Statistical analyses used in clinical articles published on the Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society were identified and appropriateness of statistical aspects in reporting results was assessed. Forty seven clinical articles were selected in this study, which were published from February, 2005 to February, 2006 on the journal. The frequency of statistical analysis was as follows : descriptive statistics only 24 [51.1%]. one type of statistical method 10 [21.3%], two or more methods 13 [27.6%]. An assessment of statistical aspects was performed in 24 clinical articles reporting inferential statistics. Ten articles [41.7%] did not adequately describe or reference all statistical methods used. There were six articles [25.0%] not reporting the confidence level used as the critical criteria of the statistical significance. In thirteen articles [54.2%] it seems more appropriate to implement multivariate analyses in addition to univariate analyses. We recommend that the journal readers should concentrate on improving their knowledge of basic statistics and statistical review for manuscripts submitted should be sought from professionals in the fields of biostatistics and epidemiology.

Objectives : This study was to investigate statistical validities and trends of previously reported papers that used various statistical techniques such as t-test and analysis of variance. Methods : To analyze the statistical procedures, 54 original articles using those statistical methods were selected from The Korean Journal of Acupuncture published from 2007 to 2011. Results : T-test and analysis of variance were used in 23(25.27%), and 18 papers(19.78%) out of 54 papers, respectively. Seven articles(12.96%) did not report alpha values and 26(48.15%) out of 54 studies were not tested for normal distribution. One paper(1.85%) misused t-test and 7 papers(38.89%) did not carry out the multiple comparison. Conclusions : To improve the quality of KJA, statistician involvement in research design would be necessary to reduce errors in statistical methods and interpretation of the results.

Analogous to Singh's (1978) characterization of positive-Poisson distributioin and Shanmugam and Singh's (1992) characterization of logarithmic series distribution, a characterization and its statistical application of the negative binomial distribution truncated at zero are given in this paper. While it is known that under certain conditions the negative binomial distribution truncted at zero approaches the positive-Poisson and the logarithmic series distributions, we show here that the results of this paper approach in limit the results of Singh, and Shanmugam and Singh, respectively. Using the biologicla data from Sampford (1955), we illusrate our results. Also, expressions are explicitly given to test the hypothesis whether a random sample is indeed from a geometric distribution.

본 연구는 2015 개정 수학과 교육과정에 따른 <확률과 통계> 교과서의 통계적 추정 단원에서, 통계적 문제해결과정과 함께 통계적 소양이 어떻게 구현되는가를 분석하였다. 문헌 연구를 통해 통계적 소양의 성장에 기여하는 요소로서 '맥락', '변이성', '수학적·통계적 지식', '공학 도구의 활용', '비판적 태도', '의사소통'을 도출하여 통계적 문제해결과정에 따른 분석 관점을 설정하고, 이를 코드화하여 개발한 분석틀을 토대로 교과서 분석을 실시하였다. 통계적 문제해결과정의 관점에서 분석결과 '자료 분석'에 해당하는 과제가 많이 제시되어 있었고 '결과 해석', '문제 설정'과 관련한 과제가 부족하였다. 통계적 소양의 요소별 반영에 관한 분석 결과 '수학적·통계적 지식'을 요구하는 과제가 가장 많았으며, '비판적 태도', '공학 도구 활용'은 거의 다루어지지 않고 있었다. 이러한 교과서 분석결과를 바탕으로 통계적 소양의 함양 교육을 위한 교육과정 개선 및 교과서 개발에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

본 연구는 중등수학교사와 일반인의 여론조사 결과에 대한 이해수준을 바탕으로 그들의 통계적 소양을 알아보기 위한 것으로, 이를 위해 중등수학교사 20명과 일반인 20명을 연구참여자로 하여 반구조화된 면담을 실시하고 여기서 얻은 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 여론조사 결과에 포함되는 통계 용어 및 표현의 의미를 정확히 이해하고 있는 중등수학교사와 일반인이 드물었다. 둘째, 연구참여자의 70%가 통계적 소양 수준이 3, 4수준에 이르지 못하고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 셋째, 중등수학교사의 통계적 소양 수준이 일반인에 비해 상대적으로 높게 나타났다.

To perform the Maritime Safety Audi Scheme, $10^{-4}$ was constantly applied without adjustment when evaluating the proximity of the fairway. The necessity of applying the different aberrancy probabilities from the different proximity of the fairway depending on the shape of the route and the size of the ship was validated using marine simulations. Marine simulation was performed to evaluate the validity of statistical analysis-based aberrancy probability according to the different shapes of routes and ship size presented in the previous study. As results, the validity of the criterion of the statistical analysis-based aberrancy probability was confirmed by comparing with the results of simulation-based aberrancy probabilities. The results support that the aberrancy probabilities by the types of a vessel could be different based on the type and size of vessels. The results motivate that further investigation is required to find the reasonable criteria of the aberrancy probabilities for the maritime traffic safety audit according to the fairway shape and the size of the vessel.

This paper is concerned with statistical methods for multivariate data when the number p of variables is large compared to the sample size n. Such data appear typically in analysis of DNA microarrays, curve data, financial data, etc. However, there is little statistical theory for high dimensional data. On the other hand, there are some asymptotic results under the assumption that both and p tend to $\infty$, in some ratio p/n ${\rightarrow}$c. The results suggest that the new asymptotic results are more useful and insightful than the classical large sample asymptotics. The main purpose of this paper is to review some asymptotic results for high dimensional statistics as well as classical statistics under a high dimensional asymptotic framework.

In this paper, we survey various notions and results related to statistical convergence of a sequence of fuzzy numbers, in which statistical convergence for fuzzy numbers was first introduced by Nuray and Savas in 1995. We will go over boundedness, convergence of sequences of fuzzy numbers, statistically convergence and statistically Cauchy sequences of fuzzy numbers, statistical limit and cluster point for sequences of fuzzy numbers, statistical mono-tonicity and boundedness of a sequence of fuzzy numbers and finally statistical limit inferior and limit inferior for the statistically bounded sequences of fuzzy numbers.

In this paper, we introduce rough statistical convergence of difference double sequences in normed linear spaces as an extension of rough convergence. We define the set of rough statistical limit points of a difference double sequence and analyze the results with proofs.

In the present paper, we introduce some new notions of Wijsman ${\mathcal{I}}$-statistical convergence with the use of Orlicz function, lacunary sequence and triple sequences of sets, and obtain some analogous results from the new definitions point of views.
