  • A map is a connected topological graph $\Gamma$ cellularly embedded in a surface. For any connected graph $\Gamma$, by introducing the concertion of semi-arc automorphism group Aut$\_$$\frac{1}{2}$/$\Gamma$ and classifying all embedding of $\Gamma$ undo. the action of this group, the numbers r$\^$O/ ($\Gamma$) and r$\^$N/($\Gamma$) of rooted maps on orientable and non-orientable surfaces with underlying graph $\Gamma$ are found. Many closed formulas without sum ∑ for the number of rooted maps on surfaces (orientable or non-orientable) with given underlying graphs, such as, complete graph K$\_$n/, complete bipartite graph K$\_$m, n/ bouquets B$\_$n/, dipole Dp$\_$n/ and generalized dipole (equation omitted) are refound in this paper.

  • Let K be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 and let f be a non-fibered planar quadratic polynomial map of topological degree 2 defined over K. We assume further that the meromorphic extension of f on the projective plane has the unique indeterminacy point. We define the critical pod of f where f sends a critical point to another critical point. By observing the behavior of f at the critical pod, we can determine a good conjugate of f which shows its statue in GIT sense.

  • We introduced a scheme for finding an optimal data association matrix that represents the relationships between the measurements and tracks in multi-target tracking (MIT). We considered the relationships between targets and measurements as Markov Random Field and assumed a priori of the associations as a Gibbs distribution. Based on these assumptions, it was possible to reduce the MAP estimate of the association matrix to the energy minimization problem. After then, we defined an energy function over the measurement space that may incorporate most of the important natural constraints. To find the minimizer of the energy function, we derived a new equation in closed form. By introducing Lagrange multiplier, we derived a compact equation for parameters updating. In this manner, a pair of equations that consist of tracking and parameters updating can track the targets adaptively in a very variable environments. For measurements and targets, this algorithm needs only multiplications for each radar scan. Through the experiments, we analyzed and compared this algorithm with other representative algorithm. The result shows that the proposed method is stable, robust, fast enough for real time computation, as well as more accurate than other method.

  • A stability theory of a damped cantilever column under sub-tangential follower forces is first summarized based on the stability map. It is then demonstrated that internal and external damping can be exactly transformed to Rayleigh damping so that the damping coefficients can be effectively determined using proportional damping. Particularly a parametric study with variation of damping coefficients is performed in association with flutter loads of Beck's column and it is shown that two damping coefficients can be correctly estimated for real systems under the assumption of Rayleigh damping. Finally a frequency equation of a cantilever beam subjected to both a sub-tangentially follower force and two kinds of damping forces is presented in the closed-form and its stability maps are constructed and compared with FE solutions in the practical range of damping coefficients.

  • Let $f:X{\rightarrow}X$ be a continuous map on a compact metric space (X, d) and for an arbitrary $x{\in}X$, $${\mathcal{SC}}_d(x,f):=\{y{\mid}x{\text{ can be strong }}d-{\text{chain to }}y\}$$. We give an example to show that ${\mathcal{SC}}_d(x,f)$ is dependent on the metric d on X but it is a closed and f-invariant set. We prove that if ${\mathcal{SC}}_d(x,f){\supseteq}{\Omega}(f)$ or f has the asymptotic-average shadowing property, then ${\mathcal{SC}}_d(x,f)=X$. Also, we show that if f has the shadowing property, then ${\lim}\;{\sup}_{n{\in}{\mathbb{N}}}\{f^n\}={\mathcal{SC}}_d(f)$ where ${\mathcal{SC}}_d(f)=\{(x,y){\mid}y{\in}{\mathcal{SC}}_d(x,f)\}$. For each $n{\in}{\mathbb{N}}$, we give an example in which ${\mathcal{SCR}}_d(f^n){\neq}{\mathcal{SCR}}_d(f)$. In spite of it, we prove that if $f^{-1}:(X,d){\rightarrow}(X,d)$ is an equicontinuous map, then ${\mathcal{SCR}}_d(f^n)={\mathcal{SCR}}_d(f)$ for all $n{\in}{\mathbb{N}}$.

  • Let E be a real Banach space with property (U,${\lambda}$,m+1,m);${\lambda}{\ge}$0; m${\in}N$, and let C be a nonempty closed convex and bounded subset of E. Suppose T: $C{\leftrightarro}C$ is a strongly accretive map, It is proved that each of the two well known fixed point iteration methods( the Mann and Ishikawa iteration methods.), under suitable conditions , converges strongly to a solution of the equation Tx=f.

  • Let (M, g) be a complete Riemannian manifold and G be a closed (connected) subgroup of the group of isometries of M. Then the union ${\MM}$ of all principal orbits is an open dense subset of M and the quotient map ${\MM} \longrightarrow {\BB} := {\MM}/G$ becomes a Riemannian submersion for the restriction of g to ${\MM}$ which gives the quotient metric on ${\BB}$. Namely, B is a singular (complete) Riemannian space such that $\partialB$ consists of non-principal orbits.

  • Let X be a closed convex subset of a Banach space B and T:X.rarw.X a lipschitzian rotative map, i.e., such that ∥Tx-Ty∥.leq.k∥x-y∥ and ∥T$^{n}$ x-x∥.leq.a∥Tx-x∥ for some real k, a and an integer n>a. We denote by .PHI. (n, a, k, X) the family of all such maps. In [3], [4], K. Goebel and M. Koter obtained results concerning the existence of fixed points of T depending on k, a and n. In the present paper, the main results of [3], [4] are so strengthened that some information concerning the geometric estimations of fixed points are given.

  • Let G denote an upper semicontinuous(usc) decomposition of an (n + k)-manifold M into closed, connected n-manifolds. What can be said about the decomposition space B = M/G\ulcorner What regularity properties are possessed by the decomposition map $p : M \to B \ulcorner$ Certain forms of these questions have been addressed by D. Coram and pp. Duvall [C-D].

  • In this paper, we give sufficient conditions for a map with nonconvex values to have a continuous selection and the selection extension property in LC-metric spaces under the one-point extension property. And we apply it to weakly lower semicontinuous maps and generalize previous results. We also get a continuous selection theorem for almost lower semicontinuous maps with closed sub-admissible values in $\mathbb{R}$-trees.
