  • Korea is promoted STEAM education since 2011. Furthermore, in high school education, based on the in-depth elective course's teaching and learning contents of science. The STEAM program can improve students' competence because it encourages to self-directed learning through the vocational project performance. Therefore, in this study, we researched a design education program for the experience of fusion and complex design based on STEAM education concept. We developed an education program to design insulation wall systems using up-cycling concepts to increase energy efficiency. As a result, the characteristics of the fusion education and the theoretical study about the learner-centered education curriculum, the analysis of the high school curriculum, the STEAM elements, The program was revised and supplemented through consultation with STEAM experts. In addition, the developed program was applied to high school students, and each step were analyzed based on the educational method theory. The following results were obtained. First, this study presented a program to cope with the needs of high school intensive education. Second, it provided learning motivation by combining flipped-learning as a way to train STEAM education contents. Third, it is required to develop differentiated and continuous program development and data sharing Fourth, in order to operate and promote the future environment design STEAM school, it is necessary to expand educational programs for high school students in the region through linkage with various universities.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze how couples relationship education (CRE) programs in Korean scholarly journals have been developed since they first appeared in 1994. Method: We selected articles that were published in journals related to human ecology and that included information about how the authors developed CRE programs (premarital education, marriage education). Using coding schemes based on the theoretical frameworks of CRE, we quantitatively coded programs in four specific areas: (a) overall characteristics, (b) program planning, (c) program construction and implementation, and (d) program evaluation. Results: Although CRE programs have increased and evolved since the 1990s, the literature has been limited on testing long-term program efficacy, developing dissemination plans, and applying theories to program design. In terms of program participants and content, most programs had similar themes despite their differences in the target audience. We also found that few programs have been provided for diverse couples. As for evaluation, pre- and post-testing was the most common method of efficacy test. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that family researchers and practitioners develop more elaborate and systematic programs to advance CRE in Korea as a core topic of family life education and to provide evidence-informed practice.

  • This study aims to apply a maker education program in an online class for a unit in elementary science entitled "Life of a Plant." Furthermore, it aims to investigate the effect of the program on the interest of students in science and creative problem-solving. The theme of the proposed maker education program is "Making a fairy tale audio book with the theme: the life cycle of a plant." The program consists of activities intended to produce creative audiobooks using concepts learned from the TMI maker education model stage. The result points to the positive effect of maker education on the interest of elementary school students in science and creative problem-solving. Therefore, applying the maker education program to online classes for elementary science is effective in improving the interest of students. In addition, further research is required to effectively apply the maker education program to online classes in science.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a health education program for child care workers of infants, toddlers and preschoolers to improve their care ability. The program provided child care teachers and children with information on how to take care of their health. Method: This program development was based on a systematic design of instruction by Dick & Carey(1996). The process included a review of literature, setting an instructional goal, getting advice from various experts, designing instruction and instructional medias, designing formative evaluation, revising the program and making a summative evaluations. Result: The products of this program were the 'Teachers Guide Book & CD-ROM.' The guide book included health education programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The infant program included a basic baby care program for teachers. The toddlers and preschoolers program included basic health promotion, dental health, nutrition management, communicable disease prevention, substance abuse prevention and a safety program. Conclusion: These programs provided a systematic content of health education for children and their teachers, and useful data which can be applied to child care centers.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate science gifted education recipients' perception through importance-performance analysis regarding gifted education program, and explore reinforcements and improvements for providing an education program to meet the needs of science gifted. For this study, we developed an questionnaire and conducted a survey of 288 university students who had experience of receiving science gifted education. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS 20.0 in order to analyze difference between importance and performance which recipients perceived, paired t-test was conducted. Moreover, to investigate improvements for education program, Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) was conducted. We deduced the following from the analysis. The performance is in general lower than the importance which recipients perceived regarding experienced education program. There was a differential needs in the type of education program depending on the school level. In other words, they were perceived 'education based on experiences' as effective education program for elementary school students; 'education based on inquiry activities' for middle school students; and 'education based on research activities 'for high school students. But, career education and leadership program was included in domain of urgent improvement regardless to the school level. This study has different signification from previous research in that was analyzed gifted education program considering the splashdown effect.

  • According to a comparison study of international academic achievements, Korean students showed high academic achievements in science and mathematics, whereas their learning motivation appeared relatively low. Therefore, this work developed the robot-based STEM integrated education program reflecting an engineering class model. The title of the program is determined as 'animals' which are included in one section of the fourth grade science curriculum, are friendly to students, and are effective for robot application. Robot-based STEM program is consisted of three areas: robot education, subject-related course learning, and engineering education. The STEM program was reviewed by 14 teachers. The study result presented that regardless of knowledge of robot, most teachers gave positive response to program goal, composition of contents, application of robot.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and test effects of flipped learning on a health education program for allergic rhinitis patients. Methods: The study was a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design, with 38 participants (experimental group: 19, control group: 19). The education program for allergic rhinitis patients with flipped learning developed for this study was conducted in pre-class, in-class, and post-class stages for a total of 12 weeks. For the in-class stage, a TREAT model suitable for patient education program was developed. Data were analyzed with an independent t-test and repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The experimental group showed significant improvement in knowledge (F=15.029, p<.001), self-efficacy (F=6.814, p<.001) and self-care behavior (F=41.761, p<.001). In addition, subjective symptoms (F=61.453, p<.001) and quality of life (F=52.413, p<.001) improved. Conclusion: The results of this study show that flipped learning in an education program is an effective method for those in their twenties persistent moderate-severe allergic rhinitis. Therefore, the education program for allergic rhinitis developed by this study is actively recommended for nurses or health managers at universities to educate subjects in their twenties with allergic rhinitis.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a multicultural education program that includes contact with persons from multiple cultures and to report on the program's effects on intercultural communication competence and nursing professionalism. Methods: A multicultural education program that included contact with persons from multiple cultures was developed, and a quasi-experimental study was performed using a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The experimental group comprised 32 participants, and the control group comprised 26 participants. An online survey was conducted before and immediately after the intervention to collect data. Results: The experimental and control groups' mean scores for intercultural communication competence before the intervention were 3.67 and 3.84, respectively, while their mean scores for nursing professionalism were 3.87 and 3.69, respectively. After the intervention, both the intercultural communication competence score and the nursing professionalism score improved to 4.02 in the experimental group. The study demonstrated significant improvement in intercultural communication competence and nursing professionalism after the multicultural education program was conducted. Conclusion: The study's results demonstrate the need to develop a multicultural education program including contact and communication with persons from multiple cultures, such as international students, women who immigrated for marriage, immigrant workers, and multicultural families.
