대전지역 대학생의 친환경농산물 인식 및 구매행동 (Perception and Purchase Behavior on Environment-friendly Agricultural Products of College Students in Daejeon)

  • The survey was conducted to investigate the perception and purchase behaviors regarding environment-friendly agricultural products (EFAP). 353 questionnaires were collected from college students in Daejeon and analyzed using SPSS 21.0. The students recognized EFAP as foods containing less or no agricultural pesticides and chemical fertilizers. More food major students knew the definition of EFAP compared to non-food major students (p<0.05). The students discriminated EFAP based on certificat on label and obtained information about EFAP from TV/home shopping. More non-food major students purchased EFAP than food major students (p<0.001). The main reason for hesitation with EFAP purchases was the high price. However, students purchased EFAP because of their family's safety. Price reduction is the most important factor to promote the consumption of EFAP. Proper education programs are required so that college students can easily purchase EFAP to promote safe and healthy dietary habits.

Association between depression and eating behavior factors in Korean adults: the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2018

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the association between depression and eating behavior factors in Korean adults. Methods: Study subjects were selected (n = 5,103) from the participants of the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2018 and divided into depression (men, 59; women, 162) and normal groups (men, 2,083; women, 2,799). Subjects with a Patient Health Questionnaire 9 score ≥ 10 (out of 27 points) were defined as having depression. Results: A higher prevalence of depression was observed in both men and women who were unemployed (p < 0.001, p = 0.008), had lower income (both p < 0.001), poorer subjective health (both p < 0.001), and poor food safety (both p < 0.001). The prevalence of depression was higher in women with lower education levels (p = 0.008), who were unmarried (p = 0.010), smokers (p < 0.001), and in a one-person household (p = 0.001). Obese men showed a higher prevalence of depression (p = 0.009). Men who were eating alone or skipping lunch had a high prevalence of depression (p = 0.009), while women who were eating breakfast (p = 0.012), lunch (p = 0.001), and dinner (p = 0.010) alone had a high prevalence of depression. The relationship analysis between men and women according to dietary habits using logistic regression showed that, in women, after variable adjustment, skipping lunch (odds ratio [OR], 2.677; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.090-6.574), meal frequency of 2 times per day (OR, 1.658; 95% CI, 1.084-2.536), and lunch frequency of 3-4 times per week (OR, 3.143; 95% CI, 1.725-5.728) were significantly associated with a higher prevalence of depression. Conclusion: Depression in women was not only affected by more sociodemographic variables but also associated with decreased frequency of lunch and dinner, especially with skipping lunch.

식생활라이프스타일에 따른 소비자의 음료선택행동 - 서울, 경기지역을 중심으로 - (Study on Beverage Select Behavior according to the Food-related Lifestyle focused on Behaviors in Seoul, and Gyeonggi Province)

  • This study aimed to analyze the beverage usage behavior according to the food-related lifestyle in Seoul, Gyeonggi province area. Group 1, named 'health & safety seeking' group, consists of high percentage of women in their 40s, as well as a high percentage of high income and highly educated. Group 2, was group of 'high interest in dietary life', consists of a high percentage of women in their 30s, highly educated, earned 3~5 million won. Group 3, named 'convenience seeking' group, had a high percentage of men and of those in their 20s who earned less than 2 million won. In verifying the difference between food-related lifestyle groups in terms of their behaviors and attitudes towards the usage of beverage specialty shop, group 1 showed significantly high score in the number of visit beverage specialty shops, the intention to spend higher average expenditure per visit per person, importance of selection attributes of beverage specialty shop.

임산부의 약물 인식 및 복약 순응도 조사연구 (Drug Safety Perception and Medication Adherence in Pregnancy)

  • Background: Many factors including drugs, dietary supplements, and food intake can affect the development and organ formation of fetuses. Because of this, subject tends to avoid consuming things like coffee, alcohol, or cigarettes due to the risks they pose during pregnancy. Therefore, analysis of drugs and favorite food consumption is needed and important to ensure safe health management for subject. Purpose: This study was conducted domestically to analyze these factors in South Korea. Method: The survey was conducted from pregnancy-related online communities for six days and the survey results were received via email for analysis. Result: A total of 127 subjects answered the questionnaire via email; the characteristics of subjects are widely varied in their ages, education levels, job statuses, and residences. The questionnaire included the intake of dietary supplements during pregnancy including vitamins and the result showed that the subjects took 2.23 different kinds of supplements on average. In order of highest frequency, 101 subjects took multivitamins; 79 subjects took an iron supplement; 30 subjects took analgesics; 20 subjects took prescribed antipyretic and medication for upper respiratory diseases; 12 subjects took antibiotics; 7 subjects took antiemetics. Their compliances were different in each medication categories. Only 8% of subjects answered that they had asked a pharmacist for medication information during pregnancy. In addition, 78% of subjects answered that they never counseled with anyone about pregnancy related medication use. Conclusion: In conclusion, many subjects took medication including dietary supplements. The role of pharmacists should be actively developed to improve subject care such as education about subject's medication uses and their food consumption behavior.

제주지역 대학생들의 음식점 원산지표시제에 대한 인식 및 중요도 분석 (Perception and importance for country-of-origin labeling at restaurants in college students in Jeju)

  • 본 연구는 제주지역 대학생 500명을 대상으로 식품안전관련 식행동을 조사하고 음식점 원산지표시제에 대한 인식도, 이용실태 및 중요도를 조사 분석함으로써 이를 토대로 음식점 원산지표시제에 대한 대학생들의 인식을 고취시키고, 음식점 원산지표시제도의 개선방안을 모색하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 조사대상자의 식품안전 관련 식행동은 5점 만점에 평균 3.65점으로 나타났고, 성별에 있어서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었으나 남자 3.69점, 여자 3.63점으로 나타나 남자가 높게 나타났다. 음식점 원산지표시제 인지 여부에 있어서는 '알고 있다'의 비율이 67.5%로 나타났고 남자는 69.7%, 여자는 65.9%가 '알고 있다'고 응답하였으며 식품안전 관련 식행동 점수상위집단이 하위집단보다 '알고 있다'의 비율이 유의적으로 높게 나타났다 (p < 0.001). 음식점 원산지표시제 신뢰도에 있어서는 '매우 신뢰'가 4.9%, '신뢰하는 편'이 45.4%로 나타났고 음식점 원산지표시 확인 여부에 있어서는 '확인한다'가 68.0%로 나타났으며, 성별에 있어서는 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없으나 여자 (70.5%)가 남자(64.7%)보다 음식점 원산지표시를 확인하는 비율이 높음을 알 수 있었다. 식품 안전 관련 식행동 점수 상위집단(79.3%)이 하위집단 (57.1%)보다 '확인한다'의 비율이 유의적으로 높게 나타났다 (p < 0.001). 조사대상의 음식점 원산지표시제에 대한 중요도를 분석한 결과, 5점 만점에 대해 평균 4.08점으로 나타났고 성별에 있어서는 통계적으로 유의적이지는 않으나 여자 (4.13)가 남자 (4.01)보다 음식점 원산지표시제에 대해 전체적으로 더 중요하게 생각함을 알 수 있었다. 항목별 중요도는 '음식점의 정직한 원산지표시 (4.27)'가 가장 높았고, 다음으로 '음식점 원산지표시제 위반업체 단속 체계 (4.26) '원산지표시 위반했을 시 처벌 (4.25)', '음식점 원산지표시제위반 업체 신고 시 포상제도 (4.09)', '음식점 원산지표시제에 대한 정부 정책 (4.08)' 순으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과를 종합해 볼 때, 식품 안전 관련 식행동 점수에 있어서 남자 대학생들의 평균점수가 여자 대학생들 보다 높았으나 항목에 따라 다른 양상을 보였고 남자 대학생들이 여자 대학생들보다 음식점 원산지표시제 인지비율은 높았으나 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었으며 음식점에서 원산지표시를 확인하는 비율과 음식점 원산지표시제 중요성 인식에 있어서는 여자 대학생들이 남자 대학생들보다 높게 나타나 성별에 따른 차이를 고려하기 보다는 전반적인 대학생들을 대상으로 보다 체계적인 교육 및 홍보가 실시되어야 할 것으로 사료된다. 식품안전 관련 식행동 점수가 높은 학생들이 음식점 원산지 표시제에 대한 인식 및 이용실태가 높게 나타났고 중요도에 있어서도 모든 항목에 대해 식품안전 관련 식행동 점수가 높은 그룹이 유의적으로 높게 나타나 대학생들을 대상으로 하는 식품안전 관련 식행동에 대한 홍보 및 교육과 더불어 음식점 원산지표시제에 대한 신뢰도를 향상시킬 수 있는 방안이 모색되어야 할 것이다. 또한 조사대상자들이 건강을 위해 음식점 원산지표시를 확인하는 비율이 높게 나타났고 '음식점의 정직한 원산지표시'를 가장 중요하게 생각하는 것으로 나타나 음식점 원산지표시제가 올바르게 정착될 수 있도록 음식점의 적극적인 참여와 정부의 체계적인정책 및 지원이 이루어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.

서울지역 거주자의 건강식품 구매행동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Purchase Behavior for Health Food of Residents in Seoul Area)

  • In a rapidly changing society, the rise in standard of living and level of education has brought about a Qualitative change in consumption, especially food consumption. Accordingly, consumers' interest in and the consumption of health foods has also grown at a rapid pace, expanding the health food market. However. because of the consumer's lack of understanding and knowledge about health foods, the reality is a difficulty in establishing sound consumption. Accordingly, this study was conducted to analyze the consumers' purchase behavior for health food. Through this study, consumers will be able to rationally plan for the use of health food items and further to provide necessary information for planning and executing effective marketing strategies producers and distributors of health foods items. The subjects of this study are the 473 Seoul residents over the age of 20 who have used health food items in the past year. The result of this study showed the use of fatigue rehabilitators, with 93.2% of the respondents saying they have used it. was the highest. with natural products honey, vitamin supplements. restorative foods, mineral supplements, young-gi fellowing in order. Recovery from fatigue. with 3.81, was the top reason the respondents started using health food items, followed by maintenance of health, supplement nutrition. and prevent disease. Family and relatives topped the list of information sources with 3.76. followed by TV and friends. On the other the Internet(2.32) and radio(2.35) were shown to be the lowest information sources. Those surveyed listed quality(4.00), safety(3.99). and nutrition(3.93) as evaluative criteria for health food items, in order of importance. The place of purchase most frequented by consumers in the survey were specialty stores(35.3%) leading the way with department stores and door-to-door sales, pharmacy following behind. On the other hand. purchases from direct mail were the lowest with 1.5% The people who bought health food Items were shown to be parent/siblings(37.2%) , self(33.6%) followed by spouse(23.7%) Purchases made by children were very low with only 4.9%. Finally, the level of satisfaction after using health food products were generally not very high. Consumers seem to be satisfied with the effectiveness(3.37) and safety (3.15) of the products. which is very minute, and they were slightly dissatisfied with the quality of the products.

Consumers' awareness and behavior intention on meat consumption according to climate change

  • Globally, consumers' enormous and increasing appetite for meat is one of the biggest causes of climate change because livestock industry emits more greenhouse gas than transportation. The purpose of this study is to analyze consumer awareness about the impact of meat consumption on sustainability in response to climate change. Based on the theory of planned behavior, the attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, prior knowledge, and risk perception variables were analyzed to evaluate the impact of climate change awareness over consumer behavior on meat consumption. Major findings are as follows: consumers were aware of climate change but has made few changes to their meat consumption. In addition, changes in meat consumption were found to be caused by health safety concerns, such as disease outbreaks. Significant variables related to meat consumption patterns associated to climate change impacts were household income, age, attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and prior knowledge. These results suggest some implications for policy. There is a need for public relations and education to make the public aware of and better understanding of link between climate change and diet. Also, government should make efforts to raise awareness of mitigation of climate change such as comprehensive food labels which are identifying lesser impacts on climate and better dietary guideline instructions which would include coping with climate change.

폐경기 동물 모델을 대상으로 효모 가수분해물의 안전성 평가 연구 (Safety Study of Yeast Hydrolysate on a Postmenopausal Animal Model)

  • 본 연구에서는 갱년기 완화 연구에 앞서 처치 대상자를 폐경 이후로 한정하여 난소절제를 통해 폐경을 유도한 암컷 흰쥐를 대상으로 효모 가수분해물의 안전성 평가를 하였다. 효모 가수분해물을 8주 동안 아급성 처치한 후 관찰한 결과 갱년기 모델 쥐에서도 건강한 쥐와 마찬가지로 이전 연구와 같이 효모 가수분해물은 체중, 식이 섭취를 비롯해 임상적 소견과 혈액 생화학적 분석, 그리고 장기 무게 및 조직 병리학적 분석에서 안전한 것으로 평가되었다. 이에 효모 가수분해물은 폐경기 동물 모델에서 아급성으로 처치 시 독성을 일으키지 않는 것으로 생각된다.

암 생존자의 식생활 안전관리 인식과 역량 유형 (Cancer survivor's dietary safety management awareness and competency type)

  • 본 연구는 암 진단을 받고 치료 중이거나 치료가 완료되어 관리를 하고 있는 대구·경북 지역 30대 이상 암 생존자 233명을 대상으로 식생활 안전관리 인식과 역량, 행동을 평가하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 체중관리의 중요성 인식 요인의 평균점수가 3.83/5.00점으로 가장 높았고, 다음으로 교육 요구 (3.79점), 건강하지 않은 식생활 (역, 3.64점) 순으로 높은 반면, 지식 습득의 어려움 (역, 2.30점) 요인의 평균점수가 가장 낮았고, 만성질환 불안 (2.64점), 지식 인식(2.74점), 균형식 (2.93점) 순으로 낮았다. 둘째, 남성, 60대, 경제적 상태와 영양보충제 섭취가 상대적으로 낮은 암 생존자의 식생활 안전관리 평균점수가 낮았고, 50대와 암 진단 3-5년 된 생존자의 식생활 안전에 관한 강박관념과 건강기능성 추구 요인이 유의적으로 높았다. 셋째, 식생활 안전관리 역량 중 건강관리 및 조리 역량이 높은 집단은 균형식과 건강기능성 추구 요인의 평균점수가 유의적으로 높았으나, 세 역량이 모두 낮은 집단은 이들 요인들이 평균점수가 낮았다. 넷째, 균형식 요인은 건강하지 않은 식생활(역) 요인을 제외한 모든 요인과 유의적인 상관관계를 보였고, 건강관리 역량 요인은 만성질환 불안, 식품안전 불안, 건강하지 않은 식생활(역) 요인을 제외한 요인과 유의적인 상관관계를 보였다. 본 연구는 암 재활 및 재발방지를 위해 암 생존자의 식생활 안전관리 유형과 인식, 및 행동을 살펴보았다. 현재의 암을 치료하고, 미래의 재발과 전이, 만성질환을 예방하여 지속가능한 건강관리를 위한 식생활 관리를 위해 암 생존자들을 대상으로 보다 적극적인 식생활 안전관리 역량 교육이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

여대생의 단맛 인지도에 따른 식행동 및 간식류를 통한 당류 섭취량 평가 (Dietary Behaviors and Total Sugar Intake from Snacks of Female College Students according to Sweet Taste Perception)

  • Increasing sugar intake of population has become a nutritional issue in Korea. Sweet taste perception may be related to behaviors such as eating sweet food including high sugars and total sugar intake. This study aimed to evaluate objective and subjective sweet taste perception and the association among objective sweet taste perception, dietary behaviors related to eating sweet snack food including high sugar, and total sugar intake from the snacks. Participants were 261 healthy female college students (mean age: $21.0{\pm}1.6years$), who were divided into three subgroups based on oral sweet taste evaluation using a sweet taste assessment tool provided by Ministry of Food and Drug Safety: sweet-seeker group (n=139), medium sweet-seeker group (n=54), and unsweet-seeker group (n=68). There was no significant difference in weight and body mass index (BMI) among the three groups; however, the sweet-seeker group had significantly higher sweet taste preference than that of the other groups. Though more people in the sweet-seeker group thought they tended to eat sweet foods than the medium sweet-seeker and unsweet-seeker groups, over half of the sweet-seekers did not think they tended to eat sweet foods. The sweet-seeker group was more likely to eat sweet snacks such as breads, chocolate products, sugar-sweetened milk, and so on than the unsweet-seeker group. Total sugar intake from the selected sweet snacks was 44.4 g for the sweet-seeker group, 34.4 g for the medium sweet-seeker group, and 28.0 g for the unsweet-seeker group with a significant difference. These results indicated the absence of relationship between objective sweet taste perception and the obesity index; however, significant associations were detected among objective sweet taste perception, eating sweet snacks and total sugar intake from the snacks. We also found high disagreement between objective and subjective sweet taste perception of the subjects. The present study provided the novel insight that measuring objective sweet taste perception may be useful for assessing the risk of high sugar consumption and undesirable dietary behaviors.
