This study was conducted to identify a problem of Industrial Arts$.$Home Economics subjects, and to improve its curriculum contents. In order to have accomplished the above objectives, the experts were gained about ideas and methods about organization of the curriculum contents of Industrial Arts$.$Home Economics subjects. In second questionnaire, based on the curriculum contents of Industriasl Arts$.$Home Economics subjects draw from the above review of literatures, the opinions of the experts were investigated about review of literatures, the opinions of the experts were investigated about the selection of the contents of Home Economics, Industrial Arts, respectively. The selected data in first questionnaire was manipulated by the frequency and percent. The curriculum contents in second questionnaire was selected above the sum total 80 in Home Economics subjects and above the sum total 61 in Industrial Arts subjects. The distinction of curriculum contents selected by the each domain were as follows. (1) The daily life as a consumer and the importance of home management were emphasized in the curriculum contents selected in the domains of consuming and management. (2) The vocational investigation, the course education, and the development of the young generation were emphasized in the curriculum contents selected in the domains of the family living and human development. (3) The basic Knowledge of nutrition and cooking and the contents related to the food choice were emphasized in the curriculum selected in the nutrition and food. (4) The choice and care of clothing a proper personal appearance, and the contents related to the machinery and tools were emphasized in the curriculum contents selected in the clothing and textiles. (5) The economical aspects of housing, the contents of the reasonable housing choics, and the contents for vital skills were emphasized in the housing and instruments.

This study focused on low fertility and population decline which threaten national competitiveness. Therefore, a comprehensive analysis was attempted on the impact of housing characteristics and residential area characteristics of newlyweds on their birth plan. To this end, the hierarchical linear model(HLM) was implemented using '2016 Korea Newlyweds' Housing Survey' data. The main findings of this study are as follows. First, the birth plan of newlyweds is affected not only by housing characteristics, but also residential area characteristics such as the average housing price, average private education expenses and the number of local child centers. Second, the use of housing loans and the housing tenure have an interaction effect with the average housing price and the number of local child centers among the residential area characteristics. In other words, the use of housing loans has a negative effect on the birth plan if the housing price is high in the area, and being renter household has a positive effect on the birth plan if the number of local child centers is high in the area. These findings suggest that governmental effort to raise the birthrate of newlyweds should take into account their housing characteristics as wells as residential area characteristics.
The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the educational program of life safety for low grade elementary school students. The objectives of the life safety education were established, and the contents and instructions of the educational program were organized according to the needs of the 560 children and their mothers. Both experimental and control groups were evaluated before, immediately after and 3 weeks after the education in terms of knowledge about safety, attitudes and behaviors. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Twelve contents for safety education consisted of safety for electronic games, playing facility, mobile exercise machines, elevator/escalators, traffic and prevention for injury, pricking/cutting, collision/fall/slippery, drowning, burning, electric shock, food toxicity and child missing/sexual harassment/kidnapping. 2. The score of knowledge for safety, attitude, and behavior of the experimental group was improved after the post-tests. Thus, the educational effects were demonstrated to be significant in all evaluation sections.
The purpose of this study was to identify the problems in the consumption life of household over the family life cycle so that they would support to select the consumer education subjects and the establish the long-term household plan. For these purposes, a survey was conducted using questionnaire. The data used in this study included 562 homemakers living in Seoul. Statistics used for data analysis were frequency distribution, Mean, Percentile, One-way Anova, Scheffie-test, Multiple Classification Analysis. Major findings were as follows; 1) In the level of the problems in the consumption life of household, housing problem, durable goods problem, healthy-medical problem and child education problem area were in the low level. Leisure problem and properties management problem area were in the high level. 2) The problems in the consumption life of household differed significantly over the family life cycle. 3) When controlling family monthly income and education level of husband was compared with not-controlling them, the influences of family life cycle on the problems in the consumption life were as follows. (1)At housing problem area, the effect of the FLC was higher in controlling them than not-controlling them. (2) At other problems the effects of the FLC was lower or same in controlling them than not-controlling them.
This study identified the rate of income poverty and multidimensional poverty, correlation between income poverty and multidimensional poverty, and adjusted multidimensional poverty rate. We also analyzed the factors that affected the number of poverty dimension and the probability of belonging to the poor or not in 3,159 elderly households including 474 poor households and 2,685 middle class households. First, in poor households, the employment poverty rate was the highest and the housing poverty rate was the lowest. In middle class households, the relation poverty rate was the highest and the employment poverty rate was the lowest. Second, in poor households, correlation between asset poverty and relation poverty had the highest coefficient of .205 and asset poverty and housing poverty had the lowest coefficient of .149. In middle class households, the correlation between income poverty and relation poverty had highest coefficient of -.290 and employment poverty and relation poverty had the lowest coefficient of .038. Third, in poor households, the number of average poverty dimension was 4.30, but the number of average poverty dimensions of middle class households was 2.310. Fourth, the variable affecting the number of poverty dimensions in poor households were gender, age, level of education, marital status; however, the significant variables were gender, education level, marital status, income poverty in the middle class households. The variable that affected the probability of belonging to the poor or not in poor households was age. However, the significant variables were gender, education level, marital status, residence, and income poverty in middle class households.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze service occupation types and to develop training programs for the aged. Methods: This study used descriptive study design. The research process consisted of three stages: first, identified the demand of service manpower for the aged; second, investigated present jobs and education programs in Korea and Japan; and last, developed service jobs and education programs for the aged. Results: Potential users considered "health management" to be the most important area. They thought "providing job" as second most important. According to the result of analyzing Korean policies, there were 9 service occupations in 5domains. So, we derived 10 occupations such as 'daily living manager', 'care manager', 'care worker', 'health manager', 'education specialist', 'leisure manager', 'good manager', 'housing manager', 'financial specialist' and 'retirement consultant' in 5domains as healthcare, leisure, goods, housing and finance. Finally, we developed their tailored training programs. Conclusion: According to this study, there should be various occupations qualified by the government, and training programs should be settled. And healthcare providers must included in developing standardized training programs.

Activity materials in textbook could facilitate students' oriented self-help learning. The purpose of this paper is to find out characteristics of activity materials in the housing area of middle school Technology and Home Economics and teacher's perception of them. The data were collected from 253 middle school teachers who had ever taught the housing unit in any of 6 textbooks. The results showed that the number of activity materials were differed by the characteristics of the materials such as type of materials, feature of non sentence materials, and type of activity, depend on authors as well as textbooks. In general, teachers interests in the materials were higher than those of students even the trends of the interests were the same. Adequacy of activity contents and related knowledge of teachers were higher than adequacy of level. Teachers thought time and extra search beyond class were barrier to full the interests of students. Further research is suggested to find out whether higher interests in the materials are related to the higher activating rate of them.

The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the sustainable housing teaching-learning process plan aimed to achieve the global SDGs through home economics class in middle school that is based on the ADDIE model. The overall objective of the plan was to contribute to cultivating students' sustainable housing values and to creating sustainable lifestyle through everyday practice. The plan consisting of 4 lessons contained various activity and visual resources(4 individual and 4 team activity sheets, 4 reading texts, 1 homework sheet and 1 evaluation sheet, and 7 videos) for students and (4 sets of ppt and 4 reading texts) for teachers. The theme and team activities of each lesson were related to 2~7 targets of 2~3 SDGs, in total 11 targets of 5 SDGs. The plan was implemented to 4 classes of 127 senior students at Y middle school in Cheongju city during the period from the 29th of August to the 18th of September, 2019. The results showed that students were very positive and highly satisfied with not only practical contents but also adequacy of resources and activities of the whole 4-lessons, so that they actively participated in the lessons more than usual and looked forward to learning more about it. They thoroughly enjoyed various team activities such as brain writing, mandal art, visual thinking, making UCC, and planning the sustainable village as well as writing a short reflective journal at the end of each lesson. Students also reported that they highly accomplished the goal of each lesson and the overall objective. It could be concluded that the teaching-learning process plan of 4-lessons could contribute to cultivating students' sustainable housing values and to creating sustainable lifestyle through practicing everyday life. It indicates that home economics is one of the major subjects to contribute to the attainment of global issue of SDGs for OECD education 2030 and to educate the practically acting global citizen.
The purpose of study is to suggest the data on what residential choice elements have to be considered to be important when the apartments are planed in middle size cities. This study analyzed the environmental characteristics of Cheong-Ju city and compared the priority of residential choice elements by using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). The results of analysis are as follows. 1) The rate of housing supply in Cheong-Ju city is low at $80.2\%$ and concentrated on small sized apartments. Furthermore, the educational and traffic facilities are very insufficient. 2) While residential choice in Cheong-Ju is heavily characterized by educational surroundings, it is less affected by economic aspects such as housing prices and the value of investments and accessibility to public transportations, distance to working places. 3) It is affected by residents' general characteristics like as sex, age, life cycle, education level, properties, home ownership, number of room and type of house they want. In conclusion, the middle size cities like Cheong-Ju need the large scale residential plans connected with educational considerations, focused on improvement in quality and outdoor space. In addition, it is recommended to make plans to satisfy the diverse needs of consumers.
This study was conducted to guarantee elderly housing for the increasing number of elderly people over 85. It examined their preference of living with their children and continuously living in their current houses when they reach the age of 85. First, research shows that 69.8% of the elderly wish to live separately from their children in later years. Second, 61.9% of the elderly wish to continue to live in their current houses. Third, the elderly without a spouse, with lower levels of education and with a longer period of time in their current houses, prefer to live with their children. Fourth, the elderly who own a house, who have lived in their current house for a long time, who have a religion and who are satisfied with their houses, wish to continue to live in their current houses in later years. However, most of the houses have safety defects such as a difference of floor-level at the entryway, lack of gas and smoke detectors and slippery bathroom floors. Thus, the elderly need to be supported by providing proper housing renovations for their safety and wellbeing.
