Speciation of Phosphorus Dependent upon pH and Oxidation Reduction Potential in Overlying Water and Sediment (pH와 산화환원전위에 따른 상등수-퇴적물에서의 인 형태 변화)

  • In this research, speciation of phosphorus in sediment and overlying water dependent upon pH and ORP(Oxidation Reduction Potential) was studied. Three possible conditions were simulated: open system with circulation, closed system with stratification and closed system with sand capping on the sediment. Phosphorus release rate from sediment was increased for both open system and closed system if pH was less than 6.0. Phosphorus concentration for closed system was increased from 0.9 mg/L to 0.51 mg/L, and stabilized at 0.34 mg/L if anaerobic conditions were maintained in the overlying water. When sand capping was implemented, phosphorus concentrations of overlying water were maintained less than those of closed system.

  • A dieless forming system which consists of hydraulic punch elements and elastomer/fluid pads, was developed for sheet metal forming. 2-D curved surface forming was carried out using open-loop, closed-loop, and repeated forming method. Closed-loop exhibited higher decision than open-loop forming. Repeated forming also showed reduced spring back and possibility of high precision.

Robustness Analysis of Closed-Loop Poles (페루프 극점의 견실성 해석)

  • This paper deals with the robustness of closed-loop poles of a linear time-invariant system with uncertain parameters. A new method is presented to calculate the perturbation of a pole-located region due to parameter uncertainties. A method to calculate allowable bounds on parameter uncertainties is also presented to retain closed-loop poles in a specified region. Based on Lyapunov equations and norm operations, they provide useful measures on the robustness of closed-loop poles. An example is given to illustrate proposed methods.

  • The content-based retrieval using low-level features can hardly provide the retrieval result that corresponds with conceptual demand of user for intelligent retrieval. Video includes not only moving picture data, but also audio or closed-caption data. Knowledge-based video retrieval is able to provide the retrieval result that corresponds with conceptual demand of user because of performing automatic indexing with such a variety data. In this paper, we present the knowledge-based video retrieval system using Korean closed-caption. The closed-caption is indexed by Korean keyword extraction system including the morphological analysis process. As a result, we are able to retrieve the video by using keyword from the indexing database. In the experiment, we have applied the proposed method to news video with closed-caption generated by Korean stenographic system, and have empirically confirmed that the proposed method provides the retrieval result that corresponds with more meaningful conceptual demand of user.

  • This paper represents an adaptive position controller with the disturbance observer for multi-axis servo system. The overall control system consists of three parts : the position controller, the disturbance observer with free parameters and cross-coupled controller which enhances contouring performance by reducing errors. Using two-degrees-of freedom conception, we design the command input response and the closed loop characteristics independently. The servo system can improve the closed loop characteristics without affecting the command input response. The characteristics of the closed loop system is improved by suppressing disturbance torque effectively with the disturbance observer. Moreover, the cross-coupled controller enhances tracking performance. Thus total position control performance is improved. Finally, the performance of the proposed controller shows that it improves the contouring performance along with the reference trajectory in the XY-table.

Data-based Control for Linear Time-invariant Discrete-time Systems

  • This paper proposes a new framework for control system design, called the data-based control approach or data space approach, in which the input and output data of a dynamical system is directly and solely used to analyze or design a control system without the employment of any mathematical models like transfer functions, state space equations, and kernel representations. Since, in this approach, most of the analysis and design processes are carried out in the domain of the data space, we introduce some notions of geometrical objects, e.g., the openloop and closed-loop data spaces, which serve as the system representations in the data space. In addition, we establish a relationship between the open-loop and closed-loop data spaces that the closed-loop data space is contained in the open-loop data space as one of its subspaces. By using this relationship, we can derive the data-based stabilization condition for a linear time-invariant discrete-time system, which leads to a linear matrix inequality with a rank constraint.

Eigenstructure Assignment Considering Probability of Instability with Flight Control Application

  • Eigenstructure assignment provides the advantage of allowing great flexibility in shaping the closed-loop system responses by allowing specification of closed-loop eigenvalues and corresponding eigenvectors. But, the general eigenstructure assignment methodologies cannot guarantee stability robustness to parameter variations of a system. In this paper, we present a novel method that has the capability of exact assignment of an eigenstructure which can consider the probability of instability for LTI (Linear Time-Invariant) systems. The probability of instability of an LTI system is determined by the probability distributions of the closed-loop eigenvalues. The stability region for the system is made probabilistically based upon the Monte Carlo evaluations. The proposed control design method is applied to design a flight control system with probabilistic parameter variations to confirm the usefulness of the method.

  • In industrial multivariable plants, it is often the case that the plant outputs are detected not simultaneously but serially. In this paper, the problem of estimating the state vector of the plant based on the data obtained from such a detecting scheme is considered, and a special type of observer (referred to as a "serial-sampling' type observer) which renews its internal states whenever a new data is obtained is proposed. It is proved that such an observer can be constructed for almost every sampling period if the plant is observable as a continuous-time multivariable system, and that the poles of the closed-loop system using the serial-sampling type observer consist of the poles of the observer and those of the state feedback system. The behaviors of the observer and the closed-loop system are studied by simulation. The results of simulation indicate that a serial-sampling type observer can estimate the state of the plant more accurately than the ordinary type observers and improve the closed-loop performance.ance.

  • In this paper, a sampled-data observer-based decentralized fuzzy control technique is proposed for a class of nonlinear large-scale systems, which can be represented to a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy system. The premise variable is assumed to be measurable for the design of the observer-based fuzzy controller, and the closed-loop system is obtained. Based on an exact discretized model of the closed-loop system, the stability condition is derived for the closed-loop system. Also, the stability condition is converted into the linear matrix inequality (LMI) format. Finally, an example is provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.
