  • We give a fixed point theorem for complete fuzzy metric space which generalizes fuzzy Banach contraction theorems established by V. Gregori and A. Spena [Fuzzy Sets and Systems 125 (2002), 245-252] using notion of altering distance, initiated by Khan et al. [Bull. Austral. Math. Soc. 30 (1984), 1-9] in metric spaces.

  • We shall define the usual fuzzy distance between two fuzzy points in R, the set of all real, numbers, using the usual distance between two points in R. Applying the notion of this usual fuzzy distance, we construct the usual fuzzy topology for R, introduce the notions of lower, stationary and upper cover and obtain the fuzzy Heine-Borel theorem.

  • The aim of this paper is to extend some existing fixed point results for asymptotically regular mappings to fuzzy metric spaces. For this purpose some contractive type conditions with respect to an altering distance function are used. Some new common fixed point results have been derived for such mappings. We provide suitable examples to justify our study.

  • In this paper, we derive some fixed point theorems in fuzzy metric spaces for self mappings satisfying different contractive type conditions. Some of these theorems generalize some results of Wairojjana et al. (Fixed Point Theory and Applications (2015) 2015:69). Several examples in support of the theorems are also presented here.

  • In this paper, we prove some fixed-point theorems in partially ordered fuzzy metric spaces for (𝜙, 𝜓, 𝛽)-Geraghty contraction type mappings which are generalization of mappings with Geraghty contraction type condition. Application of the derived results are shown in proving the existence of unique solution to some boundary value problems.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new system of first-order impulsive fuzzy differential equations. By using Banach fixed point theorem, we obtain some new existence and uniqueness theorems of solutions for this system of first-order impulsive fuzzy differential equations in the metric space of normal fuzzy convex sets with distance given by maximum of the Hausdorff distance between level sets.

  • Imprecision of evaluation or lack of prior information about preference can be an obstacle for decision maker in representing his strict preference. Therefore, fuzziness of preference can take place, and in addition, intransitivity or incomparability of preference becomes the critical difficulty in making complete preorder of alternatives. In order to get better solution and to improve practical usufulness, MCDM should be established as a pseudo-criterion model that include fuzzy preference. In this paper, we suggest a pseudo-criterion model that can make complete preorder of alternatives by metric distance measure.

  • Most hyper-ellipsoidal clustering (HEC) approaches use the Mahalanobis distance as a distance metric. It has been proven that HEC, under this condition, cannot be realized since the cost function of partitional clustering is a constant. We demonstrate that HEC with a modified Gaussian kernel metric can be interpreted as a problem of finding condensed ellipsoidal clusters (with respect to the volumes and densities of the clusters) and propose a practical HEC algorithm that is able to efficiently handle clusters that are ellipsoidal in shape and that are of different size and density. We then try to refine the HEC algorithm by utilizing ellipsoids defined on the kernel feature space to deal with more complex-shaped clusters. The proposed methods lead to a significant improvement in the clustering results over K-means algorithm, fuzzy C-means algorithm, GMM-EM algorithm, and HEC algorithm based on minimum-volume ellipsoids using Mahalanobis distance.

  • Most people have to deal with color and color problems occasionally. There are many strange things about color and color vision that most people do not notice. Even though color seems intuitive and simple it is not. In this paper, we modeled the color using fuzzy set theory. The proposed fuzzy color model is based on the Munsell color space. We defined several fuzzy color terminologies, and proposed a extended center of gravity defuzzification mthod for fuzzy color set. Finally, three distance measures between fuzzy colors were also formulated.
