Research on the Characteristics of Science Subject Matter Knowledge (SMK) and Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) of Primary School Teachers in Classroom Teaching

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate characteristics of science content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge shown in the primary school science classes. Through analysis of classroom teaching, explore the features and differences between primary and secondary school science PCK. Using open-ended interviews with the teachers and group discussions on a regular basis to analyze and compare classes of five primary school teachers, the relationship between CK and PCK. Regardless of the school level the teacher's PCK and professionalism is required with varying focus and emphasis. The features of the primary school teacher's PCK are as follows: Firstly, elementary teach secondary teach content, teachers value pedagogical knowledge (PK) content knowledge (CK). The primary school PCK requires more of understanding of students and teaching methods that to subject areas. PCK be without content knowledge, and the teacher's PCK is subject-specific In addition to the characteristics of PCK in the primary school science teaching, ways to set up professional exchange or collaboration between primary and secondary teachers, and to provide supplementary in-service training focused on content knowledge for primary school teachers.

교과서의 노인에 관한 내용 분석 및 교사용 노인교육 자료 개발 (Content Analysis of Aging in the Textbook & the Development of Instructional Materials about Aging)

  • 본 연구는 현행 초$\cdot$$\cdot$고등학교 교과서와 교사용 지도서에 수록된 노인관련 내용을 분석하고, 학교에서의 노인 교육에 반드시 포함되어야 하는 내용 요소를 추출, 체계화하며, 이를 바탕으로 노인 관련 내용의 교수 학습을 도울 수 있는 교육 자료를 개발하는데 목적이 있다. 연구는 3단계의 과정을 거쳐 수행되었다. 첫째, 외국의 관련 교과서 분석과 국내외의 노인교육프로그램에 대한 문헌 분석. 둘째 내용요소 추출과 체계화를 한 전문가 협의단계, 셋째 개발한 교육자료를 현장에서 실험 적용하고 적용전후의 설문조사를 한 현장 적용 단계로 이루어졌다. 개발된 교수 ·학습자료에 대한 교사와 학생들의 반응은 개발된 노인교육 자료가 노인에 대한 인식과 이해에 기여 할 수 있음을 보여주고 있다.

초등학교 저학년을 위한 수학적 모델링 과제 개발 및 적용 가능성 탐색 (Development and Application of Mathematical Modeling Task for the Lower Grade Elementary School Students)

  • 수학적 모델링은 수학과 현실의 연계성, 수학 문제 해결 등의 측면에서 중요시되면서 다수의 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 수학적 모델링 지도와 관련된 선행 연구는 중고등학생을 대상으로 한 것이 대부분이고 초등학교의 경우에는 그 대상이 고학년에 국한되어 왔다는 점에서 초등학교 저학년을 대상으로 수학적 모델링 수업을 하는 것이 사실상 어렵다는 것에 대한 암묵적인 공감이 있어왔다고 볼 수 있다. 이와 같은 경향과 달리 본 연구는 수학적 모델링 지도가 모든 학령층에 가능하다는 주장에 근거하여 초등학교 저학년을 대상으로 한 수학적 모델링의 적용 가능성을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 모델링 지도를 위한 과제 특성 및 초등학교 저학년 학생들의 인지적 특성을 반영하여 수학적 모델링 과제를 개발하고, 이를 초등학교 2학년 한 학급을 대상으로 적용하였다. 수업 관찰 및 교사 성찰을 통해 파악한 학생 활동 특성 및 과제 적용 시 나타난 지도상의 어려움에 근거하여 초등학교 저학년 대상의 수학적 모델링 수업을 위한 교수학적 시사점을 제시하였다.

초·중등학교 교사의 심폐소생술 수행의도에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Influencing for Intention to Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Elementary and Secondary School Teachers)

  • Purpose: The study aimed to investigate elementary and secondary school teacher's knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy regarding cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and explore which factors affect their intention to perform CPR. Methods: A descriptive correlational study design was utilized. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaire from 147 teachers. Statistical analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, t-test, 𝑥2 test, F-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and logistic regression with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The average of knowledge, attitude and self-efficacy on CPR was 11.11±1.88 out of 15, 42.81±5.22 out of 55, and 86.19±17.74 out of 120 in order. CPR performance intention had significantly positive correlations with knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy on CPR. In logistic regression, factors significantly affecting intention to perform CPR were the total number of training sessions on CPR (OR=12.15, 95% CI: 2.83~52.20), attitude on CPR (OR=9.26, 95% CI: 1.61~53.34), and self-efficacy on CPR (OR=1.72, 95% CI: 1.04~2.84), which accounted for 42.7% of the variance. Conclusion: In order to increase the intention to perform CPR among teachers in elementary and secondary schools, it is necessary for an educational program to be developed to improve positive attitudes and self-efficacy on CPR.

농촌지역 초·중등 교육시설에 대한 마을단위 접근성 평가 (Evaluation of Accessibility to Elementary and Secondary Educational Facilities on Village Level in Rural Areas)

  • Although the educational facility are an important considerations on a social equity standpoint, educational environment in rural areas has been continuously deteriorated by numerous social problems such as decreasing birth rate and increasing of local school closing. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accessibility of educational environment in rural areas on village level. First, we evaluate physical accessibility based on legally defined commuting distance. Second, the implication of village population of potential accessibility is analyzed. Lastly, the facility centrality index of each village is estimated for assessing the relations of educational accessibility. The main results of this study are as follows; (1) The accessibility of most villages in Pyeongchang-gun is vulnerable that 81.10% for elementary school, 73.17% for middle school, and 82.32% for high school, respectively; (2) The average commuting distance per student considering estimated number of students for each educational facilities indicated 2.75km for elementary school, 4.37km for middle school, and 5.79km for high school; (3) the facility centrality index is highly correlated to educational facilities but not to village population.

이산 수학 제7차 교육과정의 구현 방안 연구 (Implementing Discrete Mathematics in the 7th Elementary and Secondary School Mathematics Curriculum of Republic of Korea)

  • Discrete Mathematics is newly introduced into the 7th Elementary and Secondary School Mathematics Curriculum of Republic of Korea. Every high school can choose Discrete Mathematics as an optional course from year 2002, but mostly from year 2003. According to its characteristics and objectives in the curriculum, we should know how to implement Discrete mathematics. But it is hard to predict whether Discrete Mathematics will be successful or not, since many studies have shown the lack of readiness for the course. In this study, we analyze the Discrete Mathematics text book developed recently in 2002. Then we see how Discrete Mathematics can be implemented. First, we suggest how the contents in the Discrete Mathematics text book are related to the mathematical values. This will clarify instruction and learning methods in Discrete Mathematics classrooms. Secondly, rich and various discrete contents should be taught. Students should appreciate the realistic merits of discrete mathematics. Thirdly, evaluation methods and their examples will be presented based upon the contents of she text. The evaluation that distinguishes individual achievement levels is closely related with implementation of Discrete mathematics in schools. Finally, we point out the weakness of Discrete Mathematics contents in the 7th curriculum to prepare ourselves for the 8th curriculum.

초등학교 폭력예방을 위한 집단상담 프로그램의 적용과 그 효과(II) : 피해성향 아동을 대상으로 (Application and Effect of Group Counseling Program for Prevention of Elementary School Violence(II) : for Victimizers)

  • Recently, one of the authors of this study, Huh (2008), developed a group counseling program "With love, With friendship I, II" for bullies and victimizers of elementary school violence. The present study is designed to test program II, for victimizers. The program was administered to eleven school violence victimizers. Participants completed the Anxiety Scale, Self-esteem Test, Pro-sociability Test and Conflict Resolution Strategy Test. Collected data were analyzed using t-Test and ANCOVA. The results showed that anxiety in the experimental group decreased significantly while self-esteem and pro-social behavior increased significantly compared to the control group. Implications of these results were discussed with focus on applicability of the program in the school setting.

학령기 후기 아동의 정신건강과 영향요인 (Factors Influencing Mental Health among Late School age Children)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing mental health among late elementary age children. Methods: The research design was a secondary data analysis. Data were collected from 746 students in grades 5 or 6, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS/PC 18.0 program. Results: The average score of mental health was $3.42{\pm}0.55$. There were significant differences in mental health according to health status, economic status, scholastic performance, relationships with friends, relationships with the teachers, atmosphere of the home, number of siblings and the source of trouble. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed influencing factors of stress, negative reaction under stress, self-esteem, teacher support, and friend support support and explained 41.4% of total variance in late elementary age children's mental health. Conclusion: These results may contribute to a better understanding of mental health in late elementary age children. The results of the present study indicate a need to develop nursing interventions to prevent and manage elementary school-age children's negative reaction under stress.

테크놀로지를 활용하는 과학수업에 대한 초·중등 교사들의 인식조사 (Investigation of elementary and secondary school teachers' perceptions for science class using technology)

  • 오늘날 요구되는 새로운 인재 교육을 위하여 초 중등학교에 다양한 테크놀로지를 수업에 도입하고자 하는 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 현직 초 중등학교 교사 37명을 대상으로 테크놀로지를 도입한 과학수업에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 연구 결과, 대부분의 교사들은 과학 수업에서 테크놀로지를 도입하는 것의 효과를 인식하고 있었으나, 구체적으로 실행할 방법적인 측면에서 고민하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 앞으로 테크놀로지를 활용한 과학 교수법을 개발하고, 이를 효율적으로 활용할 수 있도록 교사들의 수업전문성을 발달시킬 교사 교육 프로그램 개발에 대한 후속연구가 필요하다.
