어머니의 정서적 가용성이 유아의 사회적 기술 및 문제행동에 미치는 영향: 유아 의도적 통제의 매개효과를 중심으로 (The Effects of Maternal Emotional Availability on Preschooler's Social Skills and Problem Behaviors: The Mediating Effects of Preschooler's Effortful Control)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the mediating effects of preschooler's effortful control on the relationship between maternal emotional availability and preschooler's social skills and problem behaviors. One hundred-thirty six 5-year-old preschoolers and their mothers participated in this study. Instruments for this study were the Emotional Availability Scale for maternal emotional availability, the Delay task, and the Child Behavior Questionnaire for preschooler's effortful control, and the Social Skill Rating Scale, K-CBCL 1.5-5 and K-TRF for preschooler's social skills and problem behaviors. The resulting data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, partial correlation, and structural equation modeling analysis. As predicted, the preschooler's effortful control mediated the effects of maternal emotional availability on preschooler's social skills and problem behaviors. In conclusion, the preschooler's effortful control mediates the effects of emotion related socialization behavior on the preschooler's socio-emotional adjustment.

  • In this study of the influence of marital conflict and of children's temperament and emotion regulation on problem behavior, 194 mothers of 3- to 5-year-old children responded to the O'Leary- Poter Scale(1980), the Emotionality, Activity and Shyness scale(Buss & Plomin, 1984) and the Emotion Regulation Checklist(Shields & Cicchetti, 1997); teachers rated children's behavior on the Problem Behavior Questionnaire(Behar & Stringfield, 1974). Data were analyzed by independent t-tests, correlations, and multiple regressions. Results demonstrated that shyness, activity, and emotion regulation had direct effects on hostile-aggressive behaviors. Shy temperament had a direct effect on fearful-anxious behavior. Both marital conflict and temperament influenced hostile-aggressive behaviors indirectly through emotion regulation, implying a crucial role of emotion regulation in preschoolers' social development.

가족의 건강성과 양육효능감 및 유아의 사회적 행동과의 관계 (The Relationships between Family Strengths, Mothers' Self-Efficacy and Children's Social Behavior)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between the family strengths, mothers' self-efficacy, and their young children's teaming-related social skills and behavior problems. The subjects were the 217 children aged 4 to 6 years and their mothers at private child care centers in Seoul. The Family Strengths Scale and the Mothers' Self-Efficacy questionnaire were administered to the mothers. The teachers rated the learning-related social skills and problem behaviors of each child whose mother returned a set of Questionnaires. Analysis of variance revealed statistically significant differences in the family strengths according to the education level of the mothers. The mean the family strength score was higher for working mothers than for non-working mothers. The results of the test were statistically significant differences in the scores on the learning-related social skills and problem behaviors between boys and girls. The family strengths were positively correlated with the mothers' self-efficacy, and the learning-related social skills of the young children, while they were negatively correlated with problem behaviors.

청소년기 내면화 문제 행동의 발달궤적 양상과 유형화 예측 변인 (Predictors of the Developmental Trajectories of Internalizing Problem Behaviors in Adolescents)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the developmental trajectories of adolescents' internalizing problem behaviors. The data came from 3,188 middle school students through their participation in the Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS). Adolescents with a high level of internalizing problem behaviors in the first year showed a rapid decline in these behaviors over time, whereas for adolescents with a low level of these behaviors in the first year the decline was slow. The predictors of the developmental trajectories were related to individual variables, such as gender, self-esteem, self-control, stress, self-stigmatization, and academic achievement. The developmental trajectories of adolescents' internalizing problem behaviors were classified into four groups. The predictors of the patterns of developmental trajectories in adolescents' internalizing problem behaviors appeared to be related to individual variables.

입양모의 결혼만족도와 우울이 양육역량을 매개로 입양아동의 문제행동에 미치는 영향 (The Mediating Effect of Parenting Competency on the Relationship between Marital Satisfaction and Depression of Adoptive Mother and Problem Behavior of Adopted Child)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of marital satisfaction and depression of adoptive mother on the problem behaviors of adopted children and the mediating effects of parenting competency between them. Contextual variables such as family background and adoption-related characteristics were also included as control variables. The results of multiple regression analysis showed marital satisfaction had significant influence on the problem behavior of adopted child through flexibility of parenting competency, while depression was not significantly related to parenting competency of adoptive mother. Yet, maternal depression had direct influence on the problem behavior of adopted child. Based on the limitations of the study, suggestions for further study were made.

청소년의 문제행동에 영향을 미치는 관련요인에 관한 연구: 서울지역의 중학생을 중심으로 (Influencing Factors on Problem Behaviors among Adolescents : Focused on Middle School Students in Seoul)

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the factors influencing problem behaviors among adolescents. Method: The subjects for this study were 596 students in middle school in Seoul. The data was collected during the period from May to November; 2001 by use of questionnaires. The instruments used were the Child Problem Behavior list by Hong (1986), the Body Cathexis Scale by Secord and Jourard(l953), and the Beck Depression Inventory by Beck(l978). The data was analyzed by using the SPSS- Win program. Result: Problem behaviors showed a significant negative correlation, with body image (r=-.310. p=.000) and positive correlation with depression (r=.674, p=.000). There were significant differences in the problem behavior scores of subjects according to sex, family status, economic status, and school scores. Female students were found to have a high degree of internalized problem behaviors. In addition, depression, body image, and sex were significant predictors to explain problem behaviors(47.3%). Depression, sex, grade, and school scores were significant predictors to explain externalized problem behaviors(21.9%) and depression and body image, internalized problem behaviors(51.4%). Conclusion: Since predicting factors of problem behaviors among middle school students by problem behavior type and sex were different, then practitioners should consider these differences when developing programs for them.

유아의 혼자 놀이와 기질 및 문제 행동과의 관계 (Relationships Between Solitary Play and Temperament, Problem Behaviors)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relation between forms of children's solitary play and temperament, problem behaviors. Seventy-six children of four-year-olds were observed during free play. Children's temperament was measured by mothers of participants. Children's problem behaviors were measured by teachers. Following from Coplan et al(1994), this study were analyzed three aggregate measures of solitary play consisting of reticent behavior, solitary-passive play, and solitary-active play. The results of this study shows that first, the highest frequency of solitary play's forms was reticent behavior, followed by solitary-passive play, then solitary-active play. There weren't any differences in children's solitary play according to their gender. Second, there were significant differences among forms of children's solitary play and temperament. And there were gender differences in the correlates of different forms of solitary play. Third there were significant differences among forms of children's solitary play and problem behaviors. Also, there were gender differences in the correlates of different forms of solitary play. This result points out the important of solitary play and distintion of solitary play'forms.

아동의 문제행동 유형에 따른 또래 놀이행동 (Differences of Interactive Peer Play According to the Problem Behaviors Types)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the differences in interactive peer play according to the type of problem behavior. The subjects were 112(67 boys, 45 girls) S-year-old children at 25 daycare centers in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Gyeongsang areas. Instruments included the Preschool Behavior Questionnaire(PBQ; Behar & Stringfield, 1974) and the Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale(PIPPS) in both the teacher version(Choi & Shin, 2008) and the parent version(Fantuzzo, Mendez, & Tighe, 1998). The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, t-test, and one-way ANOVA using the SPSS 18.0 software program. The results showed that the clusters of problem behaviors on the PBQ could be grouped into four categories; 'hostility-aggressiveness', 'hyperactivity- distractibility', 'anxiety-fear', and 'combined'. In addition, group differences among the problem behaviors were significantly found in 'play disruption' and 'play disconnection' but not in 'play interaction' of the PIPPS on teachers' and parents' ratings. Specifically, group differences were not found in the parental reports, while significant group differences were noted in the 'play disconnection on PIPPS component of the teachers' reports.

학령전환기 유아의 문제행동에 대한 연구 (Problem Behaviors of Young Children in the Transitional)

  • 본 연구는 유아의 학령전환기에 있는 만 5세 유아의 문제행동과 관련하여 유아, 교사 및 부모의 관련 변인과 유아의 문제행동에 통계적인 유의미한 차이가 있는지 살펴보고, 변인들의 상대적인 영향력을 알아보고자 한다. 본 연구대상은 학령전환기에 있는 만 5세 유아와 그들의 부모, 그리고 만 5세 유아의 담임교사를 대상으로 하였다. 연구방법은 빈도와 백분율, t-검증, 일원변량분석, 상관관계분석, 그리고 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과로는 첫째, 유아의 문제행동은 어머니 학력에 따라 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며, 둘째, 유아의 기질, 유아의 자아탄력성, 어머니의 양육스트레스, 어머니의 인성특성, 교사-유아관계, 교사의 정서표현성과 유아의 문제행동은 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 셋째, 교사-유아관계가 유아의 문제행동을 가장 잘 예언하는 변인으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 유아변인과 부모변인, 교사변인이 각각 그리고 상호적으로 유아의 문제행동에 대해 어느 정도 설명력을 갖는지를 살펴봄으로서 문제행동에 대한 총체적 이해와 실천에서의 통합모델을 제시하였다고 본다.

어머니 양육행동, 아동의 정서조절 및 스트레스 대처행동이 남아와 여아의 행동문제에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Maternal Parenting Behaviors, Children's Emotional Regulation, and Stress Coping Strategies on Gender-Specific Children's Behavioral Problems)

  • We investigated the effects of maternal parenting behaviors, children's emotional regulation, and stress coping strategies on gender-specific children's behavioral problems. The participants were 191, $4^{th}$ and $5^{th}$ graders and their mothers from four elementary schools in Seoul and Kyung-gi province. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and hierarchical regressions. The major findings were summarized as follows: (1) Active coping strategies explained boys' aggressive behaviors, (2) mother's warm-encouragement parenting behaviors and active coping strategies explained boys' delinquent behaviors, (3) mother's warm-encouragement parenting behaviors explained boys' withdrawn behaviors, and (4) mother's mediation-supervision parenting behaviors and negative emotionality explained girls' aggressive behaviors. In conclusion, maternal parenting behaviors, children's emotional regulation and stress coping strategies have gender-specific influence on children's behavioral problems.
