  • Objectives: While the risk of depression is expected to substantially increase among older adults receiving community care, leisure life satisfaction can be regarded as a key component in enhancing the mental health of those receiving community care. However, it is not yet known whether community care utilization increases the risk of depression, or what role is played by leisure life satisfaction in these settings. This study investigated the relationship between community care utilization and depression, as well as the main effect and the moderating role of leisure life satisfaction on the link between community care utilization and depression among older adults. Methods: This study, using the 2019 Korean Welfare Panel Survey, conducted multiple regression analysis on data from 4494 elderly people aged 65 years or older. Results: After controlling for potential covariates, older community care recipients were more likely to report symptoms of depression than those who did not receive community care. Meanwhile, leisure life satisfaction was negatively associated with depression in older adults. The test for interaction between community care utilization and leisure life satisfaction revealed that leisure life satisfaction significantly attenuated the link between depression and community care utilization. Conclusions: The findings of this study imply that leisure life satisfaction could play a meaningful role in improving the mental health of older adults receiving community care. Welfare policies affecting older adults should consider leisure life satisfaction as an important resource for reducing depression in community care settings.

  • Purpose: Importance of patient satisfaction related to patient-centeredness has been emphasized, and it is known to have effect on various health outcomes including health resource utilization. However, the effect of patient satisfaction has been discussed mostly in terms of hospital marketing in Korea. This study aims to examine the effect of patient satisfaction in patient-physician communication on healthcare utilization in a nationally representative adult population of South Korea. Method: Patient satisfaction with physician communication is assessed using 4 items in the 2011 Korea Health Panel Survey. Generalized linear regression analysis is conducted using 9,325 adults' healthcare utilization in 2012. Findings: Adjusting for the socio-demographic, economic factors, individual health status, health behaviors and healthcare utilization in 2011, more satisfied individuals, more likely to utilize the outpatient service, especially in clinical setting. Practical Implications: The study findings suggests that in context of South Korea healthcare system such as insufficient medical consultation time and the absence of health delivery system, patient satisfaction as a subjective healthcare quality indicator would have effect on the individual's outpatient visit. This study contributes to stimulate patient satisfaction research and discussion in South Korea to further explore its relationship with potential and various health related outcomes. Further implications of the study are discussed.

  • This study investigated whether college students' self-efficacy, learning strategy utilization, academic burnout, and school support predict course satisfaction and learning persistence. To this end, self-efficacy, learning strategy utilization, academic burnout, and school support were used as prediction variables; and course satisfaction and learning persistence, as criterion variables. The subjects were 178 students who registered for online and mobile "Culture and Art History" courses at K online university. They participated in an online survey. Multiple regression analysis revealed that self-efficacy and learning strategy utilization positively predicted course satisfaction and learning persistence, academic burnout negatively predicted them, and school support predicted neither. Accordingly, we suggest that raising self-efficacy and learning strategy utilization, and reducing academic burnout in the learning environment will improve the course satisfaction and learning persistence of online learners.

  • The purpose of this study is to work out strategy for utilization of Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map (ECVAM) using the user survey. It surveyed system users of ECVAM about its recognition and satisfaction. The results of the survey, the ECVAM became more popular and were highly satisfied with updated data. Especially, the study found a relationship between the satisfaction of ECVAM and accuracy, utilization, and convenience of the system. However, the satisfaction has a difference between user groups, a government official and a agent for EIA including researchers. The satisfaction of the agent group was affected by the convenience, the accuracy, and the utilization in order. In the other hand, the satisfaction of the government official group was affected by the utilization, the convenience, the accuracy, and recognition in order. Therefore, we need to adopt different strategies for educations of ECVAM and publicity activities depending on user groups. To increase the satisfaction of ECVAM, we should research not only to attain pinpoint accuracy, but also to suggest the guideline to utilize the map for a government official.

  • The study looked into the effect of internet utilization (utilization frequency and utilization ability in internet) on the life satisfaction level for the elderly in depth. In order to verify the correlation of two variables, a mediating model structured by ego integrity was used which gave out the Seoul welfare panel data created by Seoul welfare foundation in 2010. The total sample size was a group of 1862 elders aged over 60. When it came to our research methods, structured equation analysis was applied to verify the mediating effect and theoretical background. The findings are as follows: First, elderly's utilization frequency in internet is not an influencing factor to life satisfaction and elderly's utilization ability in internet is an influencing factor to life satisfaction. Second, the level of social activity did function as partial mediator on relationship between elderly's utilization ability in internet and life satisfaction. This study indicates theoretical and practical interventions to promote elderly's utilization in internet.

  • This study analyzed the satisfaction and utilization of the institutional applications used by child-education institutions from a parent's perspective. The research target is a parent who enlisted their children in private kindergarten institution located in Gyeong-gi province and final research outcomes are 443 in total. The difference in satisfaction and utilization have been identified with demographic descriptive statistics, students t-test, and F-test statistics analysis method. First, the result of T-test on the difference in satisfaction and utilization based on parents' employment status shows that statistically significant difference was found in convenience from overall satisfaction, communication from overall utilization and child-parent relationship. Second, the F-test of differences in satisfaction and utilization showed a statistically significant difference in education utilization variables, with all variables in educational background and motivation. In terms of utilization, parents' educational background and overall utilization, and children's age were confirmed to have significant differences in communication, children's relationship, and motivation in basic life. Third, the result of multiple regression analysis shows that all predictors, including ease of use, communication, and satisfaction with educational activities, have a statistically significant impact on utilization standard variables, relative contributions showed the highest level of communication satisfaction. Therefore this paper implicates that institutional applications can maximize educational effectiveness by checking the applicability of active communication and educational activities with parents and actively communicating with parents in early childhood through various educational content applications.
