were very large in the early age, but were drastically reduced with ageing. Ten years on, collection was in the range of 6-12. The dielectrics were proportional to the relative humidity (R.H.) of the atmosphere. The effects were reduced to one eighth with an overlay. Attenuation generally increased with thickness of the road layer, and also increased where there was damage. The GPR results could also vary depending on the weather conditions as well as on the characteristics of the GPR equipment, even at the same frequency. Therefore, GPR surveys should be performed on road surfaces without debris on a single, fine day. The reliability of the GPR analysis could be improved by cores and equipment calibration with other non-destructive test surveys.
The purpose of this study was to prepare improved education guideline by grasping parts and items felt difficult to apply instruments by the students of the dental hygiene department in the practice of oral prophylaxis using manikin and analyzing factors influencing the satisfaction at the oral prophylaxis subject. To achieve this purpose, 285 senior students of the dental hygiene department located in the Kwangju. Jeonnam area who took theory and practice courses of oral prophylaxis but only practiced the manikin from the second semester of 1st year were selected as the subjects. The following results were obtained. 1. In the manikin, the most difficult part was maxillary anterior lingual in the use of explorer, sickle scaler, and universal curet, and maxillary right posterior lingual was in the use of gracey curet. In the dentiform, the most difficult item was instrument stroke in the use of explorer, sickle scaler, universal curet and gracey curet. 2. The highest stressor was the lack of knowledge and skill in practice of oral prophylaxis, followed by the lack of confidence, and difference between theory and practice in oral prophylaxis. The overall practice satisfaction was 3.23 at oral prophylaxis. The highest satisfaction was found in patient and operator position(3.51), followed by basic skill(3.34), the way to use hand instrumentation(3.16), and the way to use oral examination instrumentation(3.01). 3. According to school records, satisfaction at oral prophylaxis practice satisfaction was 3.36 of good, 3.24 of fair, and 3.06 of poor, suggesting significant difference(p<0.05). Students who participated just in practice during a school term showed 3.47 of satisfaction. The highest satisfaction was found in a full-time professor as a professor in charge(3.24) and there was significant difference(p<0.05). 4. The highest correlated factor between oral prophylaxis theory and practice satisfaction was curriculum satisfaction. The use of hand instrumentation was found to have the greatest effect on the practice satisfaction at oral prophylaxis, followed by basic skill, the way of basic instrumentation, and position. There was statistically significant difference(p<0.01).
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the quality of life of caretaking family members who have a patient with psychiatric disorders. The results will be served as a basic data of ameliorating the quality of life of caregivers. Methods: 78 caretaking family members who have a patient with schizophrenia and 54 caretaking family members who have a patient with alcohol dependence, a total of 132 persons completed the questionnaire, and analyzed. The Korean version of the SmithKline Beecham Quality of Life Scale and the Family Burden Scale were applied. Results: There was no statistically significant correlation between burden and sex, age, income, and duration of living with patients before onset. The male caregiver showed higher quality of life than that of female. It showed statistically significant correlation between age and factor physical well-being and factor activity. 41% of variance of quality of life of caregivers were explained by the stress response, burden, and overall merits of the field of psychiatry, and the tension had the most explanatory power. Conclusion: The chronic illness may give a burden on caregivers, and that decrease the quality of life of caregivers. The longer duration of illness of patients, the lower quality of life of caregivers on competence factor. Therefore, the authors recommend the therapeutic modality must be offered to the caregivers who may experience the stress and burden.
Coil embolization technique has been used recently to treat cerebral aneurysms. When a giant or a multilobular aneurysm are treated by roils, filling an aneurysm sac completely with coils is difficult and partial blocking of an aneurysm sac is inevitable. Blood flow characteristics, which nay affect the embolization process of an aneurysm sac, are changed by the locations of coils for the Partially blocked aneurysms. Blood flow fields are also influenced by the geometry of a parent vessel. In order to suggest the coil locations effective for aneurysm embolization, the blood flow fields of lateral aneurysm models were analyzed for the different coil locations and parent vessel geometries. Three dimensional pulsatile flow fields are analyzed by numerical methods considering non-Newtonian viscosity characteristics of blood. Flow rate into the aneurysm sac (inflow rate) and wall shear stress, which are suspected as flow dynamic factors influencing aneurysm embolization, are also calculated. Inflow rates were smaller and the low wall shear stress zones were larger in the neck blocked models compared to the dome blocked models. Smaller inflow and larger low wall shear stress zones in the distal neck blocked model imply that the distal neck should be the effective coil locations for aneurysm embolization.

In order to investigate the relation between the phytoplankton and the catch fluctuation of set net fishing grounds located in the coastal waters of Yeosu, phytoplankton observations on the fishing ground were carried out by the training ship of Yeosu, Fisheries University from April to November in 1990, and the data obtained were compared with the catch data from the joint market of yeosu fisheries cooperative society in 1990. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1) The phytoplanktons were more appeared in summer than in spring or autumn and their quantity was much in the shore of Dolsan-do, and little in the offshore waters distributed in the shores of Sori-do and Sejon-do, Thus, the quantity of the planktons could be used for estimating the distribution of watermass. 2) The fishes caught by the set net were arranged in the order of catch amounts as follows: Spanish mackerel > Hair tail > Common mackerel > Sardine > Anchovy > Horse mackerel > Yellow tail. The catches of anchovy and Sardine were high in April to May and Hair tail. Horse mackerel and Common mackerel were caught from June to October. But Spanish mackerel were caught during the whole period of fishing. 3) The catches by set nets showed a correlation with the quantity of phytoplanktons. The planktons appeared most in the inner waters. influenced largely by the inflow of land waters in summer. and the catches were high in summer when the offshore water was distributed least. Therefore, the most important factor influencing the catches were regarded to be the productivity of food organism in inner water into which abundant nutrients were supplied by the inflow of land waters. That is, the fluctuation of catches by set nets seemed to be influenced mainly by the productivity of food organism.
No other change in Kora has offered gredter chalenges and opportunities than the emergence of the Internet and its related Information Technology. In the technology for accessing the ever growing wave of information. The quality of the silver generation is increasingly difficult to achieve because of the complexities of life in today's ICT(Information & Comunication Technology) dependent society, Life is more interesting when one knows what is going on, what opportunities exist, and when alternatives to current practices can be discovered and utilized with ease. The purpose of this study is to identify the determinants of attitude and planned behavior toward using internent for the quality of life. This study employ the intention to use internet, perceived ease of use, perceived usefuiness, self-efficacy, stress factor, generation gap, and income as major research variables, and collected 288 survey responses from senior citizen over 55. The results indicate that the perceived usefuiness and ease of use influence the intention to use internet, and that the self-efficacy, the ease of use and generation gap has some impact on the attitude, but the stree factor and the income level do not appear significant to the attitude. It was also found that the self-efficacy and the income level determine the level of ease of use. In addition, some useful suggestions concerning the continuing education program for silver generations are presented.

This study examined the stress reaction, resilience levels, and the effects of the stress reaction on the resilience among dental hygiene students. From July 11, 2016 to July 29, 2016, questionnaires were collected from 274 dental hygiene students in several areas. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS Statistics ver.21.0. The stress reaction level of dental hygiene students was found to be 2.59 out of 5 points and the resilience level was 4.47 out of 7 points. The stress reaction and resilience showed a significant negative correlation in Fatigue, Tension, Frustration, Anger, Depression, Aggression(p>0.001), and stomatization(p>0.05). In other words, the lower the resilience, the higher the stress reaction. The factors of stress reaction influencing the resilience were depression and somatization, which explained 25.6%(R2=0.256). Therefore, to enhance the resilience of dental hygiene students, it is important to investigation the stress reaction and there should be more concern with students who have higher depression and stomatization. In addition, efforts to control the stress reaction are needed.
