  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to enhance the effect of pictures on sexual education on primary school children which is one of the most crucial topics in health education and to evaluate how utilizing drawings can contribute to the development of school children's appropriate knowledge and attitude toward sexuality. Methods: This research followed the pre-test /post-test experimental and control group design. The selected school children of four classes at sixth grade in the H primary school in Gyeongi-do uijeongbu province had a pre-test about the knowledge and attitude toward sexuality. With the result of homogeneity data, three classes out of the four classes were chosen to be the subject of the post-test and these three groups took the "Sexual Education through Pictures." Results: After analyzing the data, average scores about the knowledge for class participants were higher than the non participants' (p =.000). Average scores about the knowledge of boys and girls who participated in class were higher than the non participants' (boys; p =.00, girls: p =.000). In addition, average scores about the attitude for class participants' were higher than the non participants' (p =.03), but there was not statistically significant among gender. Conclusion: From the results above, "Sexual Education through Pictures" proved to be a systematic and scientific method to develop a positive influence towards the knowledge and attitude of sexuality for primary school children of the sixth graders. These results show that the above teaching materials suggest an effective method to develop appropriate knowledge and attitude towards primary school children's sexual education.

  • Notwithstanding various discourses among scholars on the unique characteristics of comics, in Korea there is nevertheless a scarcity of quality research on the subject. Therefore, to promote quality research, it is important to consider how to best use source materials in the field of comics scholarship. Source materials can generally be categorized into three types: pre-existing comics, scholar-generated comics and user-generated comics. For this study, user-generated comics are the primary source materials, specifically comics created by mothers of children with disabilities. It is intended that this research will contribute to the future direction of education for mothers who suffer from a relative sense of alienation as the primary caregivers of children with special needs. Although therapeutic arts and cultural programs make a tremendous difference in the lives of these mothers, teaching methodology and educational opportunities are extremely limited. Furthermore, existing scholarship focuses primarily on either the psychological transformation of the individual or a phenomenological approach for parents to understand and deal with the problematic behavior of children with disabilities. However, this research does little to help improve learning programs for these parents. Against this backdrop, this research sets out to consider the potentiality and effectiveness of using comics in the education of mothers of children with disabilities. These mothers, by creating comics, develop better awareness of themselves in a positive and enriching way. It is therefore hoped that this research provides a useful analysis for developing the potentiality and effectiveness of these programs.

  • The aim of this study is to examine the effects of the story sharing activity on-conflicting situations by the use of children's story on the theory of mind and peer competences of preschoolers so that appropriate teaching materials can be allocated for the actual preschool education site. The subjects of this study were 46 preschoolers under the age 4 at the attached kindergarten of P University in Pohang City, Gyeongbuk and in which 23 children among them were assigned to a test group and the other 23 to a control group. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS ver. 15.0 program and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient was yielded to verify the reliability for each scale. The multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) was conducted. The analysis results are as follows. First, the story sharing activity on conflict situations by using children's story had a significant effect on the preschoolers' general appearance and actual task as sub-factors of the theory of mind, whereas no significant effects were found regarding the content change task and position change task. Second, the story sharing activity on conflict situations by using children's story had significant effect on the preschoolers' overall sensitivity, insecurity and pro-sociability as sub-factors of the peer competences, whereas no significant effects were found regarding the aggression, exclusivity and anti-sociability.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify changes and differences in perceptions of disabilities, attitudes toward inclusive education, and teacher efficacy in Early childhood pre-service teachers through capstone design-based disability teaching material production classes. The study participants were 50 third-year child care majoring students (25 experimental group, 25 comparison group) who participated in capstone design class for one semester in 2020 at 3-year K university. Looking at the results of the study, the experimental group, which produced teaching materials for the disabilities, showed significant changes in disability awareness, attitude toward inclusive education, and teacher efficacy than the comparative group. there was a positive change in the perception of disability due to an increase in the overall understanding and knowledge of the disabilities. It is judged that these positive changes in the perception of people with disabilities gave positive changes to the attitude toward inclusive education and teachers' efficacy. This positive change of early childhood pre-service teachers will serve as an opportunity to improve the quality of teaching behavior and various roles of teachers when interacting with children with disabilities in the inclusive education field.

  • The purpose of this study was to design an interactive multimedia nutrition education program for preschoolers. Computer technology provides the opportunity to explore new and creative methods of delivering nutrition education to pre-schoolers. If this method is effective, more preschoolers can be reached with accurate and consistent nutrition education with less time and teaching staff. This program is a computer-based multimedia nutrition education program for pre-schoolers based on the Dick and Carey (Dick & Carey 2001) model of instructional design which includes analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The overall instructional goal was based on the needs of the target population. The needs assessment was a self-administered survey distributed to 1,426 parents of preschoolers, focusing on the need for preschoolers' nutrition education. The results of the survey indicated that parents wanted their children to learn reasons for eating nutritious food. Therefore, a program titled 'Nutrition Exploration' was developed with the instructional goal of teaching preschoolers the 5 Food Groups. To achieve this goal, the preschoolers were engaged in a game. They could earn colored jewels by completing the game in five sessions. The story line was that people living in a peaceful kingdom become sick after they lose the jewels. The learner takes an adventurous journey through five different countries to retrieve the jewels. These countries are 'Giwoon nahrah' (foods containing carbohydrates, such as rice and potatoes), 'Sangsang nahrah' (foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals, such as vegetables and fruits), 'Sooksook nahrah' (calcium-con-taming products such as milk), 'Teunteun nahrah' (protein-containing foods such as meat and fish) , and 'Gakeum nahrah' (products with high sugar and fat content, such as instant foods and soda). The learner who obtains five jewels in five different countries can save the kingdom. For the program to be effective and efficient, the multimedia had to be easy for the preschooler to enter, use, and exit. The verbal instructions enhanced child autonomy, and the program was developmentally appropriate so that the young child could easily manipulate the software. This research provides the basis for the continued development of computer-based nutrition education materials.

  • As the interest in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) increases worldwide in and around UNESCO, the aids for IT equipment and the donations for educations to developing countries are being active. Through Powerpoint-based teaching and learning contents simply authored by teachers, Mischief can be used to help many children in self-driven class activities. In this paper, we developed an additional program to control mouse pointers of Mischief with image files, size, and speed factors. Then we applied them to elementary students for enhancing their interest and participation to class activities.

  • Unplugged has been widely used as an instrument for teaching the basic principles of Computer Science. This study presents the teaching contents developed for the children without any knowledge of binary numbers. which successfully guided them to understand the natural number binary system. The level of the pre-lesson for this learning requires counting numbers, matching numbers with cards, and arranging numbers. The activity-based learning is provided for describing natural numbers with the binary system and finding out them in everyday life. To check the adequacy of these materials on their organization and assessment they were tested at the classroom, which showed effective about the knowledge, the attitude and the generalization.
