The amount of incident solar rays on inclined surfaces with various directions has been widely utilized as important data in installing solar collector, hot water system, and designing solar buildings and house. This is because the performance of the solar energy applied systems is much affected by angle and direction of incident rays. Recognizing those factors mentioned above are of importance, actual experiment has been performed in this research to obtain the angle of inclination with which the maximum incident rays can be absorbed. The results obtained in this research could be used in designing optimal solar thermal systems.

Designing high quality products and processes at a low cost is central technological and economic challenge to the engineer. The combination of engineering concepts and statistical implementations offered by Taguchi\`s off-line design technique has proven t be invaluable. By examining some deficiencies in designs from the Taguchi\`s highly fractional, orthogonal main effect plan based on orthogonal arrays, alternative method is proposed. The maximum resolution or the minimum aberration criterion is commonly used for selecting 2$^{n-m}$ fractional designs. We present new high resolution (low aberration) linear graphs to simplify the complexity of selecting designs with desirable statistical properties. The new linear graphs approach shows a substantial improvement over Taguchi\`s linear graphs and other related graphical methods for planning experiment. The new set of linear graphs will allow the experimenter to maintain the simple approach suggested by Taguchi while obtaining the best statistical properties of the resulting design such as minimum aberration as a by-product without dependency on complicated computational algorithm or additional statistical training.g.
A tool to assist in designing an eco-village was developed using GIS(Geographical Information System) and RS(Remote Sensing) data and images. The difficulties of using GIS by untrained designers are resolved by simplifying the usage and making it a user friendly scenario-based tool, so that the designers with limited knowledge in GIS can use as a design tool. For this task, Da-Mu-Po, a village in Pohang, Gyeongbuk was picked as a site to test the design tool; through planning and designing as an eco friendly village, we tested the flexibility and usability of our newly developed design tool. From this experiment we also introduced test version of stand-alone GIS design tool by constructing program scenario and GUI(Graphic User Interface).
This research is the basical experiment for designing kVp meter using the photo-conductive property of Amorphous Selenium. At first, we charged the surface with A re discharge method, and changed the formed surface potential voltage by x-raying on that surface. As a result the variations of the surface charge increased by the rising kVp, while maintaining a constant exposure time and mA. We become to know that we can apply the photoconductive property of Amorphous Selenium in designing kVp meter.

It reflects well feature of slope that is characteristic of urban river basin of Busan local. In this study, process various hydrological data and basin details data which is collected through basin basis data, hydrological monitoring system(EMS-DEU) and automatic water level equipment(AWS-DEU) for urban flood disaster prevention and use as basin input data of ILLUDAS, SWMM and HEC-HMS in order to examine outflow feature of experiment basin and then use in reservoir design of experiment basin through calibration and verification about HEC-HMS. Inserted design rainfall for 30 years that is design criteria of creek into HEC-HMS and then calculated design floods according to change aspect of the impermeable rate. Capacity of reservoir was determined on the outflow mass curve. Designed detention pond(volume $54,000m^3$) at last outlet upper stream of experiment basin, after designing reservoir. It could be confirmed that the peak flow was reduced resulting from examining outflow aspect. Designing reservoir must decrease outflow of urban areas.
This study mainly intended to investigate the relation between scientific inquiry and several entrance exam results of the gifted in earth science gifted program. The scientific inquiry was tested with their experiment designs. Entrance exams included achievement scores, creativity scores, problem solving, and oral test of high ability students. Student entrance scores were used to judge the level of students' competency in science. Recently students' ability of 'doing science' as measured by their designing experiments has been highly appreciated as a criteria of scientifically gifted students. One of the well known tests was Diet Cola Test developed by Fowler(1990). We used it as a test to figure out students' experiment design ability. We selected 22 gifted students in earth science. We compared their entrance test scores and Diet Cola Test results. Based on the comparison results we proposed several guideline of science education program for high ability students.

The purpose of this study is to explore students' epistemic goals and considerations in designing an experiment task and to investigate how a shift in the students' epistemology affected their argumentation. Four 7th grade students were selected as a focus group. According to the results, when they designed their own experiment, their epistemic goal was 'scientific sense-making' and their epistemic considerations - the perception of the nature of the knowledge product was 'this experiment should explain how something happened', the perception of the justification was 'we need to use our interpretation of the data' and the perception of the audience was 'constructor' - contributed to designing their experiment actively. When students tried to select one argument, their epistemic goal shifted to 'winning a debate', showing 'my experiment is better than the others' with the perception of the audience, 'competitor'. Consequently, students only deprecated the limits of different experiment so that they did not explore the meaning of each experiment design deeply. Eventually, student A's experiment design was selected due to time restrictions. When they elaborated upon their result, their epistemic goal shifted to 'scientific sensemaking', reviewing 'how this experiment design is scientifically valid' through scientific justification - we need justification to make members accept it - acting as 'cooperator'. Consequently, all members engaged in a productive argumentation that led to the development of the group result. This study lays the foundation for future work on understanding students' epistemic goals and considerations to prompt productive argumentation in science classrooms.
A combined PC and TV monitor has been developed in several companies. The characteristics of physical user interface in this monitor are likely to vary from existing monitors. Therefore, two experiments to investigate the physical interface characteristics of this monitor were conducted. The first experiment was to investigate the characteristics of color perception with monitor coating (coating vs. non-coating) and screen brightness (30fL vs. 35fL) in the PC mode. The second experiment was to investigate the characteristics of luminance contrast with monitor coating and image movement (static vs. dynamic) in the TV mode. Twenty-three subjects (male 12, female 11) were participated in this experiment. In the first experiment, average color temperatures were obtained in all experimental conditions. There was a significant difference between coating and non-coating screen at 0.1 level. In the second experiment, average luminance contrasts were obtained in all experimental conditions. There was a significant difference between coating and non-coating screen at 0.05 level. In addition, there was a significant difference between static picture and dynamic picture at 0.1 level.
The objective of the study is to assess temperament of a horse based on general temperament test by a questionnaire survey. Five test criteria were identified: gentleness, patience, aggressiveness, sensitivity, and friendliness, each on a 5-point scale. 114 horses bred at the National Institute of Animal Science (NIAS) in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The horses recorded scores of 3.6~3.9 for gentleness, 3.1~3.6 for patience, 3.4~4.0 for aggressiveness, 2.8~3.2 for sensitivity, and 3.4~3.8 for friendliness, the overall score for sensitivity the lowest. Horses born in 2012 scored lower than the rest in all five areas at a statistically significant level (P<0.05). By gender, the colts scored higher than the fillies in all five areas, but the discrepancy was not statistically significant. Factor analysis yielded only one factor, and the Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ value was 0.980 for standardization of Factor 1, indicating a high reliability of internal consistency. The correlation coefficients among the test criteria ranged between 0.85 and 0.91 (P<0.01). The assessment criteria used in this study are expected to provide a useful basis designing a temperament test horses.
