  • This paper presents an approach to order reduction of linear parameter varying controller for polytopic model. Feasible solutions which satisfy relevant linear matrix inequalities for constructing full-order parameter varying controller evaluated at each polytopic vertices are first found. Next, sufficient conditions are derived for the existence of a right coprime factorization of parameter varying controller. Furthermore, a singular perturbation approximation for time invariant systems is generalized to reduce full-order parameter varying controller via parameter varying right coprime factorization. This generalization is based on solutions of the parameter varying Lyapunov inequalities. The closed loop performance caused by using the reduced order controller is developed. To examine the performance of the reduced-order parameter varying controller, the proposed method is applied to reduce vibration of flexible structures having the transverse-torsional coupled vibration modes.

  • In this paper, we propose a coprime factor model reduction method to get a reduced order controller in $H^{\infty}$ mixed sensitivity problem with frequency weighting functions. for this purpose, the given $H^{\infty}$ mixed sensitivity problem is transformed into robust stabilization problem with coprime factor uncertainty of given plant. This method is to define frequency weighted coprime factors of plant in CSD (chain scattering description) form and reduce the coprime factors using weighted balanced truncation. then a controller is designed to the reduced order coprime factors using J-lossless coprime factorization method. Using this approach, the robust stability condition is derived and good performance is preserved in closed loop system with the given plant and the reduced order controller. Also the order of reduced controller for guaranteeing the robust stability can be determined before designing the reduced controller. The proposed method behaves well in both stable and unstable plant.

  • In this paper, we propose a new design procedure of the Robust Model Matching(RM) using the Normalized Left Coprime Factorization (NLCF) approach. The RMM aims at reducing the sensitivity of a given control system, but standard design procedures are not for robust stability. Therefore we try applying the robust stability condition based on NLCF to RMM procedure. We first formulate the RMM using the robust stability condition of NLCF approach, then we propose the new procedure of the RMM. The point is that the condition includes the measure of sensitivity of the RMM. In the proposed procedure, a cost function is determined through the condition and solved by H$_{\infty}$ contro technique. Finally we show a design example and check the performance..

  • A two-degree-of freedom (TDF) $H_{\infty}$controller for a seeker scan loop is presented for the purpose of improving scanning performances. The perturbed plant model is characterized via the normalized coprime factorization. The TDF $H_{\infty}$controller is designed based on the loop shaping design procedure and model matching approach, and its performances are evaluated and compared with those of a previous work. It is demonstrated that the proposed TDF $H_{\infty}$controller is more effective to the control of the seeker scan loop than the previous controller.oller.

  • The $H_{\infty}$ approach, adopted in this paper, is based on loop shaping using a normalized coprime factor combined with a field-oriented control to control induction motor. We develop two loops. The first one, the inner loop, controls the stator current by $H{\infty}$ controller in order to obtain good performance. The second loop, the outer one, guarantees stability and tracking performance of speed and rotor flux using a proportional integral controller. When the rotor flux cannot be measured, we introduce a flux observer to estimate the rotor flux. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness and the good performance of this control technique.

  • We propose a new design method for a generalized predictive control (GPC) system based on the parametrization of two-degree-of freedom control systems. The objective is to design the GPC system which guarantees the stability of the control system for a perturbed plant. The design procedure of our proposed method consists of three steps. First, we design a basic controller for a nominal plant using the LQG method and parametrize a whole control system. Next, we identify the deviation between the perturbed plant and the nominal one using a closed-loop identification method and design a free parameter of parametrization to stabilize the closed-loop system. Finally, we design a feedforward controller so as to incorporate GPC technique into our controller structure. A numerical example is presented to show the effectiveness of our proposed method.

  • Inspired by fast Jacket transforms, we propose simple factorization and construction algorithms for the M-dimensional discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrices underlying generalized Chinese remainder theorem (CRT) index mappings. Based on successive coprime-order DFT matrices with respect to the CRT with recursive relations, the proposed algorithms are presented with simplicity and clarity on the basis of the yielded sparse matrices. The results indicate that our algorithms compare favorably with the direct-computation approach.

  • In this paper, we propose a new design approach of a two-degrees-of-freedom compensator which assures the robust stability. First of all, we clarify the internal structure of the generalized two-degrees-of-freedom compensator. By adopting this structure, we can make a bridge between the generalized controller and the disturbance observer based controller, Secondly, based on the clarified structure we derive a robust stability condition, and propose a design algorithm of free parameter taking the condition into account. The proposed design algorithm is easy to implement and, as a result, we obtain lower order free parameter then that of the conventional design algorithm.. Thirdly, we show by adopting an appropriate coprime factorization that the clarified structure can also be regarded as an extended version of the conventional PID compensator. Finally, we apply the proposed algorithm to a three-degrees-of freedom direct drive robot, and show some experimental results to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
