Perceptions of multicultural efficacy showed significant differences in thought about education for understanding other country people, the multi media experiences of multicultural families, knowledge about the multiculture, and thought about an increasing number of multicultural families. There were significant correlations among perceptions about the multicultural family, the children in the multicultural family, the impacts of cultural exchange on cultural diversity, and efficacy of the multicultural environment.
The intent of this study is to fully investigate the major issues and challenges related to characteristics of gifted children from multicultural families in Korea. The gifted students of multicultural families are currently categorized as disadvantaged gifted students, but they need to be defined more deeply and separately due to the continuous increase of multicultural families. Most culturally different gifted children have common problem such as integrating into Korean culture, often suffering from emotional problems and their parents' economic disadvantage. Due to these problems a variety of issues arise. First, culturally diverse talented students have problems due to the alienation and the lack of equal opportunity given to gifted children of multicultural families in need. Secondly, another issue is whether or not the selection of these students for a gifted and talented program is administered equally and fairly. Thirdly students and teachers may have difficulty forming relationships. Fourth, there is a dire need to address the issue of a lack of formal education policy. for these students. Fifth, the formulation of a gifted and talented program solely for multicultural students is necessary. Sixth, educating the parents of such students remains a critical challenge. Seventh, the last issue arises from a lack of research regarding the identity of multicultural gifted children in Korea. In this study, we discuss each of these issues in-depth. Additionally the future of Korean Multicultural Gifted selection, training in the field, school direction and it's implications are discussed.

The objective of this study was to examine multicultural family children's adjustment process to kindergarten and differences in their adjustment among time points. For these purpose, we conducted interviews and a questionnaire survey with teachers in charge of 3-5-year-old young children from multicultural families at public and private kindergartens in Gwangju, Jeollanamdo and Daejeon. According to the results of this study, multicultural family children adjusted themselves to kindergarten through four weeks' daily life in the kindergarten. In daily work adjustment, they showed some difficulty in Week 2 but their adjustment improved rapidly in Week 3 and Week 4. Self adjustment and peer adjustment also improved notably in Week 3 and Week 4. In pro-social adjustment, the children showed difficulty in Week 2, improvement in Week 3, and again difficulty in Week 4. These results suggest that, by responding to the teacher's sensitivity and intimacy, young children in multicultural families have a pattern of adjustment similar to that of young children in Korea families.
This study was conducted with the aim of examining the acculturation process of children and parents from multicultural families, which can affect the self-esteem of the children concerned. The participants from each family consisted of the fathers, mothers, and school-age children of 179 households. The results of this study reveal the following: (1) First, the multicultural children scored higher than the average in self-esteem in most areas except school life. Furthermore, the children and parents had a comparatively positive attitude toward acculturation (2) Second, the children's level of self-esteem had significant correlations only with the acculturation of mothers as opposed to fathers. (3) Third, the impacts of acculturation of the children and their parents on the children's self-esteem followed different patterns according to the sub-areas of self-esteem. Specifically, the self-esteem for overall self-value and family relations rose when the multicultural acceptance attitude of mothers was high. However, area of peer relations was affected only by the acculturation of children. The area concerning school life was high when the mother-culture propagation attitude of mothers was low.

It also overarches major issues of multicultural studies of family relations and child development. By wrapping the facts and issues in current discourse and studies, pragmatic policy points were provided and condensed into some suggestions for the policy-making and program implementation.

This study examined the mediating effects of the stress coping behavior and social competence of children from multicultural families to determine the influential relationships between their stress and school adjustment. The analysis results show that stress had overall negative effects on the school adjustment of children from multicultural families and also on their stress coping behavior and social competence. For the indirect effects, both their stress coping behavior and social competence had positive indirect effects on their school adjustment. Stress did not have significant direct effects on their school adjustment. These findings suggest that stress coping behavior and social competence have full mediating effects between their stress and school adjustment. These findings highlight the need for directions of school education and various program interventions to improve the stress coping and social adjustment competence of children from multicultural families, offering practical implications to enhance their school adjustment.
Purpose: There is evidence that parent-child cohesion is a potentially influential factor in children's self-esteem and acculturation. However, no research to date has examined cohesion with parents as a potential pathway between Korean proficiency and self-esteem or acculturation among children from multicultural families. This study was done to address these limitations by examining whether and to what extent cohesion with parents mediated the effect of Korean proficiency on self-esteem and acculturation among children from multicultural families. Methods: Data were collected from a sample of 138 mothers and their children living in Seoul, Daegu, Kyungi province, and Kyungpook province. Multiple regression analysis was used to examine the relationships between the variables of interest. Mediation effects of cohesion with parents were tested by following the procedure recommended by Baron and Kenny (1986). Results: Cohesion with parents partially mediated the relationship between Korean proficiency and self-esteem. For children's acculturation, the effect of Korean proficiency was partially mediated through father-child cohesion. Mother-child cohesion completely mediated the relationship between Korean proficiency and acculturation. Conclusion: These findings suggest that to help children from multicultural families experiencing difficulties with self-esteem or acculturation, it might be useful to develop programs that are aimed at strengthen cohesion with parents.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and verify the effects of multicultural children's psychosocial adaptation, bicultural experience, parental support and parenting attitudes, and school activities on the development of Korean language ability using data from the second stage of the MAPS(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study) using a structural equation model. The subjects of this study were 396 children from foreign families and mid-immigrant families, multicultural children who were enrolled in the fourth grade of elementary school in 2019. As a result of the study, it was found that psychosocial adaptation, bicultural experience, and school activities directly or indirectly significantly affect the ability of multicultural children to speak and understand Korean. In particular, it was found that school activities have a direct effect on the improvement of the Korean language ability of multicultural children, so it was understood that the support of friends and teachers should be treated as very important parts of educational activities in the educational field. These results mean that the most ideal educational environment that affects the development of Korean language skills must be necessarily reflected in the Korean language education policy for multicultural children.
