  • Recently, there has been a growing interest among domestic universities in effective teaching methods to improve learning effects. In addition, a shift from an instructor-centered teaching method to a student-centered teaching method has been pursued, in a bid to enhance student learning competencies in educational settings. The purpose of this study is to develop a building construction curriculum that applies team-based learning, which is an approach towards student-centered learning. The major research findings are as follows. A building construction curriculum that applies team-based learning was developed based on an analysis of the operational status of lectures and team-based learning courses among universities in Korea. Learning procedures, the weekly curriculum and curriculum operation plans were also developed for the team-based learning course. The curriculum presented in this study is a general curriculum that can be applied to domestic universities. As such, it is expected that individual universities can adjust and apply the curriculum according to the educational conditions and characteristics of both instructors and students.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the online team project based learning on problem-solving, cooperative self-efficacy, and cooperative self-regulation of college students. Design: Single group pre-post design. Methods: The online team project based learning was conducted for a total of 92 college students for 8 weeks. A survey was conducted on problem-solving ability, cooperative self-efficacy, and cooperative self-regulation. In the online team project-based class, two projects were performed. It consists of video lectures and real-time video conferencing. Through the real-time video conference, the project was carried out based on discussion among learners and feedback was provided. Results: There was a significant difference in the change in problem-solving ability compared to before learning (p<0.05). As a result of the evaluation of cooperative self-efficacy, there was a significant difference (p<0.05). There was a significant differences in cooperative self-regulation compared to before learning (p<0.05). Conclusion: The online team project-based learning are effective in improving learners' problem-solving ability, cooperative self-efficacy, and cooperative self-regulation.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of team-based learning (TBL) program on problem solving ability, critical thinking disposition and self-directed learning in junior nursing students caring for patients with respiratory diseases. Methods: One-group pretest-posttest design was used. TBL program was carried out for 2 hours a week for 6 weeks. Data were collected by questionnaires from 167 nursing students from March 6 to June 5, 2013. Data were analyzed by paired t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: At the completion of TBL program, significant improvement was found in problem solving ability (t=-6.04, p<.001), critical thinking disposition (t=5.02, p<.001) and self-directed learning (t=5.96, p<.001). There was a significant positive correlation among problem solving ability, critical thinking disposition and self-directed learning. Conclusion: In conclusion, TBL is a useful teaching and learning method on nursing students. We suggest that it is needed to measure the educational effects of TBL against other teaching methods in the future studies.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the educational effects of team learning by having learners keep a journal to record, check and reflect on their own learning. It's basically meant to investigate the effects of team learning on learning motivation and academic achievements to provide some information on teaching-learning strategy setting tailored to learner characteristics. Methods : The subjects in this study were 49 college sophomores. After they were divided into an experimental group and a control group, the experimental group of 24 students engaged in team learning from March to June, 2012, and that group was asked to keep a reflective journal every week to determine whether writing a reflective journal in every session served to boost their learning motivation and academic achievement or not. Results : 1. After the experimental group kept a reflective journal, that group underwent a significant change in learning motivation from a mean of 3.34 in the pretest to a mean of 4.01 in the posttest(p<0.05). The experimental group showed a more positive improvement than the control group. 2. After the experimental group kept a reflective journal, they underwent a significant change in academic achievement from 22.7 in the pretest to 23.5 in the posttest(p<0.05). The control group showed no significant improvement in academic achievement. Conclusions : The findings of the study illustrated that keeping a reflective journal had a positive impact on the learning motivation of the learners, and the findings of the study are expected to lay the foundation for future research in new teaching methods for the department of dental hygiene.

This experimental study is designed for a equivalent control group. The program was put into practice 1 times a week for 8 weeks. The number of subjects in this research consists of 120, where 60 of the experimental group participated in team based learning program and 60 of the control group didn't do. The data was analyzed by ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher's exact test, independent t-test, and paired t-test. The effects of team based learning approaches on learning outcomes in high risk pregnant nursing are as follows: The problem solving skill of the experimental group has been significantly more elevated than that of the control group. The experimental group has made increase in communication ability. This study has significance in that it identified the availability of the team based learning program and that it would be useful teaching and learning method to achieve learning outcomes.

  • This paper identified the source of inspiration to cooperatively design a fashion collection from US undergraduate clothing design students and addressed how to implement team-based learning strategy to conceptual clothing design in class. Data was collected from the total of 51 students in a senior clothing design course at a large 4-year university in the US. The assigned project for this class was to develop a group collection under a same theme. Each student worked with his/her team member(s) to create an outfit and the entire class worked as a group to create a cohesive collection. The study showed that the sources of inspiration for the themes/concepts came from 11categories: historic era/old Hollywood glamour, shape/line/structure/architectural, fairy tales movies, nature/abstract, circus/mysterious, occasion/place, object, designer/artist, futuristic, culture, and various movies. To implement cooperative learning strategies in the clothing design class, a total of five class presentation/discussion sessions were held for theme/concept decision, fabric decision, design decision, test garment evaluation and design modification, and final products. Throughout the design process, team-based learning strategy promoted students' engagement and participation and inspired their critical thinking skills for making decisions within a team.

  • Purpose: To examine the applicability of a team-based learning using reflection journal in Women's Health Nursing for nursing students. Methods: This study had a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design. Participants were 140 third-year undergraduate nursing students who agreed to participate in this study. The experimental group (n=70) received twice team-based learning using reflection journal about pregnancy nursing course while the control group (n=70) received only team-based learning. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, $x^2$ test, Fisher's exact test, and independent t-test using SPSS 23.0 program. Results: Compared to the control group, the experimental group reported significant positive changes in critical thinking (t=2.03, p=.044). Problem-solving, self-leadership, or academic self-efficacy of nursing college students was not significantly different between the two groups. Conclusion: Team-based learning using reflection journal is an effective teaching strategy to enhance critical thinking of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the change of comprehension degree about learning satisfaction and capstone class by applying the subject which draws idea for team project task in college to creative capstone design program. The Capstone Design Program is designed to train fieldworkers with creative problem solving skills and is widely applied as a problem-solving course in team-based projects. In this paper, based on the case study of the 'fusion capstone design' operated in the first semester of 2015 ~ 2017, the capstone design course was established in the course of designing ideas for problem solving. The results of this study are as follows: First, the questionnaire about capstone design instruction process, instruction method, and learning achievement satisfaction were analyzed. As a result, understanding of capstone design was found to be higher than that of class before class, and satisfaction of performance course, method of teaching performance and learning outcome were obtained.
