  • Let ${\gamma}$ be a hyperbolic closed orbit of a $C^1$ vector field X on a compact boundaryless Riemannian manifold M, and let $C_X({\gamma})$ be the chain component of X which contains ${\gamma}$. We say that $C_X({\gamma})$ is $C^1$ robustly shadowable if there is a $C^1$ neighborhood $\mathcal{U}$ of X such that for any $Y{\in}\mathcal{U}$, $C_Y({\gamma}_Y)$ is shadowable for $Y_t$, where ${\gamma}_Y$ denotes the continuation of ${\gamma}$ with respect to Y. In this paper, we prove that any $C^1$ robustly shadowable chain component $C_X({\gamma})$ does not contain a hyperbolic singularity, and it is hyperbolic if $C_X({\gamma})$ has no non-hyperbolic singularity.

  • In this paper, we propose the fast and efficient detection method using the continuous measurement technique for the gamma-ray signal acquisition. This method is improved than the conventional method for the getting information of the radiation distribution. First, we implement the stereo radiation detection system using gamma-ray sensors and the motion controller. We apply continuous measurement technique to the gamma-ray detector and conduct gamma-ray irradiation test for the comparison of detection techniques. The results show that the continuous measurement technique has the high efficient performance than the conventional method.

  • This study compared the radioprotective effects of high-molecular-weight poly-gamma-glutamate (${\gamma}-PGA$, average molecular mass 3,000 kDa) and a reduced form of glutathione (GSH, a known radioprotector) on calf thymus DNA damage. The radiation-induced DNA damage was measured on the basis of the decreased fluorescence intensity after binding the DNA with ethidium bromide. All the experiments used $^{60}Co$ gamma radiation at 1,252 Gy, representing 50% DNA damage. When increasing the concentration of ${\gamma}-PGA$ from 0.33 to $1.65{\mu}M$, the DNA protection from radiation-induced damage also increased, with a maximum of 87% protection. Meanwhile, the maximal DNA protection when increasing the concentration of GSH was only 70%. Therefore, ${\gamma}-PGA$ exhibited significant radioprotective effects against gamma irradiation.

  • Let $H(U)$ be the space of all analytic functions in the unit disk $U$ and let $K \subset H(U)$. For the operator $A_{\beta,\gamma} : K \longrightarrow H(U)$ defined by $$ A_{\beta,\gamma}(f)(z) = [\frac{z^\gamma}{\beta + \gamma} \int_{0}^{z} f^\beta (t)t^{\gamma-1} dt]^{1/\beta} $$ and $\beta,\gamma \in C$, we determined conditions on g(z), $\beta and \gamma$ such that $$ z[\frac{z}{f(z)]^\beta \prec z[\frac{z}{g(z)]^\beta implies z[\frac{z}{A_{\beta,\gamma}(f)(z)]^\beta \prec z[\frac{z}{A_{\beta,\gamma}(g)(z)]^\beta $$ and we presented some particular cases of our main result.

  • The n-type germanium crystals have been irradiated by $^{60}$ Co gamma-ray with 647 Mrad at room temperature for compensation. The Ge(${\gamma}$) detectors were fabricated from the gamma-ray irradiated germanium single crystals. The detector characteristics of the Ge (${\gamma}$) detectors were comparable to those of thin Ge(Li) detectors and high purity germanium detectors. The thermal stability of the Ge (${\gamma}$) detector showed a feasibility for ambient temperature storage.

  • Exposure to gamma-rays is hazardous for humans and other living beings because of their high penetration through the materials. For this reason, shielding materials (usually lead, copper and stainless steel) are used to protect against gamma rays. This study's objective was to prepare ceramic materials for gamma radiation shielding by using different natural bentonite clays. Gamma-ray attenuation performances of the prepared shielding materials at different thicknesses were investigated and evaluated for different gamma-ray energies from different standard point gamma radiation sources (251Am, 57Co, 137Cs, 60Co, and 88Y). The mass and linear attenuation coefficients of the prepared ceramics vary between 0.238 and 0.443 cm2 g-1 and between 0.479 and 1.06 cm-1, respectively, depending on their thicknesses. Results showed that these materials could be prioritized because of their evidential properties of gamma radiation protection in radiation applications.

  • Gamma irradiation (${\gamma}IR$) is widely used for radiotherapy as a treatment of cancer cells although it has a risk to damage normal cells. Inflammation is regarded as one of side effects of ${\gamma}IR$ while the effect of low dose of ${\gamma}IR$ on inflammation has not been researched well. Here, we investigated the inflammatory responses of low dose of ${\gamma}IR$ on murine spleen cells. It was evaluated if ${\gamma}IR$ affected the mitogen-induced lymphocyte proliferation, the regulation of various inflammatory cytokines (IFN-${\gamma}$, IL-2, IL-17, IL-4, IL-10), and the involvement of Ikaros and MAPK/NF-${\kappa}B$ medicated mechanism. Exposure of $^{137}Cs-{\gamma}IR$ below 2 Gy decreased the lymphocytes proliferative response to mitogens (LPS, ConA) except at the lowest dose, 0.05 Gy. IL-17, IL-2 and IL-4 mRNA increased at 0.5 and 2 Gy, but not altered at 0.05 Gy. IL-10, anti-inflammatory cytokine, increased only at 0.05 Gy. In regard to intracellular signaling, p-JNK, p-p38 and p-$I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$ were not changed, whereas the activation of ERK and Ikaros increased at the lowest dose. These results suggest that exposure of ${\gamma}IR$ less than 0.5 Gy (or below 0.05 Gy) has beneficial effects as a radiation hormesis on immune function.

  • The metal-plates(Aluminium. Copper, Lead) of change the variation thickness have been penetrated by the collimated beam($450mm{\times}4mm{\phi}$) of Gamma-ray from $^{192}Ir$. Then, the scattered $\gamma$-ray dose in variable angle and the directly transmitted $\gamma$-ray dose were measured using the electrometer of ionization chamber. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Obtained the mass attenuation coefficients of $Al;0.0937cm^2g^{-1},\;Cu;0.0937cm^2g^{-1},\;pb;0.244cm^2g^{-1}$. 2. Total intensity of front scattered $\gamma$-ray follow the order of Al>Cu>pb. 3. The scattered $\gamma$-ray intensity with the lager angle of scattering was saturated after increase rapidly, and the scattering angle of the more larger was decreased. 4. The scattered $\gamma$-ray intensity through plates of aluminium or copper was saturated after increase with thicker scatterer, and the intensity was decreased at the more thicker. But the variation of scattered $\gamma$-ray dose in the lead plate made the fewest than Al and Cu. 5. The ratio of the scattered $\gamma$-ray dose and the directly transmitted $\gamma$-ray dose was saturated after increase with the thicker scatterer, and the scatterer of the more thicker was decreased. Degree of total intensity in these ratios was followed the order of Cu>Al>Pb.

  • Poly-${\gamma}$-glutamate (${\gamma}$-PGA) has various applications due to its desirable characteristics in terms of safety and biodegradability. Previous studies have been conducted on ${\gamma}$-PGA hydrogels produced by ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation, but these hydrogels have proved unstable in solutions. This study was conducted to enable the ${\gamma}$-PGA hydrogel to maintain a stable form in solutions. The ${\gamma}$-PGA mixture for UV-irradiation was prepared with a cross-linker (N,N,N-trimethyl-3-[(2-methylacryloyl)amino]propan-1-aminium). Both ${\gamma}$-PGA hydrogels' characteristics, including stability in solutions, were examined. The UV-irradiated ${\gamma}$-PGA hydrogel maintained a stable form during the nine weeks of the study, but the ${\gamma}$-ray irradiated hydrogel dissolved after one week.
