  • The PATROL instructional model only uses digital textbooks. PATROL is an acronym for Planning, Action, Tracking, Recommending, Ordering, and Leading. Teachers have a difficult time using current digital textbooks to determine how much time students spend using course materials. This is because current digital textbooks can only show the content of paper textbooks and display additional multimedia materials. In this study, digital textbook functions were designed based on the PATROL model in order to analyze students' learning situations, diagnose problems, and offer solutions. Digital textbook are based on learning analytics named SEE-PAD. SEE-PAD is composed of the following: Social network analysis; Evaluation and assEssment analysis; Predictive analysis; Adaptive learning analysis; and the analysis Dashboard. I drew and showed the use case and sequence diagrams of SEE-PAD to help design digital textbook functions.

  • Environmental impact assessment (EIA) is a tool used in planning development strategies and projects, and its use has been adopted into planning regulations in a number of countries. EIA has progressed from the consideration of pollution assessment, through the wider range of ecological assessment. Now EIA is required to consider the textbook of university students. Students taking lesson on EIA textbook are generally majoring in a variety of subjects, including environmental engineering, environmental health, environmental science, city planning, civil engineering, public policy, economics, and applied earth sciences. However, substantiality program of teaching material on EIA textbook has not been studied at expert society in the meantime, though a number of EIA textbook have been published every year in Korea. In current study, we presented the point at issue and improvement method of teaching material of EIA for student using domestic and foreign teaching materials and papers.

  • It is hard to imagine teaching statistics without the help of technology. Technology is changing the way in which the content of introductory statistics is taught and the forms of textbook used. Almost all students carry mobile devices all the time that allows them to learn anytime and anywhere if we provide them with statistical electronic textbook. The use of smartphones for asking questions and finding answers in class, it can encourage students to engage more in lectures. This paper analyzes the data obtained using e-textbook in traditional classroom and discusses the future research direction of e-textbooks.

  • This study was conducted to identify factors that influenced teachers' adoption of digital textbooks and causal relationships among the factors identified. Chasm theory was used in developing strategies for adoption of digital textbooks that consider teachers' innovativeness. This study also employed the information technology adoption model of Davis (1989) that illustrates decision making processes for the adoption of instructional media such as digital textbooks. Based on these two theories, a measurement instrument measuring teachers' innovativeness, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and intention of use was developed and validated through a series of reliability and validity tests. Causal relationships among the factors were examined using structural equation modeling. The result indicated that: a) perceived ease of use had a directional effect on perceived usefulness and an indirect effect on intention of use; and b) perceived usefulness had a direct effect on intention of use. Implications of this finding are discussed especially for the efforts in developing strategies for teachers' adoption of digital textbook. For example, when digital textbooks are introduced into public schools, teachers' perception of the usefulness of digital textbooks, beyond just ease of use, should be considered.

  • Digital textbook is noted as a new education materials to realize a new education paradigm with changes in digitalized society. The purposes of this study is investigation of key factors on digital textbook satisfaction by selecting of the three factors(domestic environment factor, teachers factor, school environment factor), analysis of awareness of effect factors on digital textbook satisfaction, and verification for each effect factors' influence on elementary school. 201 elementary school students, 201 their parents, and 12 teachers in Chung-nam were surveyed and factors which influenced on digital textbook satisfaction were analyzed. According to the results, firstly, there was a statistical significant difference in domestic internet environment, device owned environments, the utilization of the internet for the purpose of education and using time, device type of teachers, lesson time of digital textbook used in class and time ratio. Secondly, multiple regression analysis was conducted to find out the influence on digital textbook, the Awareness of parents about digital textbook, The lesson time using digital textbook by teacher, The utilization of the internet for the purpose of education affected satisfactions significantly in the order. This study has significant implications about which we have provided the effort needed to use digital textbook.

  • There are some researches for international comparing of textbook and curriculum, so far. But These researches focused on comparing special region of textbook or curriculum. On the contrary, there are hardly papers how teacher's guide is consists and different with other country. In this paper, we have analyzed teacher's guide of Korea and Everyday Mathematics which is one of the teacher's guide in the many counties in the united states of America. Especially, teaching method, differentiated contents of curriculum, characteristics of consists of curriculum and so on. On the basis of this analysis, we search the improvement points of teaching of primary mathematics and also we make all the primary school teachers realize the diversity of teaching method through foreign cases and consequently they will make use of these results as a reference material such as reconstruction of textbook.

  • This study was done to develop a digital textbook for students to use over the internet for maternity nursing practice. The textbook is not only for student nurses, but also for nurse midwives and nurses working in the maternity. The process used was as follows; 1. Existing educational media on maternity nursing were reviewed and examined. 2. Workshops and meetings were held to decide the most appropriate type of presentation. 3. The digital content including text, pictures, audios, and videos were developed using Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premier. 4.Revisions were made recursively as the content was previewed and implemented over the internet by professionals and the end-users. 5. A database of members and a web survey module were developed and posted. The clinical implication of a digital textbook over the internet is the possibility of using it to educate many student nurses throughout the country and to disseminate the content for whoever needs it in practice settings and facilities. Another implication is that this site stressed interactivity by developing member database and web survey. In conclusion, the study found this first trial of digital textbook to be a unique educational media for nursing skills practice. Further refinement of this media is strongly recommended.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze inductively Critical Success Factors of Digital Textbook-Based Instruction based on qualitative research. To accomplish the purpose of the study, D elementary school in Incheon, one of digital textbook model schools, was selected as the school for observation. Three fifth graders and their teacher were interviewed and their six lessons were used for analyzing teaching and learning activities in digital textbook-based instruction. The results of the study, 'the use of systematic strategies based on multimedia features', 'information literacy-related questions and answers', 'specific guidance and help', 'the stability of the physical system and equipment', 'active collaborative learning and interaction', 'individual self-directed learning', 'consideration of emotional/physical changes', 'selection and concentration based upon available resources were identified as critical success factors of digital textbook-based instruction.

  • This study aims to select eight books to see if "potential complement" is sufficiently acquired and properly used in Chinese conversation textbooks, explore the reasons and problems of learners' errors through analysis, and briefly suggest textbook compilation and teaching. Twelve criteria were established and analyzed, including the concept and format of "potential complement", layout order, location of objects, three types of forms, distinction from auxiliary verb "能" and distinction between "能+V+結果補語". Some of the results of the study are simply as follows. All eight textbooks focus only on "possibility," missing an important part of "the impact of objective conditions" that the term "potential complement" does not contain. This is certainly enough to cause confusion for learners. A poor understanding of the concept of "potential complement" results in identifying it with the possible auxiliary verb "能", and incorrect mixing because it does not know exactly what the difference is. Most of the textbooks compiled in China place a high importance on "potential complement". This means that Chinese people often use "potential complement" in real life. on the other hand relatively Korean textbooks do not deal with "potential complement" relatively importantly.
