There have been many studies about education in private institute, yet the researches on mathematics lessons in private institute have not been conducted enough. The purpose of this study is to analyze mathematics private lessons and obtain some implications to improve mathematics lessons in public education. First, a variety of mathematics private lessons were reviewed, and then three prevalent private lesson types were selected in each school level. Then, the nine lessons were observed and recorded, and characteristics were summarized. Later, analyzing frame with two axes (curriculum and communication) was developed, and nine lessons were located in the quadrant. As a conclusion, the weakness and strengths of mathematics private lessons were discussed along with implication to mathematics lessons in public education.
According to changes of college admission policies and the first application for 2009 revised mathematics curriculum, we should redefine characterization of mathematics section in 2017 College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) and prepare a plan on details of making questions related to it. Specially, we need to reflect the voices of the school site in order to determine the method of making CSAT questions which is consistent with the intent of it and contributes to the normal operation of high school curriculum. In this study, we polled out 312 schools among 2,338 high schools nationwide and math teachers of the schools were been chosen were surveyed. The sampling method used a proportionate stratified sampling by the department of education. Analyzing the results of the survey, We redefined characterizations and roles of mathematics section in 2017 CSAT and suggested the details including questions distribution according to optional object of 2017 CSAT mathematics section.
The purpose of this study is to draw implications for improving the method of reflecting the competencies in Korea mathematics curriculum, by analyzing what competencies are reflected in foreign mathematics and curriculum. As a result of the study, foreign countries were reflecting their competencies in mathematics curriculum in various ways. In France mathematics curriculum, the achievement standards of learning competencies(compétences travaillées) that students should reach by cycle were presented, and the related common competencies(socle commun) were indicated. In Australia's mathematics curriculum, the general capabilities for achievement standards were identified, and the achievement criteria for proficiency strands to be reached by grade level were presented. British Columbia's mathematics curriculum actively reflected its competencies. In the mathematics curriculum, domains were reorganized based on the competencies, and achievement standards of the competencies were proposed. The results of this study will help in improving the ways in which were reflected competencies in mathematics curriculum.
The study aims to get real picture of primary mathematics education based on RME in the Netherlands focusing on number and operations strand by reflecting and analyzing the documents in relation to the primary school mathematics curriculum. In order to attain these purposes, the present paper describes the core goals for mathematics education, Dutch Pluspunt textbook series for the primary school, and a learning-teaching trajectory by TAL project which are determinants of the Dutch primary school mathematics curriculum. Under these reflections on the documents, it is analyzed what is the characteristics of number and operations strand in the Nether-lands as follows: counting numbers, contextualization, positioning, structuring, progressive algoritmization based on levels, estimation and insightful use of a calculator. Finally, discussing Points for improving our primary mathematics curriculum and textbook series development are described.
The purpose of this study was to prove the effect of Mathematics field experience trip program on students' attitude in learning Mathematics. For this we developed Jejumok-Gwanna Math-Tour program in 2019 for students which would make them to walk and experience mathematics in the field. In that program, we suggested several Mathematics examples about natural objects and artifacts in Jejumok-Gwanna. After that, we let A middle school students within Jeju to experience this program in order to see the effect of this program. We asked participants to write pre- and past- questionnaire, have an interview, and write review. After analyzing those, this study concluded that the effect of Jejumok-Gwanna Math-Tour on student's attitude in learning mathematics was statically significant. The result of this study suggested that Mathematics Field Experience Study Program could be useful to improve student's attitude in learning mathematics.
The purpose of this study is to analyze of the effect in Mathematics Teachers beliefs on their students beliefs by Latent Class Regression Model (LCRM). For this analysis, the study used the findings and surveys of Kang, Hong (2020) who developed a belief profile by analyzing the mathematical beliefs of 60 high school teachers and 1,850 second-year high school students learning from them through the Latent Class Analysis (LCA). As a result It was observed that 'Nature of Mathematics', 'Mathematic Teaching' and 'Mathematical Ability' of mathematics teachers beliefs influence the mathematical beliefs of students. The teacher's belief of 'Nature of Mathematics' statistically significant effects on students' beliefs in 'School Mathematics', 'Problem Solving', 'Mathematics Learning'. The teacher's belief of 'Teaching Mathematics', 'Mathematical Ability' statistically significant effects on students' beliefs in 'School Mathematics', 'Problem Solving', 'Self-Concept'. The results of this study can give a preview of the phenomenon in which teacher's mathematical beliefs are reproduced into student's mathematical beliefs. In addition, the results of observation of this study can be used to the contents that can achieve the purpose of reorientation for mathematics teachers.
This study aimed to analyze the shifts in the mathematics domains of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) since its inception in 1993, with the intent of identifying improvements for the future. The goal is to provide insights for exploring the direction of assessment in Korean high school mathematics education. To this end, we focused on the test system, content area, and behavioral area within the CSAT mathematics domains. Key findings include: first, the test structure influences the assessment factors and item types, in addition to the examination time and number of items. Second, by analyzing the content area, we established a correlation between the national curriculum and assessment area, and confirmed the importance of setting the assessment area. Third, the examination of the behavioral area tended to the item-type fixation, demonstrating the necessity of the ongoing modifications in evaluation item types. Building upon these findings, we discuss the direction of an evaluation that considers the evolving demands and shifts within mathematics education.

A taxonomy which can be used conveniently for analyzing the vertical articulation of mathematics and science textbooks has been developed. It includes two types sanalysis criterion: one is based on the detail of description and the other is based on the depth of contents in terms of their sequence. These two criterion elements are combined to form groups of 'overlap', 'development' and 'gap' to represent the extent of articulation. Examples of applying the taxonomy are illustrated for the concepts of gemetrical area in mathematics and potential energy in science.

There is the meager level of applying computers to mathematics education. It is because the effective mathematics educational softwares and the various contents that make students' spontaneous participation through the interaction with computers are insufficient. As a solution to solve it, we design and implement the graphic component, graphic entities and function types that are supported in the component was identified through analyzing the mid/high school curriculum, using a simple script language to invoke the functionality of the component improves reusability and extendability. The component can be used to produce the mathematics educational softwares and contents easily that need the facility to draw various functions and geometric figures.
In this paper, descriptive assessment method for middle school mathematics was evaluated by developing a framework for designing and grading problems for descriptive assessment and analyzing the effectiveness of the problems. The new descriptive assessment problems were developed by reviewing the current 7th National Mathematics Curriculum of Korea and aligned mathematics textbooks to define a set of problem design principles and evaluation framework for the assessment strategy. The developed problems were first pilot tested and then revised based on the feedback from the test. The final version was field tested by 100 students in 7th grade middle school. After the field test, the problems were graded by two middle school math teachers and one math education researcher to determine the overall correlation between graders and also to analyze effectiveness of the evaluation framework of the test. This result of this study is expected to assist in the further development of descriptive problems and grading framework by providing a reference work for teachers to better understand the process and the limitations of executing the new assessment strategy.
