초등 과학 수업에서 '반응적 교수'의 실현 가능성 탐색 (An Exploration of the Possibility of Implementing 'Responsive Teaching' (RT) in Elementary Science Classrooms)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the possibility of implementing 'responsive teaching (RT)' in elementary school science classrooms. A review of relevant literature yielded a tentative framework of RT which consisted of three characteristics of RT and example practices for each characteristic. The RT framework was used to analyze elementary science lessons on the topic of the transpiration in plant leaves. The data sources were audio recordings of three $5^{th}$ grade classrooms which included both the whole-class instruction and student group activities. The data were examined through collaboration between the teacher who had taught the lessons and a university-based science education researcher. It was revealed that the implementation of RT was limited when the teacher's intervention was focused on completing tasks; when it was out of the contexts of student activities; when the teacher provided earlier what students were supposed to find out by themselves; and when the teacher's comments were evaluation-centered. By contrast, the implementation of RT was made highly possible when the teacher's intervention induced an intellectual debate among students; when the teacher negotiated meanings with students; when the teacher connected what students shared to scientific knowledge; and when the teacher prompted students to solve a new problem. Implications about implementing and studying RT were discussed.

An Application of Problem Based Learning to an Earth Science Course in Higher Education

  • Problem Based Learning (PBL) is one of methods which has been developed to promote student-centered learning and to pursue self-directed learning for life-long learning. The purpose of this study is exploring the possibility of Problem Based Learning (PBL) in college Earth science course. The participants of this study were fourteen students attending an Earth science class at Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul. PBL was implemented in the form of group project with utilizing Web-based course tool. We provided questionnaires and conducted interviews to figure out students' perception about PBL. The findings were as follows: Through a given experiences, (1) students participated more actively than LBL (Lecture Based Learning), (2) more students were engaged with self-directed learning, and (3) students made higher cognitive efforts. LBL seemed to be more efficient way to acquire factual knowledge. In the meanwhile, PBL did not seem to affect the improvement of communication skills. Students could not make use of Web-based course tool effectively in communicating with other team members. In this study, we found that college student participants preferred problems related to everyday life, environmental issues and interesting but unusual incidents. On the other hand, they felt difficult in open-ended problems, especially when they were asked to provide their own evaluation. On the basis of PBL experiment in this paper, we present one method of successful implementation of PBL and suggest topics which should be studied in the future.

  • 최근 소프트웨어 교육의 필요성에 대한 공감대 형성에 따라 대학에서도 소프트웨어 교육이 의무화되었으나 학습자 관점에서의 콘텐츠 적합성 및 만족도는 여전히 논의가 필요한 문제이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 인문계열 학생 대상 SW 교과에서 활용하는 콘텐츠의 학습자 관점 적합성을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 '컴퓨터 과학', '도구의 활용과 디지털 시대의 인문학' 및 '컴퓨팅 사고'를 중심 주제로 구성된 세 가지 유형의 교과과정을 강의 평가 설문을 활용해 비교하였다. 분석결과, 학습자들은 컴퓨터 과학과 같은 이론적인 접근보다는 도구의 활용이나 인문학 측면에서의 접근, 혹은 사고력을 중심으로 한 교과과정을 더 긍정적으로 평가하였다. 또한, 컴퓨터 과학 관련 주제에 대해서는 생소함과 거부감 등으로 인해 만족도가 높지 않았고, 도구 중심 교육은 학문적 가치를 낮게 평가하였으며, 토론 중심의 사고 역량 개발 교육에서는 피로감을 표현하였다.

  • 본 연구는 초등학교 학생들을 대상으로 반응 중심 학습법을 통한 동기유발이 체육수업 전 후의 참여태도에 미치는 영향과 변화를 분석하여 체육수업의 실제를 파악할 수 있는 관점을 제공하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구의 대상은 C지역 소재 N초등학교 5, 6학년 126명의 학생을 학급과 성별 구분 없이 선정하였으며, 탐색적 요인분석과 요인 간 유사성을 알아보기 위한 적률상관계수를 적용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구결과에서 제시된 것과 같이 일방적인 주입식 교육이 아닌 학생들을 중심으로 한 교육으로 추진해 나가는 것이 필요하며 학생들이 적극적이고 활발한 체육수업 참여에 기여할 수 있도록 수업 전 후의 학습요인을 고려하여 융합적으로 적용하는 것이 중요하다.

A Case Study of English Teacher Development through Online Supervision

  • Little has been known about the process of the language teacher professional development. The present study aims to investigate an assumption that anybody who has subject matter knowledge will be a good language teacher. A teacher with rich linguistic knowledge started to question the effectiveness of his online class. The teacher, in collaboration with a teacher trainer, became involved in the critical examination of his online class, seeking for more effective ways of teaching. The trainer provided the teacher with clinical supervision, which is characterized as developmental, collaborative, non-judgemental, interactive, and teacher-centered. The data collected at the multi-facets of the online teaching shows how the process of the teacher's decision-making became principled on the basis of recent developments in English language teaching, and how the teacher has gained pedagogical knowledge through reflection upon his teaching. The feedback from the students reveals that such teacher professional development is beneficial to student learning. These findings suggest that language teacher's professional development can take place when they are engaged in reflective teaching and classroom investigation. It is also suggested that the process of teacher development can be enhanced through collaborative supervision with trust, openness and congeniality between parties involved.

부산지역 중등교사의 현직교육 요구 분석 (In-service Education Needs Analysis of secondary school Teachers in Busan City)

  • To reveal secondary teachers' in-service education needs, in-depth interviews were conducted with 15 individual teachers based on semi-structured questions and qualitative data analysis procedures were adopted. They wanted to have; a. more knowledge of one's subject, subject related information, culture and common sense, counseling psychology, foreign language, and the 7th curriculum, b. better skills of student-centered teaching-learning methods, guidance and class management, good use of computers, and educational evaluation, c. improved attitudes regarding democratic problem solution processes, conversation with and service to students from their viewpoints, commitment to preparations for teaching, educational innovation and improvement, elimination of improperness, and pride of teaching job.

사례기반학습법을 적용한 기계공학 교과목 설계: 라미네이터 장비 제작 (Course Design for Mechanical Engineering Applying Case-Based Learning: Manufacturing of Laminator Machine)

  • In the associate degree curriculum of the department of mechanical engineering, the results of the study are presented on the structure and content of a subject based on the case-based learning method. As an case, equipment called a laminator that is actually used in the manufacturing site was selected. Class deals with specific engineering issues at each stage of laminator manufacturing (design-machining-assembly-measurement-maintenance) in connection with general engineering topics in prerequisites in the curriculum. Topics include tolerance fit, length measurement, assembly practice, measurement design and statistics of machine maintenance, etc. Courses that apply the case-based learning method may be included in the curriculum as complementary roles to those that apply other student-centered learning method.

고등학생의 바느질실습 수업에 대한 인식 및 요구 분석 (Analysis on Perceptions and Needs of High School Students Regarding the Sewing Practice Class)

  • 본 연구는 고등학교 1학년 학생 185명을 대상으로 바느질실습 수업에 대한 인식과 요구를 조사하기 위해 실시되었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들은 바느질실습 수업의 목표를 일상생활에서의 활용으로 가장 많이 인식하고 있었다. 학생들의 바느질실습 수업에 대한 인식은 보통으로 나타났으며 하위요인 중 참여도 점수가 가장 높은 반면 이해도 점수는 가장 낮았으며 활용도는 남녀 점수차가 가장 큰 것으로 나타났다. 활용도 및 수업방법 만족도를 제외한 수업 인식 하위요인과 전체에서 성별에 따른 유의한 차이를 보여 여학생이 남학생보다 수업 인식이 긍정적임을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 바느질실습 수업에 대한 학생들의 요구를 살펴본 결과 실습내용과 관련하여 학생들은 만들기 영역, 본인들이 선정하기, 개별작품 만들기를 선호하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 교수·학습별 선호하는 수업 방식을 조사한 결과 기술 및 지식의 습득에서는 교사중심수업 방식을, 아이디어 구상 및 교사 역할에서는 학생중심수업 방식을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 수업운영과 관련하여 학생들은 학기당 4~6차시 수업, 모든 차시 50분씩 편성, 모둠 구성 안함 등을 선호하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이상의 연구결과를 가정과 교사가 바느질실습 수업을 설계하는 데 활용한다면 수업 개선 및 학생들의 인식 변화에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것이다.

예비 과학 교사의 실시간 온라인 수업 설계 사례 분석 (An Analysis of Cases of Real-time Online Class Design by Pre-service Science Teachers)

  • 본 연구는 예비 과학 교사가 설계한 온라인 수업 사례를 분석하여 예비 과학 교사가 온라인 수업을 위해 사용하는 교수전략을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한 학기 동안 온라인 수업 도구 활용 교육을 경험한 12명의 예비 과학 교사가 작성한 실시간 온라인 수업 교수학습과정안을 수집하여 분석하였다. 예비 과학 교사는 기존의 대면 수업 설계 시 필수적으로 고려하였던 선수학습 확인, 학습목표 제시, 학습동기 유발, 교수학습방법, 학습내용 정리, 교사-학생 상호작용, 학생 평가 등의 요소를 모두 고려하였으며, 이들 각 요소에서 온라인 수업의 한계를 극복하고 대면 수업에서 불가능했던 교수전략을 고안하였다. 또한 예비 과학 교사는 온라인 수업 도구를 원활하게 사용할 수 있는 환경 구축과 관련된 온라인 수업 환경 점검 관련 교수전략까지 고려하고 있었다. 다만 학습목표 제시, 학습동기 유발, 학습내용 정리는 대부분의 예비 과학 교사가 시청각 자료 제시 방식의 온라인 수업 도구를 활용한 기존의 대면 수업의 교수전략을 주로 활용하고 있으며, 학습동기 유발과 학습내용 정리에서 학생 중심의 접근의 교수전략을 매우 드물게 구현하였다. 이러한 결과는 한 학기 동안의 온라인 수업 도구 활용 교육은 부족하며, 예비 교사 교육에서 온라인 수업 도구 활용 교육의 지속적인 운영과 확대가 필요함을 시사한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out practical teaching material about$\boxdr$Cloth$\boxul$part of home economics course in highschool and prove it's effect on learning as the result of applying to teaching and learning activities. The objects of this study were 144 first grade students of Puyo girl's high school located in Puyo county of Chung-nam province. They were identified to have the same quality through such inspections as intelligence quotient and previous scholastic ability test. Experiment group is composed of 72 students of two class in first grade and those students utilized swatch. Controlled group is also made up of 72 students like experiment group and they didn't use swatch. The procedure of this study was as follows : First we collected the real clothing material which was necessary in $\boxdr$Cloth$\boxul$part of high school home economics and made teaching plan that could be used to make use of swatch. In this study. we first seek the averages and variations to know how much is the influence of using real things as the studying materials on the class. Then we verified the level of attention to compare and the level of student's schoolwork accomplishment. interest and attitude between experiment group that used the swatch and controlled group who didn't use those material. The result of this study are as follow : 1) After using swatch. students'attitude toward receiving information was getting better. 2) Students'interest toward$\boxdr$Cloth$\boxul$part was getting higher. 3) Scholastic accomplishment of experimental group became higher than that of controlled group.
