Crude polysaccharide fractions of commercially available grape wines (red wine, white wine and wild grape wine) were prepared by evaporation and ethanol precipitation to confirm and identify anti complementary polysaccharides in the wines. When these fractions were evaluated for their anti complementary activity, crude polysaccharide fractions of red wine (RW-0) and wild grape wine (WGW-0) showed higher anti-complementary activities than those of white wine (WW-0). RW-0 and WW-0 were further fractionated into RW-1, WW-1 as high-molecular fractions, and RW-2, WW-2 as low-molecular fractions through gel permeation column chromatography on Sephadex G-75. RW-1 had the most potent activity with the highest carbohydrate content (91.3%). Anti-complementary activity of red wine was higher than that of white wine, suggesting that active polysaccharides such as pectin and hemicellulose are mainly distributed in the grape skin which is removed during white wine making. In addition, high molecular fractions, RW-1 and WW-1 with high contents of carbohydrate and high yields showed higher activities than those of low molecular fractions, RW-2 and WW-2.
The purpose of this study is to find out factors that affect subjective well-being among dental hygienists. The questionnaires were consisted of 7 categories: general characteristics, job characteristic, job satisfaction, job identity, job commitment, Leisure satisfaction and subjective well-being. T-test, ANOVA, multiple linear regression were applied in this analysis. The results are as follows: Job satisfaction, job identity, job commitment and leisure satisfaction had significant influence on positive experience index (p<0.05). Leisure satisfaction was the most significant factor and it positively influences the positive experience index. In order to increase the subjective well-being among dental hygienists, plans that can increase the job satisfaction, job identity, job commitment and leisure satisfaction should be implemented by improving job-related factors.

This study was conducted to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of a 3-week family medicine clerkship program based on the results of an online survey taken by the students (N=127) and a structured interview with a focus group (n=10), aimed to improve the quality of the clerkship program. The online survey contained questions pertaining to goals, schedule, contents, arrangement, atmosphere, environment, evaluation, and satisfaction regarding the clerkship. The focus group interview addressed the schedule and achievements of the program. Scores were reported on a 5-point Likert scale. Most students were highly satisfied with the overall quality of the clerkship. The structured interview results showed that 97.6% of the clerkship program was executed according to the schedule. The focus group reported a perfect score of 5 points on several measures including: accomplishment of the educational goals of the family medicine clerkship, providing many chances to obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations on real patients, experience with various symptoms and diseases, positive attitudes of faculty members when teaching, notification of the guidelines for evaluation beforehand, well-constructed and effective clerkship schedule, and reflection of student feedback. However, the focus group gave low scores on: support for health accidents of students, access to patient information, enough opportunities to practice clinical skills, appropriate rest facilities for students, and fairness of clerkship evaluation process. In conclusion, the structured evaluation performed after the 3-week clerkship program motivated students and helped them ensure an efficient clerkship. This structured evaluation also suggested basic data to make the professor who is subject of the assessment. This study shows that structured assessment is an effective method which can be used to improve the quality of clerkships.
Background: Vitamin D is considered to exert a protective effect on various renal diseases but its underlying molecular mechanism remains poorly understood. This study aimed to determine whether paricalcitol attenuates inflammation and apoptosis during lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced renal proximal tubular cell injury through the prostaglandin $E_2$ ($PGE_2$) receptor EP4. Methods: Human renal tubular epithelial (HK-2) cells were pretreated with paricalcitol (2 ng/mL) for 1 hour and exposed to LPS ($1{\mu}g/mL$). The effects of paricalcitol pretreatment in relation to an EP4 blockade using AH-23848 or EP4 small interfering RNA (siRNA) were investigated. Results: The expression of cyclooxygenase-2, $PGE_2$, and EP4 were significantly increased in LPS-exposed HK-2 cells treated with paricalcitol compared with cells exposed to LPS only. Paricalcitol prevented cell death induced by LPS exposure, and the cotreatment of AH-23848 or EP4 siRNA offset these cell-protective effects. The phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of p65 nuclear factor-kappaB ($NF-{\kappa}B$) were decreased and the phosphorylation of Akt was increased in LPS-exposed cells with paricalcitol treatment. AH-23848 or EP4 siRNA inhibited the suppressive effects of paricalcitol on p65 $NF-{\kappa}B$ nuclear translocation and the activation of Akt. The production of proinflammatory cytokines and the number of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling-positive cells were attenuated by paricalcitol in LPS exposed HK-2 cells. The cotreatment with an EP4 antagonist abolished these anti-inflammatory and antiapoptotic effects. Conclusion: EP4 plays a pivotal role in anti-inflammatory and antiapoptotic effects through Akt and $NF-{\kappa}B$ signaling after paricalcitol pretreatment in LPS-induced renal proximal tubule cell injury.

We investigated characterization as cosmetic substances of chestnut inner skin extracts with in vitro antioxidant activity. Total phenolics of various extracts from chestnut inner skin were the highest 60% methanol (164.82 mg/g), and ethyl acetate fractions (191.14 mg/g). We found that the both samples from chestnut inner skin dose-dependently increased in vitro antioxidant activities (DPPH radical scavenging activity and inhibition of lipid peroxidation). In addition, the both samples also showed a strong UV absorption in the range of UV-B (290-320 nm). Especially the 60% ethanol extracts presented higher inhibitory effect on elastase (46.40% at $100{\mu}g/mL$) than that of the ethyl acetate fractions, so that it showed in vitro anti-wrinkle activity. Finally, the 60% methanol extracts and ethyl acetate fractions showed anti-bacterial activity against skin pathogenic bacteria. Consequently, these results suggest that the chestnut inner skin can be used for cosmetic industry.
Geostationary Ocean Color Imager(GOCI-I), the world's first space-borne ocean color observation geostationary satellite, will be launched on June 2010. Development of GOCI-I took about 6 years, and its expected lifetime is about 7 years. The mission and user requirements of GOCI-II are required to be defined at this moment. Because baseline of the main mission of GOCI-II must be defined during the development time and early operational period of GOCI-I. The main difference between these missions is the global-monitoring capability of GOCI-II, which will meet the necessity of the monitoring and research on climate change in the long-term. The user requirements of GOCI-II will have higher spatial resolution, $250m{\times}250m$, and 12 spectral bands to fulfill GOCI-I's user request, which could not be implemented on GOCI-I for technical reasons. A dedicated panchromatic band will be added for the nighttime observation to obtain fishery information. GOCI-II will have a new capability, supporting user-definable observation requests such as clear sky area without clouds and special-event areas, etc. This will enable higher applicability of GOCI-II products. GOCI-II will perform observations 8 times daily, the same as GOCI-I's. Additionally, daily global observation once or twice daily is planned for GOCI-II. In this paper, we present an improved development and organization structure to solve the problems that have emerged so far. The hardware design of the GOCI-II will proceed in conjunction with domestic or foreign space agencies.

Korean construction engineering firms want to pave the way for expansion of overseas markets through the World Bank's Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects as a way to improve their overseas project performance. However, since the World Bank project competes with global companies for limited projects, building partnerships with suitable business partners is essential to gain an upper hand in bidding competition and meet the institutional conditions of the recipient country. In this regard, many network studies have been conducted in the past through Social Network Analysis (SNA), but few have been analyzed based on the process of changes in the network. So, This study collected winning data from the three Southeast Asian countries that ended after the World Bank's ODA project performed smoothly, and established a learning-based link prediction model that reflected the dynamic nature of the network. As a result, the 11 main variables acting on building a cooperative relationship between winning companies were derived and the effect of each variables on the probability value of cooperation between individual links was identified.

This paper presents the design and cold flow test results of oxidizer-rich preburner injectors for a 9 tonf-class staged combustion engine cycle. Three types of coaxial swirl injectors were designed, and 12 injectors were designed for each type. The diameters of the fuel tangential holes are identical. The diameters of the oxidizer tangential holes were varied to investigate the influence of combustion in the oxidizer-rich preburner according to the momentum ratio of the gas oxidizer generated from combustion in the injector chamber and liquid oxidizer through the cooling channel. It will be verified through a powerpack and combustion test using an oxidizer-rich preburner. In the cold flow test, the fuel flow rate and oxidizer tangential hole flow rate reached the target value based on the designed differential pressure.

The test results of a 7-tonf-class engine for the third-stage engine of KSLV-II are presented. Hot-firing tests performed with two engineering model engines are classified into ground tests and high-altitude tests according to the test conditions. The operability verification of the engines were carried out through short and long duration tests. The full duration test performed for the durability verification of the engines revealed a few of items to be improved. Synthetically, encouraging data of adding power to engine development were obtained from the test results. New engines based on these results will be manufactured and consistently verified through hot-firing tests.

Juvenile olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus (mean weight 66.7±7.1 g; mean length 19.2±0.9 cm) in a bio-floc environment were exposed to microplastic (PE: polyethylene, size 40-48 ㎛) at 0, 4, 20, 100, 500 and 2,500 mg L-1 for 96 hours. No P. olivaceus deaths were observed following microplastic exposure. In the plasma components, calcium was significantly decreased whereas there was no significant change with magnesium following microplastic exposure. Glucose was significantly decreased with over 100mg L-1 at 48 hours and 20mg L-1 at 96 hours. Cholesterol was significantly decreased with over 20mg L-1 after 48 hours, whereas there was no significant change in the total protein content. In enzymatic plasma components, the AST(Aspartate aminotransferase) was significant decreased by microplastic exposure. The results of this study indicate that acute exposure to microplastic induces blood physiological changes in P. olivaceus.
