  • In this paper, we investigated teachers' awareness for the gifted education using technology. We chose teachers who were taking a course(60 hours) in the gifted education at Educational Training Institute in Chonnam National University, and analyzed their awareness for gifted education using technology. We found teachers' awareness as followings. First, teachers think that their ability using technology is contained ability developing and performing program for the gifted education. Second, using technology in the gifted education have an effect on ability of inventively solving problem and extension of thinking power of the gifted. Third, the gifted education using technology is helpful to developing abilities of the gifted, which are intuitional discernment, organizing information, space perception and visualization. Also, that is helpful to developing fluency, flexibility and uniqueness of the gifted in terms of sub-factors of creativity (fluency, flexibility, uniqueness, sophistication).

  • In this paper, we investigated the influence of technology, which gave an impact on students through the process of teaching & learning for the proof of an additive law of sine function in the mathematics education for the gifted. We chose students who were taking a course in enrichment mathematics at Science Education Institute for the Gifted in Mokpo National University, and analyzed their processes of a mathematical inference or conjecture, an algebraic description and a proof by visualization using technology. We found the following facts. That is, the visualization using technology is helpful to the gifted students in understanding principles and concepts of mathematics by intuition. Also, it is helpful to ones verifying various cases and generalizing principles. But, using technology can be a factor that disturbs learning of students who are clumsy with operating technology.

  • There have been tremendous needs and requirements of special education for the gifted to the level of country development and for developing their talents. Even though a lot of research has been done on special education for the gifted supported by the government, lack of educational materials and material development has been a main concern. Some trails using the web with the help of information technology have been made on distance education and resulted good effect on education. No application using a web-based educational method has been made on special education for the gifted so far. This paper describes about the web-based special education for the gifted on mathematics. The discussed topics are development of educational materials, compliments of the current educational materials in mathematics being used at the KIGES(Kyungnam Institute of the Gifted Education in Science), and the continuation of special education for the gifted. Furthermore, a better and more efficient way is suggested for special education for the gifted that has been limited by geographic and locational restrictions.

  • This study touched on the limitations of educational technologies in gifted students' schools depending on the learners' viewpoints. The descriptive approach was used, and the tool was represented in a questionnaire distributed to a sample of 196 gifted secondary school students in Jeddah. Results showed moderate obstacles to educational technologies in gifted students' schools. The general mean of the responses of the study sample was 2.76. based on the findings, the author suggested some recommendations to reduce the difficulties that gifted students face in using educational technologies, as well as provide gifted students with electronic applications in order to their development, and especially the development of school buildings for gifted students with modern devices to help them facilitate the use of technology.

  • As an educational trial for pursuit of educational excellence in the disadvantaged gifted, this study was to explore learning styles and task preferences by student's grade and gender. Furthermore, this study sought to present the practical basis to develop programs for disadvantaged gifted students. Total 153 disadvantage gifted students responded items of the Learning Styles Inventory-III and the Task Preferences Scale, which responses were analyzed by student's grade and gender in using MANOVA. As the results, the 1st grade disadvantaged gifted students preferred Direct instruction, Technology, and Learning games to the higher grade level students. There were significant differences in task preferences by students' grade level. The 4th grade disadvantaged gifted students preferred Creative tasks and Difficult tasks more than other grade level students.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the programming language teaching materials for the gifted of information with using the game. There are many curricula for teaching the information and technology to the gifted of information. There are not differences between these programs and the general IT curricula. The gifted of information has some complains about his curriculum(58/60, 96.67%). So this study developed the alternative programming language teaching materials for the gifted of information. This study concluded the effects of alternative materials for teaching programming language depend on learners' academic achievement about programming language with game activity. This study also looks forward to being able to indicate new direction to develop the teaching materials for the gifted of information.

  • In this paper, we developed teaching learning models using a numeral operation for the mathematical gifted focused on the design of a circle using GSP and investigated effects of this models. This model gave gifted-students to be able to produce creative outputs with mathematical principles and practicality and beauty of mathematics. We found following facts. Firstly, a developed teaching-learning model improves a mathematical gifted student's mathematical creativity as analytic thinking and deductive inference. Secondly, a circular design using GSP helps gifted students to understand the abstract rules because mathematical patterns was represented visually by a circular design. Lastly, a circular design using a numeral operation is helpful to gifted students revealing to creativity and beauty of mathematics.

  • In this paper, the researchers investigated the influence of graphing calculator in learning the concept of linear function for the gifted students. Elementary students who were taking a course in enrichment mathematics at Science Education Institute for the Gifted in Mokpo National University were selected for this study. The researchers analyzed students' processes of mathematical inference and conjecture, and students' algebraic description. We found the facts that the visualization using a graphing calculator and CBL is helpful to the gifted students in understanding concepts of liner function, finding the relationship between variables, analyzing and presupposing of graph. But, using graphing calculator can be a factor that disturbs learning of students who have too much of curiosity on graphing calculator.

  • This study attempted to present a better direction for the development of STEAM education in science gifted and talented education by making a comparative analysis of the trends date and discussing the implications based on that through Korea Education & Research Information Service(KERIS) The results were as follows: First, the results of the analysis in the order of the published year(2011) showed that since one paper appeared in a journal, the number of the papers has continued to increase. Second, the analysis by research objects found the highest number of the studies on elementary school gifted students; followed by on middle school gifted students; on elementary school gifted students and general school students and teachers; and high school gifted students, middle school gifted students and general school students, and elementary, middle school gifted students, respectively. However, research targeted at infants and college students did not exist. Third, the analysis by research subjects found that science gifted education consists of mainly programming/curriculum and creativity. In addition, the higher number of the researches on creativity suggests that science gifted education is closely associated with not only scientific creativity but science education's nature of increasing the interest and understanding of science and technology. Fourth, the analysis by research methods revealed that the number was the highest regarding development and research studies, followed by experimental research, survey research, qualitative research, and literature research.
