  • We consider the problem y"=a(x,y)(y-b), y(0)=0, y'(1)=g(y(${\xi}$), y'(${\xi}$)), (0${\xi}$ fixed in(0,1)) as a model of steady-slate heat conduction in a rod when the heat flux at the end x = 1 is determined by observation of the temperature and heat flux at some interior point ${\xi}$. We establish conditions sufficient for existence, uniqueness.

  • In this paper, we introduce the definitions of sp-convergent sequence in fuzzy metric spaces and fuzzy normed spaces. We investigate relations of convergence, sp-convergence, s-convergence and st-convergence in fuzzy metric spaces and fuzzy normed spaces. We also study sp-convergence, s-convergence and st-convergence using the sub-sequence of convergent sequence in fuzzy metric spaces and fuzzy normed spaces. Stationary fuzzy normed spaces are defined and investigated. We finally define sp-closed sets, s-closed sets and st-closed sets in fuzzy metric spaces and fuzzy normed spaces and investigate relations of them.

  • In this paper we find a geometric condition for the weaker principle of spatial averaging (PSA) for a class of polyhedral domains. Let \ulcorner be a polyhedron in R\ulcorner, n$\leq$3. If all dihedral angles of \ulcorner are submultiples of $\pi$, then there exists a parallelopiped \ulcorner generated by n linearily independent vectors {\ulcorner}\ulcorner in R\ulcorner containing \ulcorner so that solutions of $\Delta$u+λu=0 in \ulcorner with either the boundary condition u=0 or ∂u/∂n=0 are expressed by linear combinations of those of $\Delta$u+λn=0 in \ulcorner with periodic boundary condition. Moreover, if {\ulcorner}\ulcorner satisfies rational condition, we guarantee the weaker PSA for the domain \ulcorner.

  • Every group G has a unique maximal normal locally nilpotent subgroup $\Phi(G)$, called the Hirsh-Plotkin radical of G [9]. If G is a group, we define the upper Hirsh-Plotkin series of G to be the ascending series $1 = R_0 \leq R_1 \leq \ldots$ in which $R_{\alpha+1}/R_\alpha = \{Phi(G/R_\alpha)$ for each ordinal $\alpha and R_\beta = \cup_{\alpha<\beta}R_\alpha$ for each limit ordinal $\beta$. If $R_r = G$ for some natural number r, then G is said to have locally nilpotent length r. $(LN)^r$ denotes the calss of groups of locally nilpotent length at most r.

  • We present some properties characterizing the Mandelbrot set of quadratic rational maps. Any quadratic rational map is conjugate to either $z^2+c$ or ${\lambda}(z+1/z)+b$. For ${\mid}{\lambda}{\mid}=1$, we find the figure of the Mandelbrot set $M_{\lambda}$, the set of parameters b for which the Julia set of ${\lambda}(z+1/z)+b$ is connected. It is seen to be the whole complex plane if ${\lambda}{\neq}1$, but it is intricate fractal if ${\lambda}=1$. This supplements the work already investigated for the case ${\mid}{\lambda}{\mid}>1$.

  • Let $(B, H, p_1)$ be an abstract Wiener space and $F(B)$ the Fresnel class on $(B, H, p_1)$ which consists of functionals F of the form : $$ F(x) = \int_{H} exp{i(h,x)^\sim} df(h), x \in B, $$ where $(\cdot, \cdot)^\sim$ is a stochastic inner product between H and B, and f is in $M(H)$, the space of complex Borel measures on H. We introduce an $L_1$ analytic Fourier-Feynman transforms for functionls in $F(B)$. Furthermore, we introduce a convolution on $F(B)$, and then verify the existence of the $L_1$ analytic Fourier-Feynman transform for the convolution product of two functionals in $F(B)$, and we establish the relationships between the $L_1$ analytic Fourier-Feynman tranform of the convolution product for two functionals in $F(B)$ and the $L_1$ analytic Fourier-Feynman transforms for each functional. Finally, we show that most results in [7] follows from our results in Section 3.

  • Motivated by the problem of steady-state heat conduction in a rod whose heat flux at one end is determined by observation of the temperature and heat flux at some point ${\xi}$ in the interior of the rod, we consider the problem y"(x)=a(x, y(x))y(x) (0$${\lim_{x{\rightarrow}{\infty}}}y(x)=0,\;y^{\prime}(0)=g(y({\xi}),\;y^{\prime}({\xi}))$$ for some fixed ${\xi}{\in}(0,{\infty})$. We establish conditions guaranteeing existence and uniqueness for this problem on the semi-infinite interval [0,${\infty}$).

  • A colored space is a pair (X, r) of a set X and a function r whose domain is $\(^X_2\)$. Let (X, r) be a finite colored space and $Y,\;Z{\subseteq}X$. We shall write $Y{\simeq}_rZ$ if there exists a bijection $f:Y{\rightarrow}Z$ such that r(U) = r(f(U)) for each $U{\in}\({^Y_2}\)$ where $f(U)=\{f(u){\mid}u{\in}U\}$. We denote the numbers of equivalence classes with respect to ${\simeq}_r$ contained in $\(^X_i\)$ by $a_i(r)$. In this paper we prove that $a_2(r){\leq}a_3(r)$ when $5{\leq}{\mid}X{\mid}$, and show what happens when equality holds.

  • Knowledge of variations of renal vessels is of utmost importance in retroperitoneal surgeries and kidney transplant surgeries. We report concurrent variations of the right renal vessels, observed in an adult male cadaver during dissection classes. The right kidney was supplied by three renal arteries, out of which two entered the kidney through the hilum and the other one entered through the lower pole of the kidney. There were five renal veins, emerging independently from the hilum and opening separately through five openings into the inferior vena cava. Among the veins, only one emerged anterior to the renal pelvis and the other four emerged behind it. Four of them terminated into the posterolateral aspect of the inferior vena cava, whereas one terminated into its anterior aspect. Fourth vein from above, received the right testicular vein. The renal hilum was clogged with the presence of seven vessels and renal pelvis.
