A Study on Accelerated Life Tests for Magnetic Switch Used in Distribution System (배전선로에 사용되는 전자개폐기(Magnetic Switch)의 가속수명시험에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, accelerated life test (ALT) models and procedures for Magnetic Switch (MS) are developed and applied to assure specified reliability of the products at development phase and guarantee the life of the products. Magnetic contactor that functions with over-current relay is called MS. Magnetic contactor closes and opens the motor load with ON/OFF switch of electronic contactor. It is also used for protecting and controlling the load. Magnetic contactor detects the over-current flow in the load with a over-current relay and disconnects the load by opening its control power. In this study, ALT models for MS are developed using the relationship between stresses and life characteristics of products. Using the ALT models, we performed life tests and analyzed the tests results. The proposed ALT models and procedures may be extended and applied to testing similar kinds of products to reduce test times and costs of the tests remarkably. Finally the results of this study will contribute to improving reliability of products and strengthening competitiveness of our products in world markets.

  • Since DAS(Distribution Automation System) has been typically managed for feeder automation in passive manner, it has to be managed by operator when feeder over loadings are detected therefore it may be possible for propagating the over loaded area by operator's mistake. To overcome the defect, The author proposed the feeder switch automation using active database.

  • In this paper, we consider the simple redundant structures with the function of hardware based active/standby control. The system includes two switch modules. The switch module is connected to a data bus, but only the active switch module has control of the data bus. The standby unit takes over the function of the active unit when the active unit failure or mode command are asserted. And this paper illustrate the high-speed router system and the overall redundant system architecture. The proposed redundant architecture for 80G Router system is verified and implemented with experiment.

  • In this study, We developed the microprocessor based controller for Auto Section Switch(ASS). This is installed at consumer's medium-high voltage(load capacity is below 4,000 kVA) switchgear. This function is cooperate with protection device of fault section and automatically dividing the section. And It is designed by Air putter type extinction structure and adopt the mechanism and breaking part module of existing Load Breaker Switch. In addition, We successfully conducted the operation test and checked main function of proto-type.

  • The Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM) networks are being adopted as backbones over various parts of Internet. TCP is one of the most widespread transport protocols and can be used with ATM. But, TCP shows poor end-to-end performance on ATM networks. Effective throughput of TCP over ATM can be quite low when cells are dropped at the congested ATM switch. As congested link transmits cells from corrupted packets, it wastes bandwidth and throughput becomes low. This paper examines the behavior of TCP over ATM-UBR using EPD switch in a broadband environment. As threshold value closes to the buffer size, the buffer can be used more efficiently, but more drops and retransmission occur. If the threshold value is much less than buffer size, efficiency becomes low, but few drops can be happen. Therefore, the decision of threshold value becomes important factor.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive carrier-based pulse width modulation (PWM) method for a four-switch three-phase (4S3P) inverter under dc-link voltage ripple conditions. The proposed method guarantees balanced output currents despite of the existence of the voltage oscillations across two dc-link capacitors. And also, this new approach achieves a linear over-modulation with calculation time reduction. Simulation and experimental results are given to validate the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • To cut down the maintenance expenses at branch lines, the foreign developed countries have developed the low-cost signalling on low-density lines. These examples are FFB(FunkFahrBetrieb) Radio based train operation by German railways(Deutsche Bahn AG), ERTMS REGIONAL by Europe and LOCOPROL system using a GPS. Also, Korea is developing Information and Communication Technology based low-cost signalling on low-density lines. The characteristics of this system are directly controled switch and crossing by driver. For the purpose of this paper, we reviewed the business process for switch and crossing control. Specially, we compared and analysed both methods whether the driver takes control over the operation procedures of switch or the control message is carried by the command of the controller. And by utilizing the instrument of UML, I planned the switch according to the control authority and the operation procedures needed for the control of crossing.

  • In this paper a DPDT(Double-Pole Double Through) switch with defected ground structure(DGS) is proposed. The equivalent circuit for the proposed switch structure is derived according to based on equivalent circuit of proposed DGS unit structure. The equivalent circuit parameters of DGS unit are extracted by using the circuit analysis method. The on/off operation of the proposed switch is obtained by varying the capacitance of the varactor diode at the defected ground plane. In the case of ON state, the insertion loss of the fabricated DPDT was shown under 1dB. And in OFF state, we found the rejection characteristic over 20dB at the designed frequency 2.45GHz. The experimental results show excellent insertion loss at on state and isolation at off state.

3:1 Bandwidth Switch Module by Using GaAs PH Diode (GaAs PIN Diode를 이용한 3:1 대역폭 스위치 모듈)

  • Absorptive type SP3T(Single Pole Three Throw) and SP8T switch modules over the 6-18 GHz are designed and fabricated. The epitaxial structure of GaAs PIN diode for switch modules are designed for low loss and high power capability. The maximum input power of SP3T and SP8T switch modules are 2 W and 1 W, respectively. The switching time with driver circuit is less than 130 nsec. The maximum insertion loss of SP3T switch module and SP8T module shows 2.8 dB and 4.2 dB, respectively. The isolation between input port and output port is more than 55 dB. Two switch modules for electronic warfare system have passed the environment tests of the related test items.

  • This paper deals with a single crystalline silicon (SCS) RF MEMS switch for telecommunication system applications. The proposed SCS switch was fabricated using a silicon-on-glass (SiOG) process and its performances in terms of RF responses, switching time, lifetime were characterized. The proposed SCS switch consists of movable plates, mechanical spring structures, which are composed of robust SCS, resulting in mechanically good stability, The measured actuation voltage was 30 V, and with this applied voltage, the insertion loss and isolation characteristics were measured to be 0.05 and 44.6 dB at 2 GHz respectively. The measured switch ON and OFF time were 13 and $9{\mu}s$, respectively. The lifetime of the fabricated switch was tested. Even after over 1 billion cycles repeated ON/OFF actuations, the switch maintained its own characteristics.
