  • Values of the parameter $\lambda$ are determined for which there exist positive solutions of the system of boundary value problems, $u^{(n)}+{\lambda}p(t)f(\upsilon)=0$, $\upsilon^{(n)}+{\lambda}q(t)g(u)=0$, for $t\;{\in}\;[a,b]$, and satisfying, $u^{(i)}(a)=0$, $u^{(\alpha)}(b)=0$, $\upsilon^{(i)}(a)=0$, $\upsilon^{(\alpha)}(b)=0$, for $0\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;n-2$ and $1\;{\leq}\;\alpha\;\leq\;n-1$ (but fixed). A well-known Guo-Krasnosel'skii fixed point theorem is applied.

  • The present paper proposes a new monotone iteration method for existence as well as approximation of the coupled solutions for a coupled periodic boundary value problem of first order ordinary nonlinear differential equations. A new hybrid coupled fixed point theorem involving the Dhage iteration principle is proved in a partially ordered normed linear space and applied to the coupled periodic boundary value problems for proving the main existence and approximation results of this paper. An algorithm for the coupled solutions is developed and it is shown that the sequences of successive approximations defined in a certain way converge monotonically to the coupled solutions of the related differential equations under some suitable mixed hybrid conditions. A numerical example is also indicated to illustrate the abstract theory developed in the paper.

  • Based on the notion of $q_k$-derivative introduced by the authors in [17], we prove in this paper existence and uniqueness results for nonlinear second-order impulsive $q_k$-difference equations with anti-periodic boundary conditions. Two results are obtained by applying Banach's contraction mapping principle and Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem. Some examples are presented to illustrate the results.

  • This paper is concerned with the existence of positive solutions of the nonlinear Neumann boundary value problems $$\{u^{{\prime}{\prime}}+a(t)u={\lambda}b(t)f(u),\;t{\in}(0,1),\\u^{\prime}(0)=u^{\prime}(1)=0$$, where $a,b{\in}C[0,1]$ with $a(t)>0,\;b(t){\geq}0$ and the Green's function of the linear problem $$\{u^{{\prime}{\prime}}+a(t)u=0,\;t{\in}(0,1),\\u^{\prime}(0)=u^{\prime}(1)=0$$ may change its sign on $[0,1]{\times}[0,1]$. Our analysis relies on the Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem.

  • In this paper, a class of second-order boundary value problems with Sturm-Liouville boundary conditions or multi-point conditions is considered. Some existence and uniqueness theorems of positive solutions of the problem are obtained by using monotone iterative technique, the iterative sequences yielding approximate solutions are also given. The results are illustrated with an example.

  • This paper deals with a nonlinear Langevin equation involving two fractional orders with three-point boundary conditions. Our aim is to find the existence of solutions for the proposed Langevin equation by using the Banach contraction mapping principle and the Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem. Three examples are also given to show the significance of our results.

  • In this paper, by using fixed point theorems in cones, the existence of positive solutions is considered for nonlinear m-point boundary value problem for the following second-order dynamic equations on time scales $({\phi}(u^{\Delta}))^{\nabla}+a(t)f(t,\;u(t))=0$, t $\in$ (0, T), $u(0)=\sum\limits^{m-2}_{i=1}a_iu(\xi_i)$, $\phi(u^{\Delta}(T))=\sum\limits^{m-2}_{i=1}b_i{\phi}(u^{\Delta}(\xi_i))$, where $\phi$ : R $\rightarrow$ R is an increasing homeomorphism and positive homomorphism and ${\phi}(0)=0$. In [27], we obtained the existence results of the above problem for an increasing homeomorphism and positive homomorphism with sign changing nonlinearity. The purpose of this paper is to supplement with a result in the case when the nonlinear term f is nonnegative, and the most point we must point out for readers is that there is only the p-Laplacian case for increasing homeomorphism and positive homomorphism due to the sign restriction. As an application, one example to demonstrate our results are given.

  • In this paper, we are motivated to evaluate and investigate the necessary conditions for the fractional Volterra Fredholm integro-differential equation involving the ς-Hilfer fractional derivative. The given problem is converted into an equivalent fixed point problem by introducing an operator whose fixed points coincide with the solutions to the problem at hand. The existence and uniqueness results for the given problem are derived by applying Krasnoselskii and Banach fixed point theorems respectively. Furthermore, we investigate the convergence of approximated solutions to the same problem using the modified Adomian decomposition method. An example is provided to illustrate our findings.

  • An extension of the contraction mapping theorem is provided in a Banach space setting to approximate fixed points of operator equations. Our approach is justified by numerical examples where our results apply whereas the classical contraction mapping principle cannot.
