  • Cellular Automata (CA) is a discrete and abstract computational model that is being applied in various fields. Applicable as an excellent pseudo-random sequence generator, CA has recently developed into a basic element of cryptographic systems. Several studies on CA-based stream ciphers have been conducted and it has been observed that the encryption strength increases when the radius of a CA's neighbor is increased when appropriate CA rules are used. In this paper, among CAs that can be applied as a one-dimensional pseudo-random number sequence generator (PRNG), one-dimensional 5-neighbor CAs are classified according to the connection state of their neighbors, and the ignition relationship of the characteristic polynomial is obtained. Also this paper propose a synthesis algorithm for an asymmetric 1-D linear 5-neighbor MLCA in which the radius of the neighbor is increased by 2 using the one-dimensional 3-neighbor 90/150 CA state transition matrix.

  • A cellular array parallel multiplier with parallel-inputs and parallel-outputs for performing the multiplication of two polynomials in the finite fields GF$(2^m)$ is presented in this paper. The presented cellular way parallel multiplier consists of three operation parts: the multiplicative operation part (MULOP), the irreducible polynomial operation part (IPOP), and the modular operation part (MODOP). The MULOP and the MODOP are composed if the basic cells which are designed with AND Bates and XOR Bates. The IPOP is constructed by XOR gates and D flip-flops. This multiplier is simulated by clock period l${\mu}\textrm{s}$ using PSpice. The proposed multiplier is designed by 24 AND gates, 32 XOR gates and 4 D flip-flops when degree m is 4. In case of using AOP irreducible polynomial, this multiplier requires 24 AND gates and XOR fates respectively. and not use D flip-flop. The operating time of MULOP in the presented multiplier requires one unit time(clock time), and the operating time of MODOP using IPOP requires m unit times(clock times). Therefore total operating time is m+1 unit times(clock times). The cellular array parallel multiplier is simple and regular for the wire routing and have the properties of concurrency and modularity. Also, it is expansible for the multiplication of two polynomials in the finite fields with very large m.

  • In this research, we estimated annual gross fixed capital stock of transport sector, such as road, railroad, airport and seaport during 1968-1997 in Korea. As basic analytic method, we used the polynomial benchmark method. The polynomial benchmark method requires capital stock estimates of at least two benchmark-years and is distinguished from other methods in the fact that retirement rate can be estimated within the model. To estimate gross fixed capital stock of transport sector. we used the basic data on national wealth surveys in 1968, 1977, 1987 and 1997. and investment data of each transport sector during 1968-1997. We used the most reasonable data in the process of estimation after reviewing the collected data. In estimating, some retirement rates were estimated at (-) value, so we have applied various method to fix up the problem. At last, we have reported several estimation results which can be considered as reasonable ones. Compared our results with those of other researches in Korea, estimates in our research project could be said more accurate than those.

  • This paper proposes two optimal path planning methods of a mobile robot using uDEAS (univariate Dynamic Encoding Algorithm for Searches). Before start of autonomous traveling, a self-controlled mobile robot must generate an optimal global path as soon as possible. To this end, numerical optimization method is applied to real time path generation of a mobile robot with an obstacle avoidance scheme and the basic path generation method based on the concept of knot and node points between start and goal points. The first improvement in the present work is to generate diagonal paths using three node points in the basic path. The second innovation is to make a smooth path plotted with the blending polynomial using uDEAS. Effectiveness of the proposed schemes are validated for several environments through simulation.

  • The finite element analysis (FEA) is a numerical technique to find solutions of field problems. A field problem is approximated by differential equations or integral expressions. In a finite element, the field quantity is allowed to have a simple spatial variation in terms of linear or polynomial functions. This paper represents a review and an accuracy-study of the finite element method comparing the FEA results with the exact solution. The exact solutions were calculated by solid mechanics and FEA using matrix stiffness method. For this study, simple bar and cantilever models were considered to evaluate four types of basic elements - constant strain triangle (CST), linear strain triangle (LST), bi-linear-rectangle(Q4),and quadratic-rectangle(Q8). The bar model was subjected to uniaxial loading whereas in case of the cantilever model moment loading was used. In the uniaxial loading case, all basic element results of the displacement and stress in x-direction agreed well with the exact solutions. In the moment loading case, the displacement in y-direction using LST and Q8 elements were acceptable compared to the exact solution, but CST and Q4 elements had to be improved by the mesh refinement.

  • In this paper, we propose a new multiplication algorithm for primitive polynomial with all 1 of coefficient in case that m is odd and even on finite fields $GF(3^m)$, and compose the multiplier with parallel input-output module structure using the presented multiplication algorithm. The proposed multiplier is designed $(m+1)^2$ same basic cells that have a mod(3) addition gate and a mod(3) multiplication gate. Since the basic cells have no a latch circuit, the multiplicative circuit is very simple and is short the delay time $T_A+T_X$ per cell unit. The proposed multiplier is easy to extend the circuit with large m having regularity and modularity by cell array, and is suitable to the implementation of VLSI circuit.

  • There are two types of Physical Model and RFM (Rational Function Model) is to determinate ground coordinates using KOMPSAT-2 and KOMPSAT-3 satellite data. Generally, RPCs(Rational Polynomial Coefficients) based on RFM is provided for users. This RPCs is to compute the ground coordinates to the image coordinates. If users produce ortho-image with provided RPCs is useful, directly compute the ground coordinates corresponding to image coordinates and check location accuracy etc. are difficult. In this study, a basic algorithm of inverse RPCs that calculates the image coordinates to ground coordinates, compute based on provided RPCs and evaluation of determinated ground coordinates using developed inverse RPCs were proposed.

  • It has been established that a crack has an important effect on the dynamic behavior of a structure. This effect depends mainly on the location and depth of the crack. To identify the location and depth of a crack in a structure. Nikolakopoulos et. al. used the intersection point of the superposed contours that correspond to the eigenfrequency caused by the crack presence. However the intersecting point of the superposed contours is not only difficult to find but also incorrect to calculate. A method is presented in this paper which uses optimization technique for the location and depth of the crack. The basic idea is to find parameters which use the structural eigenfrequencies on crack depth and location and optimization algorithm. With finite element model of the structure to calculate eigenfrequencies, it is possible to formulate the inverse problem in optimization format. Method of optimization is augmented lagrange multiplier method and search direction method is BFGS variable metric method and one dimensional search method is polynomial interpolation.

  • Since JiuZhang SuanShu(九章算術), the basic field of the traditional mathemtics in Eastern Asia is the field of rational numbers and hence irrational solutions of equations should be replaced by rational approximations. Thus approximate solutions of equations became a very important subject in theory of equations. We first investigate the history of approximate solutions in Chinese sources and then compare them with those in Chosun mathematics. The theory of approximate solutions in Chosun has been established in SanHakWonBon(算學原本) written by Park Yul(1621 - 1668) and JuSeoGwanGyun(籌書管見, 1718) by Cho Tae Gu(趙泰耉, 1660-1723). We show that unlike the Chinese counterpart, Park and Cho were concerned with errors of approximate solutions and tried to find better approximate solutions.

  • Two-dimensional analysis provides a comprehensive description of the structure, scales of pattern and directional components in a spatial data set. In spectral analysisi, four functions are illustrated,; the autocorrelation, the periodogram, the R-spectrum and the $\theta$ -spectrum. The R-spectrum and $\theta$ -spectrum function respectively summarize the periodogram in term of scale of pattern and directional components. Sampling is measured in the Naejang National Park area where the Daphniphyllum trees grow. 320 contiguous (15$\times$15)m plots are located along the transect and density of all trees over DBH 3 cm recorded respectively. 12 species of vascular plant are recorded in this survey area. The trend surface of density of all plant are estimated using polynomial regression and are exhibited in 3-dimensional graph and density contour map. Transformation to the corresponding polar spectrum from the periodogram emphasized the directional components and the scales to pattern. R-spectrum corresponding to the scale of pattern of periodogram showed a large peak 15.47 in the interval 9$\theta$-spectrum corresponding to directional components have two peaks 8.28 and 11.05 in the interval $35^{\circ}\theta <45^{\circ}and 125^{\circ}\theta< <135^{\circ}, respectively. Programs to compute all the analyses described in this study was obtained from Dr. Ranshow and was translated to BASIC by the author.
