This study was conducted to develop and apply clinical nursing practice training simulation program using Standardized Patient for Nursing Students focused on infectious respiratory disease. This study is descriptive methodological study. Through prior consideration of documents and educational task of infectious respiratory disease was conducted with interview of clinical specialists of infection control managers. Development of educational task for infectious respiratory disease for Nursing Students went through the content validity. Finally, 10 educational tasks are developed 'knowledge of respiratory infections disease', 'hand washing', 'put on mask', 'lead to put on mask to patients and caregiver', 'intravenous injection via 3way', 'surgical aseptic technique', 'sterilization medical instrument', 'management of contaminated linen', 'infected personnel management manual'. The infectious respiratory disease simulation program was developed based on the ADDIE model and proceeded to 4 steps of analysis, design, development, implementation. The infection control education program included lectures (20 min), skill training (20 min), simulation using standardized patient (20 min), and debriefing (40 min), The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics with SPSS program for version 23.0. The results of this study confirmed that the clinical nursing practice training simulation program using standardized patients was effective in infectious respiratory disease of the nursing college students in knowledge of infectious respiratory disease and clinical nursing performance. we found this practical training program for nursing college students to improve knowledge and clinical competency of infection control. we expected that this developed program could be applied to practical training for various infectious control.

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a standardized patients managed instruction program for a fundamentals of nursing. The standardized patients managed instruction was evaluated by using a quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group posttest design with two separate classes of sophomore students attending fundamentals of nursing classes at one baccaleureate nursing school in Korea. Control group was taught by traditional lecture/model instruction and experimental group was taught by standardized patient managed instruction. Data were collected from December, 1999 to July, 2000 using checklist developed by researcher on following areas; clinical nursing performance, communication skills, and learning motivation. There were 36 students in the experimental group and 40 students in the control group. Data analysis was done using SPSS WINDOW. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. Clinical nursing performances were evaluated by change position, back care and hot bag apply. The total score was statistically significant higher in the experimental group than the control group(t=3.325, p=.000). Thus hypothesis 1 was supported. 2. Communication skill was evaluated by professional attitude and ability to explain to patients. There was a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group (t=4.232, p=.000). Thus hypothesis 2 was supported. 3. Learning motivation was evaluated by self-reported questionnaires. There was statistically a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group(t=3.024, p=.004). Thus hypothesis 3 was supported. In conclusion, this study suggests that standardized patients managed instruction is an effective learning method to nursing students. By utilizing a standardized patient managed instruction, learning can proceed in a more relaxed environment and reduce the risks to patients because student inexperience are avoided. It is recommended to develop more standardized patients cases for wider areas of nursing educational and evaluate the program with more students using logitudinal method.

Objectives : This study compares clinical practice students' perception of Clinical Performance Examination (CPX) in a College of Korean Medicine using actors as Actor Standardized Patient (ASP) and enrolled students as Student Standardized Patient (SSP). Methods : Targeting the clinical practice students who completed the clinical practice education in the first semester of the fourth year in the Department of Korean Medicine, a survey was conducted on total six categories such as satisfaction with CPX using ASP and SSP, prior knowledge about clinical practice education, self-evaluation, difficulties in the process of performing the CPX, satisfaction with ASP/SSP, and familiarity with them. Results : In the results of the survey, the mean score of CPX program using SSP was higher than that of CPX program using ASP in every area. Among them, in the satisfaction with CPX itself and prior knowledge about various clinical practice education, the mean score of CPX program using SSP was statistically significantly higher than that of CPX program using ASP. Conclusions : Overall, the clinical practice students' satisfaction with CPX program using SSP was higher than that of CPX using ASP, and statistically significantly higher in some areas.

The use of holographic standardized patient (HSP) with mixed reality can provide students with the opportunity to enhance clinical reasoning skills. This is still relatively new, so there is a lack of guidelines for educators. Thus, we aimed to develop the instructional model of HSP-based education, for enhancing clinical reasoning skills in undergraduate healthcare education, which could systematically guide educators in designing and implementing HSP-based teaching and learning activities appropriately. Using a design and development research, a theoretically constructed initial mode in this study was iteratively improved and underwent validation through expert review and model usability test. Features of the model were discussed, along with theoretical and practical implications and suggestions for further research.
Purposes: This study purposed to analyze the relationship between patient safety and patient-centerendess. Methodology: The comprehensive scores from patient safety assessment program and patient experience survey conducted by Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service were used as independent variables and dependent variables. This study analyzed the relationship between 4 patient safety-related areas(i.e. risk standardized readmission ratio, intensive care unit, preventive antibiotic, the drug evaluation) and 6 patient experience areas(i.e. nurse services, doctor services, medication & treatment, hospital environment, patient's right, overall experience) by using robust regression analysis. Findings: According to results, the score in 'patient's right' and 'risk standardized readmission ratio' areas were found to have a significant relationship, and 'overall experience' and the 'preventive antibiotic' areas. The ratio of senior beds and specialists was a general characteristics of hospitals that had a significant relationship on patient experience assessment. Practical Implication: The relationships between patient safety and patient experience assessment were varied depending on areas. Further study is needed to make clear the supposed relationship.
The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of simulation based education using standardized patient for contact precaution infection control for nursing student. This study was conducted by including 67 nursing student A university from October to December 2019. This study was mixed method research design. Knowledge and performance confidence related to multidrug resistant organism(MDRO) infection control were measured using questionnaires pre and post test, analyzed using paired t-test and reflection sheet was analyzed using content analysis method. After intervention, two variables were increased significantly. Results of the content analysis showed there were 39 significant statements, which were classified into 13 categories. These results suggest that education on simulation program using standardized patient for contact precaution infection control is effective strategy to enhance knowledge and performance confidence related to MDRO infection control and practical nursing infection control skill, patient centered care, interprofessional collaboration.

Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the level of agreement between a standardized patient (SP) and a faculty member in the evaluation of nursing students' assessment and communication skills. Methods: Participants were 51 third year nursing students in a simulation practice of 'nursing care for a patient admitted with chest pain'. Using a 30-item checklist and a 16-item communication tool, a SP and faculty member evaluated the students' assessment and communication skills during the simulation. Results: The average values for percent agreement and kappa statistic for nursing assessment between the two evaluators were 85.3% and .48 respectively. Twenty of thirty items evaluating assessment skill had above moderate agreement (${\geq}.41$) by kappa between the evaluators. Seven of sixteen items evaluating communication and interpersonal skills showed above fair agreement (${\geq}.40$) between the two evaluators, which was measured by intraclass correlation coefficient. Conclusion: The findings show that the evaluation of the SP was consistent with those of the faculty member to a moderate degree. Clear guidelines for evaluating criteria and optimal time and effort for SP training are necessary to increase the reliability of standardized patients as evaluators in simulation-based nursing education.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a nursing education program for hyperglycemia patient care using standardized patients. Methods: This study used a nonequivalent control group pre-test and post-test non-synchronized design. A total of 50 senior university nursing students who had completed an adult nursing course participated in this study (experimental group, n=24; control group, n=26). This nursing education program was developed according to the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The collected data were analyzed using χ2 -test, Fisher's exact test, independent t-test, paired t-test, and repeated measure ANOVA. Results: Significant differences were shown between the experimental and control groups in clinical performance ability (F=277.41, p<.001), communication skills (F=47.18, p<.001), self-efficacy (F=3.81, p=.031), and learning satisfaction (t=2.25, p=.033). Problem-solving ability was not statistically significant between the groups. Conclusion: The nursing education program for hyperglycemia patient care using standardized patients was effective in improving nursing students' clinical performance ability, communication skills, and learning satisfaction. Therefore, it is proposed that the education program developed in this study be used as part of an education program to enhance nursing students' abilities in caring for hyperglycemia patients.

The main purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the standardized patient method in teaching catherization skills, communication skills and students' learning motivation in undergraduate nursing students. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a non-equivalent control group post-test design. Data were collected over 2 years from August 2000 to September 2001 with 75 sophomore student nurses in one baccaleureate program. The results are summarized as follows ; The scores in catheterization skills and communication skills were statistically significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group. Learning motivation score were also statistically significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group. In conclusion, this study suggests that a standardized patients managed instruction which emphasize authenticity and contex-tualization is very effective in teaching nursing students, the mastery and application of nursing skills, and the utilizing therapeutic communication skills. It is recommended that more standardized patients cases be developed for wider areas of nursing education and this study be replicated with more students using a longitudinal design.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship among clinical competence of diabetic diet education on standardized patients, self-efficacy, communication skill, learning satisfaction, and professional values of nursing students. Methods: The present study was a descriptive research. The participants were 144 junior nursing students in a university. The clinical competence on diabetic diet education was assessed by trained evaluators when nursing students performed diabetic diet education using the standardized patients. The students' self-efficacy, communication skill, professional values, and learning satisfaction were measured by themselves using the questionnaires. Results: The clinical competence on diabetic diet education showed positive correlations with communication skill and learning satisfaction, while the competence was not correlated to self-efficacy and professional values. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that clinical competence on diabetic diet education may be more related to communication skills and learning satisfaction than self-efficacy and professional values. Promoting communication skills and learning satisfaction using a standardized patient may increase nursing students' competence on diabetic diet education.
