Attitudes toward Social Values and Economic Values of Social Enterprise Workers (사회적기업 근로자의 사회적 가치와 경제적 가치에 대한 태도)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify employees' perception of social and economic values that social enterprises pursue and to provide implications for the training of social enterprise workers. The main results are as follows. First, more than half of the social enterprise workers recognized that economic value and social value were equally important. In addition, the responsibilities of realizing corporate social values were somewhat higher than those of employees. The social value of the social enterprise should be pursued in preference to the value for the company and its members. However, efforts to set goals for the social value of social enterprises were lacking. Second, social enterprise workers generally had a high perception of economic value and recognized that the responsibility and effort of management was more important than the employees in order to realize economic value. Third, the higher the age of workers, the higher the importance of social value than economic value, emphasized the responsibility of the manager, and the less the work experience, the more important is the social value and the manager's responsibility. While commercial enterprise workers are highly aware of the importance of economic value, non-profit enterprise workers are highly aware of the importance of social value. In the future, it will be necessary to provide an educational support program that allows workers to recognize the social and economic value of social enterprises in a balanced manner. Efforts are needed to develop, monitor and monitor standardized measures for measuring the value of social enterprises.

Consumer Reactions to Products of Social Enterprises: An Application of the Stereotype Content Model

  • Social enterprises that seek to pursue socially desirable goals through economic profits have received considerable attention in recent years. Despite the widespread attention paid to social enterprises, they often achieve limited success in markets. This research examines how types of enterprises affect consumer judgments. This research considers two types of enterprises: social and for-profit enterprises. Building on the stereotype content model, we propose that consumers perceive social enterprises using the dimensions of warmth and competence. Study 1 shows that a product of a for-profit enterprise is judged as having higher performance, but being less meaningful; in contrast, a product of a social enterprise is judged as warmer, but less competent. Further, in Study 2, we demonstrate that consumers' willingness to buy products can be lowered when the products are offered by a social enterprise. Practical and theoretical implications are further discussed.

  • After the Enactment of Support of Social Enterprise in 2007, Cultivation of Social Enterprises has been Promoted in Eearnest these days. This Study Attempts to Examine the Factors that Affect the Sustainability of Social Enterprise, Which is the Current Policy Issue Regarding the Social Enterprise. For this Purpose, the Study Developed a Research Model that has Antecedent Factors(strategy, managerial capability, business environment and social entrepreneurship) of Social Enterprise as an Independent Variable, Performance as Parameter and Sustainability as a Dependent Variable. Using this Model, the Study Established Hypotheses that Examine the Performance and Antecedent Factors of Sustainability of Social Enterprise. According to the Hypothesis Testing Results, the Economic Performance Showed Partial Mediating Effect on the Impact of Strategy, Management Capacity, Business Environment and Social Entrepreneurial Spirit on the Sustainability. As for the Social Performance, Strategy, Management Capacity and Social Entrepreneurial Spirit Turned out to Partially Mediate the Impact on Sustainability. Meanwhile, The Social Performance did not Show Mediating Effect in the Impact of Business Environment on Sustainability.

Exploring Determinants of Employees' Adoption of Enterprise 2.0 Applications: A Case of Enterprise Social Network

  • Nowadays, more and more organizations are implementing the USE' of emerging enterprise 2.0 applications consciously or unconsciously such as Blogs, Wikis, Social Networks, etc. However, as the end users, employee's attitude toward adoption of enterprise 2.0 applications still lacks theoretical support. On the other hand, many organizations which have implemented enterprise2.0 applications are confused about how to promote employees' use of enterprise 2.0 applications. The purpose of this study aims to provide a conceptual examination the determinants that affect employee's adoption of these enterprise2.0 applications using the revised UTAUT model. To test the model, structural equation modeling will be employed to analyze data collected from two organizations in which experimental tests of enterprise social network platforms are conducted. The findings of this research will show effective and reasonable ways of promoting employees' participations in an enterprise 2.0 environment so as to maximize the benefits generated from implementing enterprise 2.0 applications. This research will also provide a theoretical foundation for academics and practical implications for development of enterprise 2.0 applications.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the impact of self-leadership by worker in social enterprises and profit enterprise. For this purpose, 36 social enterprises and commercial enterprises in Chungcheongnam-do and 303 workers were surveyed. Main results are as follows. First, the workers in social enterprises and profit enterprises have many different characteristics. The workers who work in social enterprise is more women, less educated and were the elderly than profit enterprise. This is the reason that social enterprises are employing women, elderly and vulnerable groups by the government's social work support policy. Second, self leadership and all organizational Performance areas in social enterprises is higher than that of profit companies. Third, self-leadership in social enterprise and profit enterprise has positive effect on organizational performance. Therefore, in order to improve the organizational performance of social enterprises must share organizational vision and goals for the workers. It will increase the organizational competitiveness.   • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing social performance of social entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) activities. This model tests various theoretical research hypotheses relating to social enterprise, social entrepreneurship, and CSR activities. Social entrepreneurship have been classified as innovativeness, proactiveness, risk-taking, and social value orientation. And CSR activities have been classified as community responsibility, philanthropic responsibility, and environmental responsibility. The proposed model is analyzed to target social entrepreneurs. Valid 115 questionnaires have been collected within three months of 2013. Smart Partial Least Square(PLS) 2.0 have been utilized for deriving the study results. The result of hypothesis testing are as follows. First, social entrepreneurship positively influence community responsibility, philanthropic responsibility, and environmental responsibility. Second, community responsibility, philanthropic responsibility, and environmental responsibility positively influence social performance in social enterprise. The results of this study will provide various implications to improve social performance and social entrepreneurship in social enterprise.

Exploring Social Entrepreneurship of the First Social Enterprise in South Korea: The Case of the Founder of Dong Wha Pharm

  • A great deal of attention has been paid to entrepreneurship and social enterprises that help improve societies' ability to solve social problems and develop new ways of thinking (Drucker 1995). Dong Wha Pharm, founded in 1897, was the first social enterprise in South Korea. The purpose of this study is to provide meaningful insights into the theoretical development of social entrepreneurship and how to achieve social innovation by fostering social entrepreneurship. Drawing on the five critical elements of social entrepreneurship developed by Dees (1998), we explore social entrepreneurship by investigating the first Korean social entrepreneur, Kang Min, the founder of Dong Wha, a 125-year-old company in South Korea. The findings offer meaningful and valuable insights to the literature on social entrepreneurship and to current and potential social entrepreneurs wanting to find new ways to achieve social improvement and move society forward.

A Study on the Decision Making Model for Social Enterprise Investment (사회적기업 투자 의사결정 모델 연구)

  • The present study attempts to build a decision making model for social enterprise investment. The proposed model includes four factors; social compatibility, growth, profitability, stability, and organizational suitability. Thirteen social enterprise investors were requested to rate the importance of each of the four factors when they make investment decisions. Financial stability (25.8%) and social compatibility(25.7%) turned out to be most important followed by profitability(17.5%) and growth(17.1%). Organizational suitability(13.9%) was least important. This study uncovered the first empirical factors for social enterprise investment decision making in the early stage of exploratory research. In practice, also provided several implications to social entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers.

  • In the rapidly changing business environment, companies are introducing information technology to effectively manage internal resources in order to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. We presented the Enterprise Social Network Service(SNS) as new information technology. Enterprise SNS provided employers with sociable functions like Facebook while supporting general task such as mail, authorization and notice. In this research, we focused on Enterprise SNS and suggested self-disclosure, enjoyment in helping others, perceived organizational support, generativity capacity as antecedent variables of Enterprise SNS usage. In addition, we verified the effect of the mediating role of generativity capacity between Enterprise SNS usage and job performance. For empirically verifying the proposed model, we collected sample data from 225 workers using Enterprise SNS and conducted analysis using a structural equation modeling. We expect that this study provides managers who are interested in introducing enterprise SNS with insights on how to facilitate enterprise SNS usage. Also, this study suggests useful theoretical implications to researchers who are interested in the use of enterprise SNS from the context of knowledge management.

  • This study analyzed on the effect worker's organizational citizenship behaviors of vision sharing and values congruence in social enterprise. Analysis results are as follows: the higher the degree of match value of worker and organization, organization's vision have on active organizational citizenship behaviors in social enterprise. And, non-profit organization, full-time employee and Non-disadvantaged are actively organizational citizenship behaviors. Social enterprises's purpose are to solve the social problem in communities and creating the jobs for the vulnerable. Therefore, the administrator of social enterprise strive to share the vision of the organization with worker, and should pay more effort in the selection process for selecting the worker that matches with organization's value.
