The Mediating Effect of Learning Agility in the Relationship between Issue Leadership and Innovative Behavior (이슈 리더십이 혁신 행동에 미치는 영향 연구 : 학습 민첩성의 매개효과)

  • This study was conducted focusing on the innovative behavior necessary for the long-term survival of an organization in a business environment in which uncertainty and complexity are increasing. To this end, the relationship between issue leadership and innovative behavior of organizational members was investigated from the perspective of Signaling theory, Path-Goal theory and Job Demands-Resources theory. In addition, the mediating role of learning agility and sub-components of learning agility was empirically analyzed. For empirical analysis, a survey was conducted with a total of 252 team leaders and team members working in multinational companies (142 in Korea, 110 in the US). The results of this study are as follows. Issue leadership was analyzed to have a positive (+) effect on the innovative behavior of employees. Learning agility was found to play a mediating role between issue leadership and innovative behavior. On the other hand, the mediating effect was tested for each of the sub-components of learning agility, such as feedback seeking, information seeking, reflecting, experimenting, agility. As a result, all five sub-components were found to play a mediating role between issue leadership and innovative behavior. In particular, it was analyzed that the mediating effect of agility was the largest. Next, information seeking appeared to be large. Although there are some studies that have identified the mediating role of learning agility between issue leadership and innovative behavior, this study is considered to have academic implication as there are few cases of subdivided study. At the practical level, it is expected to provide implications for where to focus more when trying to improve an organization's learning agility and innovation behavior

  • The scope and the magnitude of change that are occurring in libraries today are exciting and the new developments in information technology challenging. A change in vision as well as activities and operations is required. Librarians need to make full use of information and multimedia technology to support this greatly expanded teaching venture. During the period of the 1st to 5th conference of Korean Society for Information Management produces 199 articles. The articles composed of 25 sub subjects of the knowledge of the library and information science. Some of the interesting sub-subjects were as follows: Information retrieval, Indexing, Classification, Library management, Information service, Cataloging and Digital library. The professional librarians pointed out the essential curricula of the library and informations science education. De novo transcriptome sequencing and gene expression profiling with/without B-chromosome plants of Lilium amabile

  • Supernumerary B chromosomes were found in Lilium amabile (2n = 2x = 24), an endemic Korean lily that grows in the wild throughout the Korean Peninsula. The extra B chromosomes do not affect the host-plant morphology; therefore, whole transcriptome analysis was performed in 0B and 1B plants to identify differentially expressed genes. A total of 154,810 transcripts were obtained from over 10 Gbp data by de novo assembly. By mapping the raw reads to the de novo transcripts, we identified 7,852 differentially expressed genes (log2FC > |10|), in which 4,059 and 3,794 were up-and down-regulated, respectively, in 1B plants compared to 0B plants. Functional enrichment analysis revealed that various differentially expressed genes were involved in cellular processes including the cell cycle, chromosome breakage and repair, and microtubule formation; all of which may be related to the occurrence and maintenance of B chromosomes. Our data provide insight into transcriptomic changes and evolution of plant B chromosomes and deliver an informative database for future study of B chromosome transcriptomes in the Korean lily.

Affecting Factors of Hospital Nurses' Emotional Labor and Social Support on Organizational Commitment (병원간호사의 감정노동과 사회적 지지가 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The study is to identify a correlation among hospital nurses' emotional labor, social support and organizational commitment and to analyze the effects on organizational commitment. Methods: The participants are 300 nurses working at two general hospitals located in Gyeonggi-do, who agreed to join the study. Data collection were done from July to September in 2014. The collected data are analyzed a descriptive statistic, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression and SPSS/WIN 15.0 Program was used in the process. Results: Organizational commitment was negatively correlated with emotional works but it was positively correlated with social support. The factors affecting organizational commitment were informational support and evaluative support which were sub-domain of social support as well as level of emotional expression which was a sub-domain of emotional works, their positions and level of education. Conclusion: To increase the level of an organizational commitment, a method of coping in difficult situations and information relating to private assessments is recommended. Also, the organization should prepare a plan that members can properly manage their emotions face-to-face with clients.

Comparative Analysis of SOx Emission-Compliant Options for Marine Vessels from Environmental Perspective

  • With growing concerns over air pollutions attributed to shipping activities, the international maritime organization has enacted a series of stringent regulations. In particular, MARPOL Annex IV Reg. 16 requires sulfur contents from exhaust gases of marine engines to be progressively reduced. To comply with this regulation, three feasible options have been introduced: using LNG as a marine fuel, using heavy fuel oil with the scrubber system, and using the marine gas oil (a type of low sulfur fuel oil). For the objectives of this paper, the holistic environmental impacts pertinent to these options were investigated and compared in ways that the flows of energy and emission were tracked and quantified through the life cycle of the ship. Research findings obtained from a case study with a large bulk carrier showed that the use of the scrubber system to purify heavy fuel oil would produce relatively fewer amounts of emissions attributing to global warming than other two options. On the other than, the use of LNG would be the way to operate the ship in a cleaner way in terms of reducing the acidification, eutrophication, and photochemical effects. Throughout the analysis, the excellence of life cycle assessment was proven to shift the environmental impact of marine systems from the short-term view to the long-term one.

Interaction of NpO+2 with Cl- in Na-Ca-Cl-type solutions at ionic strength of 6M: Effect of presence of Ca ion on interaction

  • The interaction of $NpO^+_2$ with $Cl^-$ was studied using visible-near-infrared spectroscopy in $NaCl-Ca-Cl_2-NaClO_4$, $NaCl-NaClO_4$, and $CaCl_2-NaClO_4$ solutions with ionic strength (I) of 6M. The spectra of $NpO^+_2$ around 980 nm varied with $Cl^-$ concentration in the $NaCl-CaCl_2-NaClO_4$ and $NaCl-NaClO_4$ solutions at [$Cl^-$] ${\geq}3.5M$, but not in the $CaCl_2-NaClO_4$ solution. Assuming the 1:1 interaction between $NpO^+_2$ and $Cl^-$, the apparent equilibrium constants at I = 6M were evaluated. The presence of $Ca^{2+}$ was found to destabilize overall interaction between $NpO^+_2$ and $Cl^-$. The observations were consistent with the density functional theory calculation.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the current status and suggest tasks of future directions for development of the Korean Society of Sport Biomechanics(KSSB). KSSB was established in the 22th of Oct.,1988. It is one of the great National Society recognized by the Korean Research Foundation, and consists of almost 350 members over national Sport Biomechanists. Two roles-functions of KSSB are as follows; one is an Independent Society by KSSB, the other is a sub-Society under Korean Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance(KAHPERD) run by 15 sub-Societies. The 2 great strategies toward all over the world of KSSB were Localization and Globalization. The grand four projects of KSSB in $2005{\sim}2006yrs$ are as followers: 1) The rationalization of organization-operating and decentralization, 2) The international levels of society, 3) The internationalizaton of quality of Korean Journal of Sport Biomechanics, and 4) The presentation award by quarterly and double-movements of members of KSSB. The tasks of future direction for development of KSSB are as followers : The localization and globalization of KSSB( see above as figure 4, table 12, 13, 14).

  • The implementation of an place-based rural policy requires changes in the intra-governmental relations and between the public and private sectors and civil society. Over the past decades, Japan has been increasingly devolving and decentralizing public responsibilities and resources to sub-national government levels. There is assumption that such transfers produce more efficiency in terms of public management and create better conditions for economic development. At the same time, these transfer respond to new expectations of citizens and civil society to participate more closely in the democratic decision-making process. Coordination is also needed at the local level to integrate sectoral approaches, to involve private partners and to achieve the appropriate geographic scale. Local public and private actors join a partnership and pool knowledge and resources. This type of local partnership is characterized by the participation of different actors, including municipalities, sub-regional government institution and development agencies. The participation of private actors(private firms, cooperatives, associations, non-profit organizations, farm organizations, other categories organizations, etc,) is also important.

A Meta-Analysis of the Correlation Effects between Coaching Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness (코칭리더십과 조직유효성과의 상관관계에 관한 메타분석)

  • Lots of the studies about the relationship between coaching leadership and organizational effectiveness have been conducted and reported that coaching leadership is one of the main factors which impact organizational effectiveness. The purpose of this study was to synthesize the relationship between coaching leadership and organizational effectiveness. For that purpose, 32 correlation effect sizes from 25 studies were analyzed by the CMA (Comprehensive Meta-analysis) Program. The study calculated the overall effect size of the relationship between coaching leadership and organizational effectiveness. Then, it also calculated the effect size of the relationship between coaching leadership and each sub-variable of organizational effectiveness. The analysis results are as follows: First, the overall effect size about the relationship between coaching leadership and organizational effectiveness was .519, which means that coaching leadership has over lager relationship with organizational effectiveness. In addition, the effect sizes of sub-variables of the organization are .556 (organizational commitment) .542 (job satisfaction), 509 (organizational citizen behavior), and .401 (innovative behavior). The study tested the mediating effects of measurements, organizational size, types of publication, and published year. The result showed that only the measurement made significant differences among effect sizes of studies.

Bio-guided Isolation of Natural Iron Chelators from Mangifera indica Leaves and their Comparative Study to Desferal®

  • Through bio-guided isolation, two natural iron chelators were isolated from Mangifera indica L. leaves, identified as mangiferin (1) and iriflophenone-3-C-𝛽-D-glucoside (2). Their iron-chelating activity was compared to that of Desferal® using bipyridyl assay and EDTA as a standard. Mangiferin showed the highest activity with IC50 value of 0.385 mM (162.85 ㎍/mL). Furthermore, two combinations of mangiferin with Desferal® (M-D) and iriflophenone-3-C-𝛽-D-glucoside (M-I) were evaluated. The results showed that mangiferin potentiated the iron chelation activity of Desferal® about 46%, also that M-I combination is a promising candidate formula for iron chelation therapy. In addition, mangiferin and Desferal-iron complexes were prepared and characterized by IR, UV, and Mass spectra to compare their mode of chelation to iron. Their structural stability was studied by DFT calculations. Furthermore, they displayed increased ABTS antioxidant activity when bound to iron as compared to their free form, which enhances their pharmacological importance.
