  • This paper examines technical writing and teaching methods based on the perspectives of the complex learning system theory. So, the paper first discusses the constituent elements and characteristics of the complex learning system theory and continues to examine the potential of applying the complex learning system theory to new teaching methods. As a result, not only did the research expand the approach methods of providing technical writing education but also confirmed the potential of actual implementation. Such results will provide a leeway to start applying new teaching methods for technical writing education. Furthermore, the paper proposes more detailed case studies related to this topic as well as development of this research to produce textbooks and other higher level researches.

  • Big data analysis is analyzed and used in a variety of management and industrial sites, and plays an important role in management decision making. The job competency of big data analysis personnel engaged in management analysis work does not necessarily require the acquisition of microscopic IT skills, but requires a variety of experiences and humanities knowledge and analytical skills as a Data Scientist. However, big data education by state-run and state-run educational institutions and job education institutions based on the National Competency Standards (NCS) is proceeding in terms of software engineering, and this teaching methodology can have difficult and inefficient consequences for non-technical majors. Therefore, we analyzed the current Big Data platform and its related technologies and defined which of them are the requisite job competency requirements for field personnel. Based on this, the education courses for big data analysis and visualization techniques were organized for non-technical-based majors. This specialized curriculum was conducted by working-level officials of financial institutions engaged in management analysis at the management site and was able to achieve better educational effects The education methods presented in this study will effectively carry out big data tasks across industries and encourage visualization of big data analysis for non-technical professionals.

  • The purpose of this study was to analysis a satisfaction about technical specialized high school supported by Seoul metropolitan office of education. The study was carried out through questionnaire survey method. The population sample for the study constituted 894 completed questionnaires from sample of 1050 technical specialized high school students and parents. A survey questionnaire for students consisted of 20 scales, and it for parents consisted of 16 scales. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed for data analysis. Major findings of this study were as follows: First, satisfaction perceived technical specialized high school students supported by Seoul metropolitan office of education was high. In sub-variables of school satisfaction, 'school facilities' was the highest, and 'relation to teacher' was the lowest. Second, three related variables were found to be significant in affecting the satisfaction of technical specialized high school students supported by Seoul metropolitan office of education. They were grade of students, achievement of students, and school type(public school/private school). Third, their parents were satisfied with technical specialized high school supported by Seoul metropolitan office of education. Fourth, gender difference of parents and school type(public school/private school) had no appreciable affect on satisfaction of parents.

  • Education and training is an important means of promoting safety culture and enhancing the level of competence of radiation worker in radiation protection. The existing international nuclear education and training of short duration has been carried out on the high-level officials and focussed on the classroom based training. The developing countries has been asking for support to cultivate their own technical experts to Korea which is a donor country exporting nuclear power plants. This paper summarizes the results of developing and operating the international education and training course to froster technical experts in radiation protection that emphasized practical training sessions and technical visits using the excellent domestic radiation facilities and infrastructure of education and training. It mentions the procedures of assessment and feedback as well. In an effort to maximize teaching-learning effects and to maintain consistency of the learning objectives, methods and assessment, SAT methodology has been applied on the processes of developing and operating the course. In the comparative and final assessment which were conducted at the beginning or at the end of training course, participants' average score increased around 2 points. The questionnaire of participants showed a high level of satisfaction of 4.0 points or above for the most of the questions. These imply teaching-learning methods applied to it might be effective. The teaching-learning methodologies may provide the opportunity to develop the customized training course for bringing up international technical experts and to shift educational paradigm from theory-oriented to on-site practice-based education.

  • In this study, improvement of university education is suggested so that university graduates in Architectural Engineering can work in the plant engineering industry without major retraining, which is generally required by plant engineering companies. Before the disposition of manpower to a plant engineering site, new recruits are retrained for about 2~3 years, since university education is neither sufficient, nor appropriate to handle plant engineering tasks. It is necessary to implement practical plant engineering into university education, so that graduates can work effectively in plant engineering fields, without major retraining. For a case study of an S2 University located in Seoul, it is enough to supplement the interdisciplinary program with plant engineering subjects, if proper texts are developed. To replace the plant engineering education offered by the company with university education, the following measures should be taken. First, basic plant engineering should be taught for 15 hours. Second, education on design and drawings should be reinforced.
