Purpose: To investigate the work associated stress and nicotine dependence among law enforcement personnel in Mangalore, India. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted among law enforcement personnel in Mangalore, India. Demographic details, stress factors experienced at work and nicotine dependency were the variables studied. The extent of stress factors experienced at work was assessed using the Effort-Reward Imbalance scale (ERI). Nicotine dependence was measured using the Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND) and the Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence-Smokeless Tobacco (FTND-ST). Logistic regression was used for the statistical analysis. Results: Three hundred and four law enforcement personnel participated in the study, among whom 68 had the presence of one or more habits like tobacco smoking, tobacco chewing and alcohol use. The mean effort score was $15.8{\pm}4.10$ and the mean reward and mean overcommitment scores were $36.4{\pm}7.09$ and $17.8{\pm}5.32$ respectively. Effort/Reward ratio for the total participants was 1.0073 and for those with nicotine habit was 1.0850. Results of our study demonstrated no significant association between domains of ERI scale and presence of habits but work associated stress was associated with the presence of one or more habits. Compared to constables, head constables had 1.12 times higher risk of having a nicotine habit. Conclusions: Our study implies job designation is associated with nicotine habits. However, there was no association between work associated stress and nicotine dependence among law enforcement personnel in Mangalore.

In this paper, we have investigated temperature dependence of dielectric breakdown voltage at epoxy with added nano-filler(MgO), which is used as a filler of epoxy additives for HVDC(high voltage direct current) submarine cable insulating material with high thermal conductivity and restraining tree to improve electrical properties of epoxy resin in high temperature region. In order to find dispersion of the specimen, the cross sectional area of nano-composite material is observed by using the SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) and it is conformed that each specimen is evenly distributed without the cohesion. As a result, it is confirmed that the strength of breakdown of all specimen at 50 [$^{\circ}C$] decreased more than that of the dielectric breakdown strength at room temperature. When temperature increases from 50 [$^{\circ}C$] to 100 [$^{\circ}C$], we have confirmed that breakdown strength of virgin specimen decreases, but specimens with added MgO show constant dielectric breakdown strength.

In this paper, the dependence of silicide properties such as sheet resistance and cross-sectional profile on the dopants for source/drain and gate has been characterized. There was little difference of sheet resistance among the dopants such as As, P, BF$_2$ and B$_{11}$ just a(ter formation of NiSi using RTP (Rapid Thermal Process). However, the silicide properties showed strong dependence on the dopants when thermal treatment was applied after silicidation. BF$_2$ implanted silicon showed the most stable property, while As implanted one showed the worst. The main reason of the excellent property of BF$_2$ sample is believed to be tile retardation of hi diffusion by the flourine. Therefore, retardation of Ni diffusion is highly desirable for high performance Ni-silicide technology.y.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify factors influencing nicotine dependence among male college students intending to quit smoking on the basis of the PRECEDE model. Methods: A cross-sectional survey of smokers, enrolled at the Smoking Cessation Support Center in W city in Korea was conducted between September 2015 and December 2016. Data was analyzed using the SPSS program for descriptive statistics, bivariate analyses, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: The mean score of nicotine dependence was determined to be 2.9. Tobacco craving (β =.34, p<.001), social smoking (β =-.23, p=.004), allowance (β =.22, p=.010) and age of smoking initiation (β =-.20, p=.022) were factors that predicted nicotine dependence of male college students. The final model explained 28.3% of the variation in nicotine dependence (adjusted R2=.28), and was significant (F=7.22, p<.001). Conclusions: We determined that to support smoking cessation, it is necessary to develop anti-smoking programs that consider the social and cultural factors of male college students as well as their personal psychological characteristics.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to understand the determinants of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) according to age groups in vulnerable elderly women. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study with 1,533 elderly women beneficiaries of the visiting health care program in Seoul. The participants were divided into three age groups: the young-old (n=753, 65-74 years), old-old (n=602, 75-84 years), and oldest-old (n=178, 85 years or older) groups. HRQOL was measured using the SF-8 questionnaire. Results: HRQOL was found to be worse in the oldest-old group (p=.007). Factors associated with HRQOL differ by age groups. In the young-old and old-old groups, higher HRQOL showed significant correlation with a higher level of self-rated health (SRH) and a lower level of depression, instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) dependence, and the number of chronic diseases. In addition, higher HRQOL was observed for elderly living alone than for those living with family. In the oldest group, higher HRQOL showed significant correlation with a lower level of depression, activities of daily living (ADL) dependence, and a higher level of SRH. Conclusions: In age specific groups, lower levels of HRQOL were observed for the oldest-old group than for the other age groups. Age group-specific nursing strategies may be required for improving HRQOL levels of vulnerable elderly women.
Purpose: This secondary data analysis study was aimed at identifying the factors related to the patterns of alcohol use (normal alcohol use, hazardous alcohol use, and alcohol dependence) in the Korean adult. Methods: This study analyzed the cross-sectional data from 230,715 Korean adults aged 19 year and older who participated in the 2009 Korean Community Health Survey. Multinomial logistic regression was used to uncover associations between demographic, health related factors and the patterns of alcohol use. Results: The patterns of alcohol use was differentiated from the sociodemographic variables (residential area, gender, age, marital status, educational level, monthly income, and occupation) and with health related factors (smoking status, hours of sleep, body mass index, pain or discomfort, subjective health, stress level, liver disease, cardio/cerebro vascular disease, and depression). Hazardous alcohol use was lower in rural areas and lower among women, but higher among people who smoke, reported severe stress, and/or depression. Similarly, alcohol dependence was lower among women and among those in rural areas, and was more likely associated with those who smoke, have severe stress and depression. Conclusion: A number of factors are associated with patterns of drinking. Smoking, severe stress and depression seems to confound the problems of alcohol use. Additional research is needed to isolate those factors that are the most important influencing the use of alcohol.
Purpose: A diverse range of measurement methods to evaluate the effect of smoking is more powerful than using a single measure. The objectives of this study were to examine the relationships among smoking pack year, self-reported smoking dependence, and urinary cotinine levels, and to investigate the psychological variables in working men. Method: In this cross-sectional study, we surveyed men working in an electronic company who participated in a smoking cessation program. Among 57 men who completed questionnaires, 25 participate in a test for cotinine levels. Results: Smoking pack year was significantly and positively correlated with the FTND-K (Korean version of Fagerstrom test for nicotine dependence) sum scores (r=0.631, p=0.000) and with the levels of urine cotinine (r=0.463, p=0.023). The relationship between FTND-K sum scores and urinary cotinine levels was also significantly positive (r=0.639, p=0.001). Those with higher social support, especially family support, tended to perceive a higher self-efficacy to smoking cessation. Conclusion: These findings suggest that self-reported smoking pack year and nicotine dependence in working men may be a valid way to evaluate the effect of smoking. A supportive family may influence smoking cessation in working men as it increases self-efficacy to avoid smoking.

Objective: This study assessed whether both physical disability and perceived dependence relate to depression or whether perceived dependence in personal care activities, household activities, community mobility and recreational activities is an intermediate step in the relationship between physical disability and depressive symptoms. Methods: Data come from a cross-sectional survey of 209 women, aged 55 or older, with osteoarthritis (OA). Mediation analyses occurred in four step and included logistic regression analyses as outlined by Baron & Kenny. Results: The results from step 1 showed that greater difficulty with each domain of physical disabilities was significantly related to greater perceived dependence. In step 2, greater perceived dependence was significantly associated with greater depressive symptoms in all domains. Step 3 analyses showed that greater physical disabilities in each domain were significantly associated with depression. The final step testing mediation indicated that personal care activities, household activities and community mobility were fully mediated by perceived dependence. That was, once dependence was taken into account, the relationship between physical disabilities and depression was no longer significant. Partial mediation was found for dependence and recreational activity limitations. Conclusion: It is important to take into account the experience of perceived dependence as a mediator in understanding the relationship between disability and depression in the domains of personal care, household, and community mobility. To conclude, these findings point to the importance of taking into account an individual's reaction to their disability rather than just focusing on the severity of disability.

Experiments are performed to determine the dependence of torsional rigidity upon the cross-sectional area for specimens of dense polyurethane foam. Testing equipment was designed and fabricated in the laboratory to satisfy the experimental characteristics. Results show the increase of torsional rigidity compared to the expected value based on the conventional elasticity. And this can be explained that the consideration of the internal motions of constitutive particles predicts the elastic behavior of the material better.
