  • For finite discrete distributions with prescribed moments, there is a well-known upper bound on the index of the support. In this paper, we are interested in the smoothest density with prescribed moments among the class of smooth functions. We define an index of continuous distribution through the support and derive an upper bound on the index of the smoothest density. Some examples are given, some of which achieve the upper bound.

  • In this paper, we consider estimators and a condence interval for a reliability in two independent right truncated Rayleigh distributions and consider the density of a ratio in two independent right truncated Rayleigh distributions. And we obtain the density of an estimator for a changing point in the density of a ratio in two independent right truncated Rayleigh distributions.

  • In this paper, we give the notion of the D-shadowing property, D-inverse shadowing property for dynamical systems. and investigate the density of D-shadowing dynamical systems and the D-inverse shadowing dynamical systems. Moreover we study some relationships between the D-shadowing property and other dynamical properties such as expansivity and topological stability.

  • In this paper we consider the problem of parameter change based on the cusum test proposed by Lee et al. (2003). The cusum test statistic is constructed utilizing the estimator minimizing density-based divergence measures. It is shown that under regularity conditions, the test statistic has the limiting distribution of the sup of standard Brownian bridge. Simulation results demonstrate that the cusum test is robust when there arc outliers.

  • Entropy is the basic concept of information theory. It is well defined for random varibles with known probability density function(pdf). For given data with unknown pdf, entropy should be estimated. Usually, estimation of entropy is based on the approximations. In this paper, we consider a kernel based approximation and compare it to the cumulant approximation method for several distributions. Monte carlo simulation for various sample size is conducted.

  • In this paper, we consider the robust estimation for diffusion processes when the sample is observed discretely. As a robust estimator, we consider the minimizing density power divergence estimator (MDPDE) proposed by Basu et al. (1998). It is shown that the MDPDE for diffusion process is weakly consistent. A simulation study demonstrates the robustness of the MDPDE.

  • This paper deals with calculation of surface charge density on current carrying conductors by FEM. The proposed algorithm is formulated by equation of continutity in conductor region and maxwell's equations outside, respectively, Surface charge density is calculated by electric scalar potential and boundary condition for electrostatic fields.

  • This paper presents the wind characteristics of Typhoon Dujuan as measured at a 50 m guyed mast in Hong Kong. The basic wind speed, wind direction and turbulent intensity are studied at two measurement levels of the structure. The power spectral density of the typhoon is compared with the von Karman prediction, and the coherence between wind speeds at the two measurement levels is found to This paper presents the wind characteristics of Typhoon Dujuan as measured at a 50 m guyed mast in Hong Kong. • This paper shows the possibility of the application of the orientation density function of fibers to the mechanics of fibrous assembly. As an example, the orientation density function of a single yarn was theoretically derived in consideration of the idealized helical yarn. And the theoretical derivation of the tensile modulus of the fibrous assembly was performed in view of the fiber orientation. Application of this orientation density function to the obtained tensile modulus and to the contraction factor of the yarn was also performed so that the theoretical equations of the tensile modulus and the contraction factor of the yarn were obtained. Close agreement was shown between the theoretical and the existing equations. Consequently it was confirmed that the application of the orientation density function to the mechanics of the fibrous assembly is sufficiently possible.

  • In this paper a support vector method is proposed for use when the sample observations are contaminated by a normally distributed measurement error. The performance of deconvolution density estimators based on the support vector method is explored and compared with kernel density estimators by means of a simulation study. An interesting result was that for the estimation of kurtotic density, the support vector deconvolution estimator with a Gaussian kernel showed a better performance than the classical deconvolution kernel estimator.
