A stable and accurate inverse method for extracting potential from spectroscopic data studied. The method is based on the Tikhonov regularization method to overcome the possible instability of nonlinear inverse problems using a priori smooth properties of the potential energy surface. The merit of this method is to treat the potential as continuous functions of the intermolecular coordinates instead of the conventional parameter fitting of restricted potential forms. Numerical study for the Ar-Ar show that from spectroscopic data the exact potential has been recovered whole region and the discrepancies by the dispersion force observed at the large distance between the exact and Morse potential or from RKR method can be eliminated by this method.

This paper proposes a regularized iterative image restoration using method of conjugate gradient considering a priori information. Compared with conventional regularized method of conjugate gradient, this method has merits to prevent the artifacts by ringing effects and the partial magnification of the noise in the course of restoring the image degraded by blur and additive noise. Proposed method applies the constraints to accelerate the convergence ratio near the edge portions, and the regularized parameter suppresses the magnification of the noise. As experimental results, I show the superior convergence ratio and the suppression by the artifacts of the proposed method compared with conventional methods.

Turbo coding and turbo processing have been known as methods close to Shannon limit in the aspect of wireless MIMO communications similarly to wireless single antenna communication. The iterative processing can maximize the mutual effect of coding and interference cancellation, but turbo coding has not been used for turbo processing because of the inherent decoding process delay. This paper proposes a turbo coded MIMO system with adaptive turbo parallel space-time (Turbo-PAST) processing for high-speed wireless communications and a enhanced cyclic redundancy check (E-CRC) scheme as an efficient and simple priori stopping criterion. Simulation results show that the Turbo-PAST outperforms conventional system with 1.3dB and the proposed E-CRC scheme effectively reduces the amount of turbo processing iterations from the point of average number of iterations.
With the proliferation of diverse wireless devices, there is an increasing concern about the security of location information which can be spoofed or disrupted by adversaries. This paper investigates the characterization and detection of location spoofing attacks, specifically those which are attempting to falsify (degrade) the position estimate through signal strength based attacks. Since the physical-layer approach identifies and assesses the security risk of position information based solely on using received signal strength (RSS), it is applicable to nearly any practical wireless network. In this paper, we characterize the impact of signal strength and beamforming attacks on range estimates and the resulting position estimate. It is shown that such attacks can be characterized by a scaling factor that biases the individual range estimators either uniformly or selectively. We then identify the more severe types of attacks, and develop an attack detection approach which does not rely on a priori knowledge (either statistical or environmental). The resulting approach, which exploits the dissimilar behavior of two RSS-based estimators when under attack, is shown to be effective at detecting both types of attacks with the detection rate increasing with the severity of the induced location error.

A recursive parameter estimation scheme utilizing the variance perturbation method is applied to the workpiece deflection model during CNC turning process, in order to improve the cylindricity of slender workpiece. It features that it is based on exponentially weighted recursive least squares method with post-process measurement of finish surfaces at two locations and it does not require a priori knowledge on the time varying deflection model parameter. The measurements of finish surfaces by using two proximity sensors mounted face to face enable one to identify the straightness, guide-way, run-out eccentricity errors. Preliminary cutting tests show that the straightness error of the finish surface due to workpiece deflection during cutting is most dominant. Identifying the errors and recursive updating the parameter, the off-line control is carried out to compensate the workpiece deflection error, through single pass cutting. Experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to the conventional multi-pass cutting and the direct compensation control in cutting accuracy and efficiency.

A joint blind parameter estimation algorithm based on minimum channel stability function aimed at the non-cooperative high-order modulated paired carrier multiple access (PCMA) signals is proposed. The method, which uses hierarchical search to estimate time delay, amplitude and frequency offset and the estimation of phase offset, including finite ambiguity, is presented simultaneously based on the derivation of the channel stability function. In this work, the structure of hierarchical iterative processing is used to enhance the performance of the algorithm, and the improved algorithm is used to reduce complexity. Compared with existing data-aided algorithms, this algorithm does not require a priori information. Therefore, it has significant advantage in solving the problem of blind parameter estimation of non-cooperative high-order modulated PCMA signals. Simulation results show the performance of the proposed algorithm is similar to the modified Cramer-Rao bound (MCRB) when the signal-to-noise ratio is larger than 16 dB. The simulation results also verify the practicality of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, we present an iterative learning method of compensating for position sensor error. The previously known compensation algorithms need a special perfect position sensor or a priori information about error sources, while ours does not. to our best knowledge, any iterative learning approach has not been taken for sensor error compensation. Furthermore, our iterativelearning algorithm does not have the drawbacks of the existing interativelearning control theories. To be more specivic, our algorithm learns an uncertain function itself rather than its special time-trajectory and does not reuquest the derivatives of measurement signals. Moreover, it does not require the learning system to start with the same initial condition for all iterations. To illuminate the generality and practical use of our algorithm, we give the rigorous proof for its convergence and some experimental results.
In EIT(electrical impedance tomography), the internal resistivity(or conductivity) distribution of the unknown object is estimated using the boundary voltage data induced by different current patterns using various reconstruction algorithms. In this paper, we present a regularized modified Newton-Raphson(mNR) scheme which employs additional a priori information in the cost functional as soft constraint and the weighting matrices in the cost functional are selected based on the exponentially weighted least square criterion. The computer simulation for the 32 channels synthetic data shows that the reconstruction performance of the proposed scheme is improved compared to that of the conventional regularized mNR at the expense of slightly increased computational burden.

Terrain referenced navigation(TRN) system is an attractive method for obtaining position based on terrain measurements and a terrain map. We focus on TRN systems based on the point mass filter(PMF) which is one of the recursive Bayesian method. In this paper, we propose two kinds of performance index for Bayesian filter. The proposed indices are based on entropy and mutual information from information theory. The first index measures roughness of terrain based on entropy of likelihood. The second index named by information gain, which is the mutual information between priori and posteriori distribution, is a quantity of information gained by updating measurement at each step. The proposed two indices are used to determine whether the solution from TRN is adequate for TRN/INS integration or not, and this scheme gives the performance improvement. Simulation result shows that the proposed indices are meaningful and the proposed algorithm performs better than normal TRN algorithm.
The aim of this study lies in answering the question "How to form weighting cells to enhance sample representativeness in telephone, Internet and mobile surveys\ulcorner". For this, we explored 2% raw data of Year 2000 Population and Housing Census of Korea looking for meaningful patterns for ownership of telephones, the usage of Internet and/or mobile phones. We found that telephone coverage rates vary significantly by household size; 84.6% for one member households, contrasting 98.5% for two-or-more member households. Thus, telephone survey samples need to be weighted differently in sub-groups by household size for proportional representation of target population. Searching socio-demographic factors influencing the use of Internet by C5.0 tree models, we found that education levels and the occupation (or housing type, the automobile ownership) are two most important factors in addition to gender and age. Thus, surveyor might form weighting cells by such factors at the stage of post-stratification or set quotas, a priori, proportional to size of the cells by such factors. For mobile surveys, we approached similarly and found that education levels and the occupation (or the automobile ownership, marriage status) are two additional factors that may be used in forming weighing cells or in setting quotas for cells.
