Analysis of Concept Mapping about the Perception of Teacher's Rights by Childcare Teachers (보육교사의 교사권리 인식에 대한 개념도 분석)

  • Objective: In order to promote the rights of childcare teachers, there is a need to identify problems and demands about the rights of childcare teachers. Therefore, this study sought to examine the perception of childcare teachers' rights in order to identify the concepts of teacher rights. Methods: This study used the concept mapping method to identify the concepts of childcare teachers' teacher rights and interpreted these concepts utilizing the multi-dimension analysis method. Results: As a result of interviews from eight childcare teachers, 37 statements were derived. The result of similarities evaluated by 28 childcare teachers showed that 37 statements about teachers' rights consisted of two dimensions and four clusters (direct-indirect and indoor-outdoor of day-care center). Conclusion/Implications: This study suggested that direct and indirect efforts are needed to enhance the rights of childcare teachers and that change is necessary not only within daycare centers such as the principal but that change is also necessary outside daycare centers such as at government agencies in relation to daycare teachers's rights.

Mediating effect verification of the job satisfaction in relationship between leadership of the head teacher and organizational commitment in the nursery facility (보육시설 주임교사의 리더십과 조직몰입의 관계에서 직무만족의 매개효과 검증)

  • In daycare centers, the head teacher requires the leadership to effectively meet the demands of nursery facilities, since he or she plays a role of middle management in charge of communication with the director and the teachers. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the structural relationship between the head teacher's leadership and job satisfaction of childcare teachers to enhance their organizational commitment and improve service quality and operation of nursery facilities. A survey was conducted of childcare teachers in national and public daycare centers located in Gyunggi Province from February to March 2018. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0 statistical programs. Analysis results found that leadership of the head teacher positively affected job satisfaction and organizational commitment of childcare teachers. Second, the job satisfaction of childcare teachers positively affected organizational commitment. Third, job satisfaction of childcare teachers had a mediating effect in the relationship between the head teacher's leadership and the childcare teachers' organizational commitment. Results of this study suggest that effective leadership of the head teacher should be exercised to enhance the organizational commitment of childcare teachers.

The Relationship between Practice Level and Obstacle Factors for National Childcare Curriculum of Infant Teachers (영아교사의 표준보육과정의 실행 수준과 장애 요인과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between practice level and obstacle factors for national childcare curriculum of infant teachers. The subjects were 204 infant teachers who are working in day care centers in Jeonnam. A questionnaire was made by the researcher on the basis of relevant materials. The data were collected from May 6 to June 13. The data were analyzed by statistical methods such as frequency, descriptive, ANOVA and Pearson-correlation with the SPSS Windows 18.0 program. The results are as follows: First, practice level for national childcare curriculum of infant teachers was relatively high level. There were no significantly different practice level of national childcare curriculum according to teacher's career, teacher's academic degree and teacher's workplace type. Second, obstacle factors for national childcare curriculum of infant teachers was normal level. There were no significantly different obstacle factors of national childcare curriculum according to teacher's career, teacher's academic degree and teacher's workplace type. There were negative correlation between practice level and obstacle factors for national childcare curriculum of infant teacher's.

Children's Understanding on the Roles of Male Childcare Teachers and Children's Gender Role Concepts (유아가 인식하는 남성보육교사의 역할과 유아의 성역할 개념)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze children's perspectives on the role of male childcare teachers and children' s gender role concepts. According to the results, when it comes to how the children perceive the roles of the male childcare teacher, the children mostly saw the male childcare teacher as a person who teaches and in another case, they regarded him as someone who takes care of their daily life and who is willing to play games with them. On the other hand, the male childcare teacher's organizing of an environment, supporting tasks and working on a computer were perceived less by the children. In terms of the gender role concepts, the study confirmed that depending on the role performance of the male childcare teacher, the children in the male childcare teacher's class had better understanding than those children in the female childcare teacher's class. In order to secure the children's right to participate specified in the convention of the rights of the child, the study applied not only the interviews with the children but also their drawings to the analysis, and that was what led the study to an in-depth discussion on the perception of the children.

Effects of Nursing Teacher's Efficacy and Professionalism on Childhood Curriculum Performance (어린이집 보육교사의 효능감, 전문성에 대한 인식이 보육과정 수행에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective: This study examined the effect of early childhood teachers' perceptions of teacher efficacy and professionalism, which are personal traits, when administering the National Childcare Curriculum. Methods: Using snowball sampling, data were collected from 266 childcare center teachers in the nation and were analyzed using one-way analyses of variance and multiple regression using SPSS 14.0. Results and Conclusion: The findings are as the following: First, teacher efficacy was not significantly different among teachers by age, teaching experience, education, and childcare center type. Second, teacher efficacy was significantly related to the perception of their professionalism. Lastly, teachers' perceptions of teacher efficacy and professionalism explained significantly the variance in teachers' performance when administering the National Childcare Curriculum.

The Verification of Mediating Effects of Childcare Teachers' Job Satisfaction on the Relationship between Their Intention to Change Jobs and the Directors' Emotional Leadership (어린이집 원장의 감성리더십과 보육교사의 이직의도와의 관계에서 직무만족도의 매개효과 검증)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate whether childcare teachers' job satisfaction plays a mediating role between their intention to change jobs and directors' emotional leadership. The participants of this study were 282 childcare teachers in Seoul. The instruments for this study were Director's Emotional Leadership Scale (2 factors with 18 items), Childcare Teacher's Job Satisfaction Scale (K-CTJSS, 6 factors with 40 items), and Childcare Teacher's Intention to Change Jobs Scale (1 factor with 7 items). These instruments were verified by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ as a reliability and factor analysis as a validity. The data were analysed by Pearson's productive correlation, stepwise multiple regression and path analysis by the SPSS ver. 20.0 and AMOS ver. 20.0. The results were as follows: First, there were significant negative correlations between directors' emotional leadership and childcare teachers' intention to change jobs, and between childcare teachers' job satisfaction and their intention to change jobs, whereas there were significant positive correlations between directors' emotional leadership and childcare teachers' job satisfaction. Second, the directors' emotional leadership was explained by 22% and the childcare teachers' job satisfaction was explained by 9% of their intention to change jobs. Last, the childcare teachers' job satisfaction mediated between the directors' emotional leadership and childcare teachers' intention to change jobs.

Teacher-Teacher Conflicts in Childcare Centers : Causes and Process of Resolution (보육교사가 인식하는 동료교사와의 갈등 원인 및 대응에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines teacher-teacher conflicts in childcare centers, specifically the causes of conflicts and the process of resolution through in-depth interviews in order to provide suggestions for positive conflict resolution. The subjects of the interviews were five working childcare center teachers, and each subject was interviewed three to four times between September 7th and October 4th in 2011. The result of the interview indicates that childcare center teachers perceive the following to be causes of the conflict: hierarchical relationship among teachers; lack of social skills; differences in personal values and educational philosophy; and uncooperative behaviors of teachers. Moreover, each teacher's eagerness to improve relationships and capacity to make appropriate judgment had positive and negative effects on the relationship with colleagues. In sum, childcare center teachers experienced various conflicts between fellow teachers and recognized the importance of sustaining positive relationships through conflicts as well as through the process of conflict resolution.

The Effects of Teacher's Sense of Efficacy on Happiness from Childcare Teacher : Interactional Medium Effect and Regulating Result of Job Stress between Teacher and Children (교사효능감이 보육교사의 행복감에 미치는 영향 : 교사-유아 상호작용의 매개효과 및 직무스트레스의 조절효과)

  • This research is analyzed the effect of teacher's sense of efficacy from childcare teacher on happiness. The aim is to verifying the interactional medium effect and regulating the result of job stress regulating result between teacher and children. Therefore, the 7th of survey data from Panel Study on Korean Children was referenced in this paper. The respondents of this data are 348 children who just 5 years old and those teachers in. The final results were verified by adopting hierarchical analysis. Likewise, the results also showed the medium effect by the sobel test. Based on the results, it was shown that firstly, the teacher's sense of efficacy from childcare teacher has a positive impact on happiness. Secondly, there is a medium effect creating by interacted between teacher and children. Thirdly, the influence between happiness and the teacher's sense of efficacy lead to regulating the result of job stress. Hence, for increasing the happiness of childcare teacher, it is necessary to seek a program with practicality.

A Study on Childcare Teacher's Career Happiness according to Personal and Organizational Variables (어린이집 교사의 개인변인과 기관변인에 따른 직업행복감 연구)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the condition of career happiness according to personal and organizational variables of childcare teachers. Methods: For this purpose, a total of 1,035 teachers were surveyed. The validity of the career happiness survey tool was examined through previous research, expert review, and factor analysis. Results: The results of the study are as follows. The individual variables influencing career happiness of childcare teachers were mainly age, and there was a difference in the career happiness of teachers over 40 years old and teachers under 29 years old. Second, the teachers at home daycare centers showed a high level of interpersonal relationships and working hours. The teachers at workplace daycare centers have a good balance between work and life, and teachers at corporate group daycare centers have a high sense of happiness about income. The childcare teacher's career happiness was generally higher than infant teachers, and the support of the assistant teacher had an effect on the career Happiness of the teachers. Conclusion/Implications: The results suggest that separate teacher support is needed to increase the career happiness of teachers according to their age and institutional variables.

Moderating Effects of the Childcare Teacher's Ego-resilience on Relationship between Their Job Satisfaction and Burnout (보육교사의 직무만족도와 소진과의 관계에 대한 자아탄력성의 중재효과)

  • This study was to investigate the moderating effects of the childcare teacher‘s egoresilience on the relationship between their job satisfaction and burnout. The participants were 336 childcare teachers from Chungnam-do and Daejeon Metropolitan City. The research instruments were the Job Satisfaction Scale modified from Bently and Remple 1970), the Ego-resilience Scale from Park(1996) with CPI and CAQ correction, and Maslach Burnout Inventory from Maslash and Jackson(1981). SPSS PC program(17.0) was used for productive correlation, stepwise multiple regression and reliability by Cronbach's as data analysis. The results were as follows. Firstly, the childcare teacher’s job satisfaction and ego-resilience level were above average (M=3.37, 3.58 each), while their burnout level was below average(M=2.57). Secondly, there was a negative correlation between their job satisfaction and burnout(r=-.51), while a positive correlation was between their job satisfaction and ego-resilience(r=.34). Thirdly, the burnout and ego-resilience against job satisfaction explained 28.1%. The optimistic attitude of the childcare teacher‘s ego- resilience was shown to moderate the effects on the relationship between their burnout and job satisfaction.
