청소년 자녀가 지각한 부부갈등, 청소년 문제행동 간의 관계에서 아버지 의사소통유형의 매개효과 (The Mediating Effects of Father's Communication Patterns on the Relationship between Marital Conflict and Adolescent Problem Behaviors)

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the structural relationships between adolescent problem behaviors and related variables. The subjects of this study consisted of 250 to second graders from a middle school in S city in the Gyeongbuk province of South Korea. The sample variance-covariance matrix was analyzed using AMOS 20.0, and a maximum likelihood minimization function. The results were as follows : First, marital conflict in terms of the father's open communication model indicated both a direct and indirect effect upon adolescent problem behaviors. Marital conflict in terms of the father's problematic communication model revealed an indirect effect upon adolescent problem behaviors also indicated that these behaviors were also mediated by the father's problems communication. Second, a open communication style on the part of the father indicated a partially mediating effect on the relationship between marital conflict and adolescent problem behaviors. The problematic communication model on the part of the father revealed a very clear mediating effect on the relationship between marital conflict and adolescent problem behaviors.

  • Objective: The purpose of the study was to examine the direct effects of parent-adolescent communication and its indirect effects through adolescent friendship quality on happiness among both middle and high school students. Methods: Participants in this study were 1,126 adolescents (667 middle school students and 459 high school students) in Seoul and Gyoung-gi Do. Data were collected through self-report questionnaires for adolescents, which included measures of parent-adolescent communication, friendship quality and happiness. Data were analyzed by t-tests, correlations, and SEM using SPSS 22.0 and Mplus 6.0. Results: For middle school students, father-adolescent communication had direct and indirect effects on happiness. However, mother-adolescent communication did not directly or indirectly affect adolescent happiness. Specifically, only father-adolescent communication had an significant indirect effect through friendship quality on adolescent happiness. For high school students, father-adolescent communication had direct effects on happiness, while mother-adolescent communication had significant indirect effects on adolescent happiness via friendship quality. Conclusion: This study underscores the importance of parent-adolescent communication and friendship quality in predicting adolescent happiness with differences in direct and indirect paths between middle and high school students. These findings emphasize the role of parent-adolescent communication and friendship quality in developing programs to improve the happiness of adolescents.

부모-자녀간 의사소통과 남녀 청소년의 낙관성이 갈등대처방식에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Parent-Adolescent Communication and Adolescent Optimism on Conflict-Coping Styles)

  • Objective: The main purpose of this study was to examine the direct and indirect effects of parent-adolescent communication (through adolescent optimism) on adolescent conflict-coping styles. Methods: A total of 337 high school students participated in this study. They completed questionnaires about communications with their parents and their own optimism and conflict-coping styles. Data were analyzed using t-tests, correlations, and SEM. Results: Neither father- nor mother-adolescent communication had direct effects on adolescent conflict-coping styles. However, mother-adolescent communication had an indirect effect on conflict-coping styles, mediated by adolescent optimism. Adolescents who had open communication with mothers displayed higher levels of optimism, which led to more positive conflict-coping styles. In addition, multigroup analyses revealed that there were significant gender differences in direct and indirect effects. For boys, mother-adolescent communication directly influenced adolescent conflict-coping styles; however, father-adolescent communication did not directly or indirectly affect adolescent conflict-coping styles. For girls, neither father- nor mother-adolescent communication had direct effects on conflict-coping styles; only optimism had a significant effect on conflict-coping styles. Conclusion: The findings from this study suggest that communication with mothers and fathers have different effects on adolescents' conflict-coping styles. These findings have implications for future research and practice by emphasizing the importance of parent-adolescent communication and optimism in designing conflict-coping programs for adolescents.

청소년이 지각한 부모-자녀간의 의사소통유형이 자녀의 자기효능감에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Perceived Parents-Adolescent Communication Style on Adolescent’s Self-Efficacy)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of perceived parents-adolescent communication style on adoescent’s self-efficacy. The subjexts of this study were 625 students selected at random from first and second grade of high school in Daegu. A questionnaire was used as survey method. Factor analysis, MANOVA and cluster analysis for data analysis and Scheffe test for post-hoc analysis were employed. The man findings were as follows: Firs, there were significant differences in the degree of adolescent’s self-efficacy according to perceive father-adolescent communication style. In case that adolescents perceived their father’s communication style as reasonable, the degree of self-control, self-confidence and attribution were higher than those of other cases such as non-interferential or impulsive communication style. The adolescents who perceived the father’s communication style as reasonable showed higher preference of difficult task than those who perceived it as non-interferential style. The adolescents who perceived father’s communication style as reasonable and non-interferential showed higher attribution than those who perceived it as impulsive style. Second, there were significant differences in the degree of adolescent’s self-efficacy according to perceived mother-adolescent communication style. In case that adolescents perceived their mother’s communication style as reasonable, the degree of self-control was higher than that of other cases such as non-interferential and impulsive communication style. The adolescents who perceived their mother’s communication style as reasonable showed higher self-confidence than those who perceived as impulsive style.

청소년기 자녀가 인지한 아버지와의 의사소통 만족에 관한 연구 - 가족의 응집성과 적응성을 중심으로- (A Study on the Communication Satisfaction with Father Perceived by Adolescents - Focused on the Family Cohesion and Adaptability -)

  • This study is conducted to find out what differences are made on among home-environmental variables, family cohesion, adaption and communication, and to define what variables influence to communication satisfaction of adolescent children. Questionaire survey method was used. The subjects of this study were 578 male and female middle school students living in Kwangiu from July 6, 1992 to July 15, 1992. For the statistical analysis of data, frequency distribution, percentage, average, standard deviation, T-test, F-test, Pearson's correlation and regression analysis were performed. The main findings were as follows : 1) Family cohesion and adaptability variables showed significant difference according to adolescent's sea age, father's education level, income level, occupation and father's religion. 2) Communication showed significant difference according to adolescent's sex, age, father's age, education level, income level, occupation and father's religion. 3) Communication satisfaction showed significant difference about adolescent's age, father's income level. 4) Communication satisfaction showed significant difference by high level in reference to family cohesion and adaptability. 5) Communication satisfaction in reference to communication showed significant difference. 6) The most influential variable on communication satisfaction between fathers and their adolescents children was active response and marked positive influence in order family adaptability, friendly nonverbalism.

부모자녀 의사소통이 고등학생의 학업스트레스와 교우관계에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Parental-adolescent Communication on Academic Stress and Peer Relationship Perceived by High School Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of parent-adolescent communication on academic stress and peer relationship perceived by high school students. Method: A total of 154 students were recruited from a high school in C city. Data were collected by means of self-reported questionnaires from September 1 to 18, 2015 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis with SPSS 20.0. Results: Positive correlations were found between father-adolescent communication and peer relationship(r=.35, p<.001), and between mother-adolescent communication and peer relationship(r=.22, p=.006). Negative correlations were found between father-adolescent communication and academic stress (r=-.23, p=.004), and between mother-adolescent communication and academic stress(r=-.17, p=.039). Conclusion: These results suggest that identifying the effects of father-adolescent communication and parent-adolescent communication programs on academic stress and peer relationship is required.

부모-청소년 자녀간의 의사소통과 가족의 응집성 및 적응성 -전남지역 고등학생을 중심으로- (Parent -Adolescent Communication Variables on Family Cohesion and Adaptability Focusing on The High School Students in Jeonnam)

  • 본 연구는 사회인구학적 변인에 따른 부모-자녀간의 의사소통의 차이와 가족 응집성 및 적응성의 차이, 부모-자녀간의 의사소통 변인에 따른 가족 응집성 및 적응성의 차이를 알아보고, 청소년들에게 가족내에서 바람직한 의사소통과 가족 응집성 및 적응성을 향상시키는데 필요한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 전남지역 고등학생 425명을 대상으로 하여 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사회인구적 변인에 따른 부모-자녀간 의사소통의 차이는 부개방형은 출생순위에 따라, 부문제형은 성별, 출생순위, 가족형태에 따라, 모개방형은 성별에 따라, 모문제형은 성별 출생순위에 따라 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 즉 남학생이 부모와 문제형 의사소통을 많이 하고 있었으며 여학생이 어머니와 개방형 의사소통을 많이 하고 있었다. 또한 장자가 부와 개방형 의사소통을 적게 하고 막내인 경우에 부모와 문제형 의사소통을 적게 하는 것으로 나타났으며 핵가족인 경우에 부와의 문제형 의사소통을 많이 하고 있었다. 둘째, 사회인구학적 변인에 따른 가족 응집성과 적응성을 살펴보면 가족 응집성은 성별과 생활정도에 따라 유의한 차이가 나타나 여학생인 경우, 가정의 생활정도가 높은 경우에 가족 응집성을 높게 지각하고 있었다. 가족 적응성은 성별 출생순위, 생활정도에서 유의한 차이가 나타났는데 여학생인 경우, 독자인 경우, 가정의 생활정도가 높은 경우에 가족 적응성이 더 높은 것으로 지각되었다. 셋째, 가족 응집성은 부와의 개방적 의사소통, 모와의 개방적 의사소통, 생활정도, 성별에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 나타나 부모와 개방적 의사소통이 잘 이루어질수록. 생활정도가 부유할수록, 여학생이 가족 응집성을 높게 지각하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 가족 적응성은 부와의 개방적 의사소통, 모와의 개방적 의사소통, 부와의 문제형 의사소통, 생활정도 성별에 의해 영향을 받는 것으로 나타나 부모와 개방적 의사소통이 잘 이루어질수록 아버지와 역기능적인 의사소통을 하지 않을수록, 생활정도가 부유할수록, 여학생일수록 가족 적응성을 높게 지각하였다.

  • This study examined the effect of father's marital communication, self-esteem, and social support on 7 paternal involvement factors : leisure-life, proffering information, discipline, academic support, tradition-inheritance, material support, and everyday life. Instruments were the Korean Scale of Paternal Involvement (Kim, 2005), Marital Communication Scale (Olson, et al, 1987), Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965), and the Social-Support Scale constructed by the researcher. Subjects were 248 8th grade students and their fathers in Busan. Results showed that marital communication positively influenced degree of father's discipline and tradition-inheritance; father's self-esteem positively influenced degree of father's material support; father's social support positively influenced degree of father' leisure-life, proffering information, academic support, and everyday life of their adolescent children.

부모-자녀 의사소통과 우울이 청소년 자살생각에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Parent-Adolescent Communication and Depression on Suicide Ideation)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of parent-adolescent communication and depression on suicide ideation in the adolescent population. Method: The participants for this study were 391 students from two middle schools, one located in Seoul and one in Kyung-gi do Province. A self-report survey was used for data collection, which was carried out from February 8 to 14, 2006. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 11.0 Program. Results: The average score for father-adolescent communication was 61.70, and for mother-adolescent communication, 64.04. The average score for depression was 16.01, and for suicide ideation, 8.69. There was a statistically significant positive correlation between suicide ideation and depression. There was a statistically significant reverse correlation between suicide ideation and mother-adolescent communication, and between suicide ideation and father-adolescent communication. Mother-adolescent communication and depression account for 46.4% of variance in suicide ideation of adolescents. Conclusion: According to the results, programs designed to improve parent-adolescent communication and decrease depression should be developed and put into practice to decrease the rate of suicide ideation in adolescents in Korea.

  • This study investigates the effects of parent-adolescent communication, emotional intelligence and parentification on the psychological well-being of adolescents. Participants were 712 middle and high school students from Seoul. The collected data were analyzed through a Cronbach's $\alpha$, two-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The results are as follows: 1) While parent-adolescent communication, parentification, and psychological well-being differed by grade, emotional intelligence did not differ by grade. 2) Father-adolescent communication, regulation of emotion, expression of emotion, practice of emotion, recognition of emotion and mother-adolescent communication were significant predictors of the psychological well-being of middle school students. 3) The recognition of emotion, father-adolescent communication, practice of emotion, regulation of emotion, and mother-adolescent communication were significant predictors of the psychological well-being of high school students. 4) Emotional intelligence played a partially mediating role in the relationship between parent-adolescent communication and psychological well-being.
