The purpose of this study was investigated the perceptions and expectations of science gifted elementary students in the laboratory-based science learning. For the purpose of this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 science gifted elementary students in J city. The question of the interview is constructed with perception and expectation of science gifted elementary students in divided with 4steps of understanding of lesson object, planning experiment, performing experiment and drawing conclusion in laboratory-based science learning and an attitude for science. The interview is progressed per individual and all the content of the interview is recorded. The result of this research is as follows. The science gifted elementary students have a wish for building an assumption and expectation and planning an experiment with discussion more than following the textbook and teacher present. In the step of the experiment, they wanted general more discussion of their own activities rather than teacher's instruction and they wanted teacher's instruction and they wanted teacher's mediation conflicts within small groups and comments for students' experiment results. The science gifted elementary students wish to open a science lab, which man who likes science can go and come freely and to study with friends who have a same interest to make a theme. And from top to bottom they want to test autonomous and ask to salute like a representative experiment of teacher. And they ask to have a chance to test individually and want to see a movie related to an experiment before doing an experiment. Like this, it presents that the scientifically gifted elementary students want to do an experiment what they can, want to have a class which can plan and can do an experiment by themselves through discussion with the unit more than following explanation of a teacher and a textbook without condition.
The purpose of the study was to develop a program based on PCM(Parallel Curriculum Model) model for the gifted students, and investigate the effectiveness of the program with qualitative research methods. This program was designed to encourage the gifted students to explore mathematics that is closely related to the real world. The results of the study revealed that the program based on the PCM model had positive effect on the gifted students emotionally and cognitively. In conclusion, PCM program is considered an appropriate program for the gifted students of elementary school.
This study analyzed the types of scientific humors made by scientifically-gifted elementary school students and their perceptions of making scientific humor. For this, 77 students from $4^{th}$ to $6^{th}$ graders of gifted science education center in Seoul National University of Education were selected. Scientific humors made by the students were analyzed according to the number and types. Their perceptions of making scientific humor were also analyzed through a questionnaire and group interviews. The analysis of the results revealed that most of scientifically-gifted students made more than 2 scientific humors, and the number of scientific humor for each students varied from 0 to 11. The most types they made were the descriptive type and the pun using pronunciation type, but they made various types without any special type to be biased. And They made more the dialogue type than the narrative type, especially the riddle type. They used scientific knowledge that preceded the knowledge of science curriculum in their grade level over two or more years. The scientific knowledge of chemistry was used more than physics, biology, earth science and combination field. The name utilization type was more than the characteristic utilization type and the principle utilization type. Scientific humors in the everyday situation were more than humors in artificial situation. The students had various positive perceptions in making scientific humor such as increase of scientific knowledge, increase of various thinking abilities, deep understanding of science concept and principle, increase of interest and motivation about science and science learning, and increase on sense of humor. They had also some negative perceptions related to difficulties in the process of making scientific humor, lack of fun, and lack of time in the class.
This study compared the difference of perfectionism, academic stress, learning flow, analyzed the perfectionism impact on academic stress and learning flow between gifted and non-gifted in Elementary school children. The subjects of this study were 100 fifth grade gifted students and 100 ordinary students who showed academic achievement of the same level. According to the results of this study, gifted students showed higher self-oriented perfectionism and socially prescribed perfectionism than general students. Both gifted and general students, the higher socially prescribed perfectionism, the more increased academic stress increased. And the higher self-oriented perfectionism, the more increased learning flow. Gifted and general student's learning flow is high when self-oriented perfectionism is low and academic stress.

The purpose of this study is to investigate gifted students in elementary mathematics how they understand of situations involving multiplication and concepts of multiplication. For this purpose, first, this study analyzed the teacher's guidebooks about introducing the concept of multiplication in elementary school. Second, we analyzed multiplication problems that gifted students posed. Third, we interviewed gifted students to research how they understand the concepts of multiplication. The result of this study can be summarized as follows: First, the concept of multiplication was introduced by repeated addition and times idea in elementary school. Since the 2007 revised curriculum, it was introduced based on times idea. Second, gifted students mainly posed situations of repeated addition. Also many gifted students understand the multiplication as only repeated addition and have poor understanding about times idea and pairs set.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the creative problem solving and scientific attitude through the science-based STEAM program for the elementary gifted students. For the purpose of this study, a teaching plan and worksheet for students based on STEAM was developed and applied. The objects of this study were the fourth grade of both an experimental class (18 students) and a comparative class (20 students) at the gifted class located in Gyeonggi Province. The results of this study were as follows: First, the change in students' science creative problem solving in the experimental group applying science-based STEAM program has statistically meaningful difference (p<.05). Second, the scientific attitude score of the experimental class improved, but it has no meaningful difference statistically. Third, according to the analysis of questionnaire for evaluating the program, experimental class students had a positive recognition in respect of the STEAM program and got higher satisfaction about the lesson. Therefore, science-based STEAM program applied in this study might be useful to improve the creative problem solving, and can be expected the scientific attitude' improving and better be widely applied to gifted education.
In this paper, we suggested that those elementary school students who are gifted in science should be taught basic and fundamental concepts to solve applied problems. We developed a teaching model based on a lesson regarding the path that light takes when passing through a lens on the base of refraction of light. We applied the teaching model to scientifically-gifted elementary school students and analyzed the results. The teaching model is based on the circulation loaming model appropriate for learning such concepts. The problems were designed and applied in order to determine the students' level of concept skills held and also to develop new teaching tools to help their understanding of concepts. As a result, we confirmed that the students, who were unable to describe the path of the light before the course of instruction was given, were able to draw and explain the path of light passing trough lens by using the law of refraction following the instruction.
The purposes of this study were to compare elementary gifted students with general students in respect of their character strengths, emotional intelligence and learning flow and to analyze the relationships. The results obtained in this study were as follows. First, the character strengths, emotional intelligence, and learning flow of the gifted students were higher than those of the general students. Humanity was the highest virtue for both gifted and general students. Gifted students showed a significantly lower mean difference in humility and modesty than that of general students. The gifted students showed a statistically higher mean value in the sub-regions of emotional intelligence and all sub-areas of the learning flow than that of the general students. Second, the strong correlations were found between character strengths and emotional intelligence, between character strengths and learning flow in gifted students. Third, the results showed that the character strengths of gifted students affected their emotional intelligence and learning flow significantly.
The purpose of this study is to examine the trends of science gifted education-related research for the last 5 years using LDA topic modeling. To achieve the purpose of the study, 2,404 keywords of 292 domestic academic papers were analyzed using RISS, KISS, and DBpia. The main results were as follows. First, the number of researches in science gifted education has been decreasing since 2019. In the science gifted education research, the top 10 keywords were 'students', 'program', 'elementary school', 'class', 'creativity', 'gifted education', 'awareness', 'teacher', 'education', and 'activity'. Second, as a result of topic modeling analysis, 10 topics were derived. Research topics mainly conducted in science gifted education for the past five years are 'Affective characteristics of science gifted students', 'Characteristics of science gifted students in middle school', 'Development and application of science gifted education programs', 'Education programs of science gifted high school', 'Cognitive characteristics of science gifted students', 'Policy of science gifted education', 'Science gifted students and creativity', 'Research conducting education by science gifted students', 'Academic and career choice of science gifted students', 'Science concept of science gifted Students'. In the past, the proportion of specific topics was relatively high, but the proportion between topics does not differ significantly as 2019 approaches. Therefore, it can be confirmed that the more recent it comes, the more research is being conducted evenly without being biased toward one subject.
